water filters don't come with 'meter', its quite impossible to know when to change depending on usage.

Given malaysia water standard, i wonder if tests are conducted how many filters dare to pass the health level, especially given the disappointing SYABAS quality of work as we all know. Once in a while when they change pipe, you get mud inside your water filters, it would sure spoil it isn't it?

i wonder how often do you all change your filters and what filter brands you have been using? anyone mind to do a mini review especially those who used more than 2 brands before... thanks in advance. (Sellers please refrain from promoting).

most water filter brands are over-rated in malaysia. many in the market are OEM claiming korean technology without supporting trademark.

Fair enough. Do you plan to bring in Cullingan IZ-EZ-4 ?  It is way cheaper than 3M AP easy complete. Both are NSF 42 & 53 certified.

did you order online?

Found this company http://www.multifilter2u.com who claims they sell direct from factory.

the lady said their products without NSF certifications, and a lady claim that old people needs different water filter than younger one, omfg can you believe sales person would go to the extend to upsell you, i hung up without further pursue.

I got to tell ya that in Malaysia finding a reasonably priced water filter with NSF certification is almost impossible. That's why order from US might be a good option.

I recommend go for RO type of filter for your F&B business. Main is reason is cheap. As for which model, I think need to check around it first.
*
cheap, but whats the downside?

someone did mentioned earlier to forget about RO.

In this case, one would rather buy IC-EZ-1 from Ace Hardware at RM95.90, then get the RC from you @ RM299, total is RM394.90 but will get extra RC-EZ-1 cartridge.

This brings another question: Are there any NSF certified water filter below RM400 budget?

btw, whats the specs difference between IC-EZ-1 and IC-EZ-5 ?

AEIOU, in the same price range, how about this one from Japan?

Bro, the high selling price in Malaysia for NFC certified water filter makes you doubt a RM400 budged filter ??

If you want lagi cheaper, then you must join the bulk with me to buy direct from USA.  biggrin.gif
*
No doubt about Culligan brand, just want to bring in another competitive model for comparison.

If you can teach how to install (from your experience), i have no problem going joint bulk purchase, count me in when your proposal ready icon_idea.gif

btw,
Culligan IC-EZ-1: NSF 42 (capable to filter 11,356 litres)
Culligan IC-EZ-4: NSF 42, NSF 53 (capable to filter 1,892 litres)

besides capacity, any diff in filtering effectiveness? looks like IC-EZ-1 can filter more than IC-EZ-4 (should be cheaper than previous?)

EZ-1 no NSF 53

that means EZ-1 cannot filter Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), that may be present in public or private drinking water.

The extra filter you get would be only good for laundry washing and not drinking?

Your selling price is RM399 for the IC-EZ-4 set and replacement cartridge (RC) is RM299 ?

In this case, one would rather buy IC-EZ-1 from Ace Hardware at RM95.90, then get the RC from you @ RM299, total is RM394.90 but will get extra RC-EZ-1 cartridge. Anyway it is good to know that you have ready stock for replacement cartridge and those who need it urgently can buy from you.

For those who are interested in Culligan RC-EZ-4, please help to check with your respective Ace Hardware in your area whether they carry RC-EZ-4 replacement cartridge or not.
I saw the RC-EZ-1 replacement cartridge selling at RM62.90 at Ace Hardware Chitta mall.

on IC-EZ-1,

what the different between the RM95.90 and RM62.90 package?

Yes, it can be confusing. Below gives you a clearer illustration:

Culligan IC-EZ-1 RM95.90
Filter head with built-in bracket; RC-EZ-1 Level 1 replacement filter cartridge; mounting screws; filter change reminder sticker, and instructions.

Culligan RC-EZ-1 RM62.90
Replacement cartridge only.

Culligan RC-EZ-4 & IC-EZ-4
Replacement cartridge only is US40. If you buy the packing with filter head IC-EZ-4, the price is US54. Ex Walmart.
Please observe that the EZ4 cartridge is bigger and longer than EZ1 but both share the same filter head.

Btw, Panasonic PJ-5RF is not NSF certified.

make that USD35 ex-US for RC-EZ-4 for future order

so which service to use to bring it in?

There is a USD5.95 domestic shipping fee unless u buy 3 units. Walmart is free shipping even buy one unit only.

Based on the dimension and weight from the Amazon:
3.8 x 4.2 x 14.5 inches 3.2lbs, you can calculate the estimated cost of shipping at:
http://postcalc.usps.com/
Please use Priority Mail Express International™ delivery option.

The more units in the bulk, the cheaper the shipping cost.

problem is can't even find Culligan IC-EZ-1 at Ace Hardware at the Mines just now, that supervisor like not interested to restock or assist further.

Walked on to next electronic stores all only sell those Panasonic, opened it up and disappointed to see only a very light and small carbon filter inside, seriously doubt that thing can do filtering job well.

