QUOTE(NasiLemakMan @ Jul 29 2008, 08:38 PM) knowing panasonic, the sensor proc would be crap. Hopefully fuji can land the killer blow provided they stop with the mp race. They already got phenomenal dynamic range. agree. Panasonic jpeg processing is one of the worst especially low light. But we never know. Let's waitfor review. |

Point and shoot market and camera is very predictable. Tell you what will happened:
QUOTE(daruma @ Aug 21 2008, 01:55 PM) It seems like Canon/Fuji not going to that path. Only us who know the goodnessof low noise will ask for lower pixel. If they going to increase pixel count, noise will increase. Cannot defy law of physic. Cannot have bigger sensor coz price increase. QUOTE(RoxyGal @ Aug 21 2008, 01:55 PM) fuji f60fd out d...but lost LX4? The problem is not only noise. At high ISO or noise implementation,I want the old F31FD...revision FTW... Added on August 21, 2008, 1:55 pm wait for lx4 then.. the new sensor... basically Panasonic will over process it and destroy the picture. Fuji sensor is Super CCD which is better than Panasonic normal CCD in noise and other thing. QUOTE(daruma @ Aug 21 2008, 01:56 PM) If only Canon want to win back Point and Shoot. |

QUOTE(PCHo @ Dec 29 2008, 01:13 PM) Ya, it is a built in mode. Thanks for showing us that LX3 have terrible purple fringing.U can choose the "starry sky" mode from the SCN mode. The are also tons of other preset modes to choose from in the SCN mode. I noticed the trails also after uploading them to my pc. Will try ur suggestion on my next try. I have to thank you also for letting me discover another great thing my LX3 can do Added on December 29, 2008, 2:25 pmMy long journey back home..... Light speed ahead? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Camera - Lumix LX3 Aperture - f/8.0 Shutter - 1.6s ISO - 80 By the way, if you up the ISO during starry night, you'll get more star from noise. think to increase ISO.... QUOTE(PCHo @ Jan 2 2009, 09:32 PM) On the technical side, these are the main differences I know of: Let me correct you then. Nikon post process is good. Panasonic might cannibalize youri) Larger sensor ii) Faster Leica lens (f/2.0) iii)Venus Engine IV iv)Shorter zoom A few things come into my mind when dealing with photo sharpness. i) ISO (smaller better, e.g. ISO-80) ii) Aperture (smaller better, e.g. f/8.0) iii) Lens (Leica is a very good lens) iv) Handshake (depends on individual) v) Camera processing (can be set in camera settings) The reason why ur fren's Nikon is sharper might also be due to another factor. Pixels. Do remember that the LX3 is a 10Mpixel cam. If u compare it with a 12 or 14Mpixel cam, the 100% zoom is different. All the geng sifus please correct me if I am wrong~! picture Anyway , the comparison between two camera must have the same condition. I doubt the Panasonic and the Nikon camera is anywhere same condition when the picture is taken.... |

QUOTE(SeeD @ Jan 2 2009, 10:06 PM) i) SET erm, same condition means at the same place/time/etc. Everything same.ii) SET iii) SET iV) SET (On a solid rock that doesnt move) V) Can explain abit? n00b here The Nikon my cousin is using is quite old ... 8MP only. What do you mean same condition? Anyway, if 8MP, probably your lens and Nikon lens resolution is same. But since Nikon 8MP and Panasonic 10MP, so: Sharpness at 100% = lens resolution/CCD resolution If lens resolution is equal, with increase CCD resolution, sharpness at 100% will be bad for Panasonic. |

QUOTE(SeeD @ Jan 2 2009, 10:39 PM) actually picture sharpness also depends on your lens. So when Panasonic lens and Nikon lens same sharpness, when you see at 100%, your Panasonic photo will be larger. Sure its less sharp right? Or look at this way. You have 1 same photo. One is enlarge 80%. One is enlarge 100%. Which one is more sharp? The thing is, even your lens have different sharpness at difference zoom and aperture. So its very hard to compare. |

QUOTE(zeeker87 @ Jan 2 2009, 11:50 PM) Mr gogo2..wat do u meant by lens resolution??i never heard any term like "lens resolution".. don try to confuse ppl here.. da megapixel will only make differences when da photos is being enlarge or zoom.. tat's y some professional photographer need a higher mp camera in order to get higher printing resolution.. but if normal usage like us..10mp is more than enough..juz like PCHo say..da sharpness of da photo is mainly due to lens, aperture, shutter speed, and handshaking will cause ur photo become blur as well... tat's y we nid a tripod when shoot in slow shutter speed..higher shutter speed will contribute a sharper image.. anyway..i sold my lovely LX-3 today..and now i m "camera-less"... Lens have sharpness too. |

QUOTE(joyyy @ Jan 3 2009, 12:20 AM) Why not? Small pic is always sharper than bigger pic if the informationis the same. Let's say you have 2MP picture. You resize to 4MP. Then you view both 2MP and 4MP picture at 100%. See which one is more sharp at 100%. If not understand, pls ask. Not shake head. Its very rude of you. |
