yup..the parking thingy is applied when it has a chance to take a rest. But talking about the price, 799 is a darn good bargain. Make sure it is not N36L though.. heh.

As it is all black in color and a relatively 'small' footprint, it goes very well with the AV system color in general, so jchue73's suggestion to make it into htpc is good.. much better than any external usb hdd enclosure+movie player. a good wiki site on this discussion point : http://n40l.wikia.com/wiki/Graphics_Cards

QUOTE(porkchop @ Feb 18 2013, 01:35 PM) is it recommended to setup as Raid or just 2 seperate disk better? i dont plan to use it as backup, planning to use as full 2Tb + 2TB = 4TB of storage space...wat is recommended? For critical data, or files that keep your memories, I would go for RAID... If it is non-critical (ie. movies, songs, which u can download again) I would just ignore RAID and get the maximum storage out of that HDD... |

QUOTE(aneip @ Jun 17 2013, 06:20 PM) Almost 50% off if that's not a display set, do I smell a new microserver coming soon?N40L at 599 is surely a good buy for a 4Bay NAS either on Linux or run it with headless on Windows... I have been running it win7pro 24x7 on headless setup for more than a year now....it is a great media storage! This post has been edited by numbertwo: Jun 17 2013, 06:59 PM |

QUOTE(mintgadget @ Aug 10 2013, 04:34 PM) HP Microserver N40L (RM599) & N54L (RM749). The probox is just an external case NO OS which means its no different from buying a USB box for your hard drive but this supports 4 or even 8 too. QUOTE(mintgadget @ Aug 16 2013, 02:24 PM) Yes HP Microserver is a normal PC HP Microserver does not come with OS.. just a note.AC Ryan already have an USB Host Controller so will work with the Pro box (plug and play). |