Hi I'm also very interested in this product but when i head over to ACE hardware, seems that they changed to the PUR brand and they dont even have replacement cartridges. Are both brands interchangeable ?
*
whats the NSF ratings?

this one has small filtering capacity if i am not mistaken hence the per liter cost is rather high compared to the other suggested culligan model. maybe someone can compare?

Searching for water filter that fix to the tap to replace my old philips w3861. Anyone use hyflux gurgle before? It has the smallest mmembrane pore size for tap filter 0.015m.
*
Gurgle Tap Filter F38 has Smallest membrane pore size (0.015 micron) for tap filter – ultrafiltration with Filtration Capacity 1000 Litres

http://www.hyfluxconsumer.com/product/view/2

So at 0.015 micron, can it outperform Culligan EZ-4?

Please find attached the performance Data for EZ-4 cartridge. This is extracted from the original Culligan EZ-4 manual.

EZ-4 cartridge filters are tested and certified under NSF / ANSI Std 53 for Cysts, Lead, Mercury, VOC, MTBE and Turbidity. The difference in price of EZ-4 with other model / range of Culligan filters is due to its ability in filtering VOC. VOC is volatile organic compound.

If using outdoor filter and using PVC pipe from outdoor filter to indoor and the PVC is exposed to the sun, it is not good. Therefore, never use PVC pipes for water filter for human consumption.
*
I was always wondering those vending machine selling water by 10cents for 1 liter, are they using any NSF standard, are they truly safe for drinking, I doubt they actually filter VOC etc.

Btw, EZ-1 without VOC filtering feature but can filter up to 3000 gallons or 1 year max. What do you think of boiling water from EZ-1 and drinking it, safe?

Can Health Ministry or public sue Syabas for supplying "water containing dangerous bacteria E. coli and Coliform."?

I don't see they have any enforcement on license sticker nor any fines to the vending machine owners.

Out of 10, only 1 vending has Sirim sticker (not even sure it is authentic), emailed Sirim once and they never bothered to reply verify.

Sad case for the majority public who can't afford clean water, they are consuming E. Coli without knowing it.

Anyone could share the link to the website or the PDF file that previously we have discuss about the alkaline water is for the purpose of medical purpose using by doctor in Japan? Which also mentioned about normal people shouldn't not encourage/recommend to take it as daily consuming.

I need the documentation to show my uncle that mislead by salesman marketing talk. Now a days, really need some proven research to debunk all those stupid myth. shakehead.gif

It’s not high pH alkaline water we need, it’s water with high levels of ALKALINITY.

pH is related to the hydrogen ions in water and stands for “potential of hydrogen.” Alkalinity is a measure of the capacity of water to neutralize acids. It measures the presence of carbon dioxide, bicarbonate, carbonate, and hydroxide ions that are naturally present in water. At normal drinking water pH levels, bicarbonate, and carbonate are the main contributors to alkalinity.

Bicarbonate water is the healthiest water to drink. It is critical to see that alkalinity does not depend strictly on pH. pH measures the degree of alkalinity but not its quantity. It is like the relationship between temperature and heat.

What you really need from negative ion or kaegen water essentially is Magnesium Bicarbonate which can be obtained by eating magnesium rich food (almond, spinach, pumpkin seeds, black beans) and drinking water mixed with baking sofa (bicarbonate). Magnesium is responsible for muscle relaxation and helps improve sleeps, and why Magnesium Bicarbonate? because it's the most digestible form. Our diets is too rich in Calcium (helps muscle contractions) and deficiency of Magnesium helps solve a lot of disease such as Alzemia, muscle problems (brain is a non generating muscle) and aging related problem.

Alkaline water machine ionize the water to produce alkaline water. Its nature of ionized water (unstable) doesn't provide any benefits to the body yet it causes body to have produce a lot of free radicals.

Most Baking Soda are made of Sodium Bicarbonate, not all brands have Magnesium Bicarbonate in it.  Taking magnesium rich food is a better option, yes it can help our body to to relax and improve sleep.

Magnesium is also very good for gout patients.

Espring water is mild alkaline (pH 7-8, sometimes 9), it contains calcium, magnesium and potassium, that's how the alkalinity comes into picture.

Just that we never see espring make claims about alkaline water can cure this and that....
*
1. calcium and potassium are abundant from normal food, magnesium is the real deal here. as mentioned, go for the food sources.

2. how do u generate Ca+, Mg+ and Na+ in eSpring anyway? It must have electrodes of these metals embedded in it?

btw, those alkaline will neutralise/react with medicines you take, avoid it.

That's why suggest eating Pumpkin seeds (Magnesium) and drink baking soda water (Sodium Bicarbonate) same time to form Magnesium Bicarbonate for best digestive form.
