Direct drive as stated "direct", it will spoil faster. My motor-belt-tube already clocked 8 years and I only need to change the belt.
*
my 1984 + 1996 belt till now no nid to change btw,,,, rclxms.gif

oso there is no evidence to support tht DD will spoil faster...

Well, mine also never change till now even it is quite noisy.
DD models just come out in the recent few years, so it take some time to prove it self. But some of the uncles I know that bought it, about 5-6 years they need to change.
DD is nothing special, is just a move by manufacturer to cut cost.
*
i don't think DD is recent years...

the few uncles doesn't represent thousands of washers out there...

of cos there are differences btwn DD n belt...

but if pay the same price for belt n DD, i will go for DD>....

while deciding for a new washer...

i have watched a few videos on utube how FL works,

i have noticed that...

wetting the clothes in the drum is a time consuming job, as show in the vid...

cos FL dont fill the drum with water like TL...

depending on the brand of the washer, the water normally is hosed into the drum

from a small outlet...

so if a big load like in this vid... it will take a long time to effectively wet and

soak the clothes in detergent...

hence... company like samsung came out with this bubble maker, that is suppose to

wet the clothes faster,,,

and panasonic has this hydroactive multi directional 5 shower jets in the FL washer.

the way FL washes, i notice, the clothes packed in the middle, takes a long time to move out side...

so that is y it takes longer washing time...

n if u wash this much clothes ( like in this vid )

all those 'macam-macam' motion by LG, are kinda useless.... biggrin.gif

the clothes won't move anywhere cos its so packed..

and it is not yet the max weight...

I uploaded a video I don't know whether this consider loud or not.

I put up a glass of water can see the vibration through the water, the pump on and off the whole video can hear clearly, at the end of the video the spinning noise like not balance vibrate a lot.

*
based on ur vid, i think the vibration is kinda ok. ?

just that can hear 3 sound, the 'jet'=spinning, pam?=baaah (sucking water out?) and 'beating' noise

if compare to top load like the lg i have, i think the glass with water will move..?

but noise level will be much lesser....

the commercial most likely a bit tipu wan la.. laugh.gif

tho my family have been using hitachi WM 2 units for total more than 30 years.. (still working now )

but this time, i opt for LG...

things have changed...

the japs WM market are so small globally...

just couldnt spend the same amount of $$$ on mainly plastic parts of jap TL washers...

well folks...

" Why washing machines are no longer built to last "

latest article on BBC..
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-27253103

i like panasonic, tho not as flashy as LG, their marketing is focused on
safety feature, more believable functions...

but when i wana DL a copy of user manual to study... tarak.. none,.
emailed cs, can't help...
limited global website.. yes sold in uk aus,

this 2012 reuters report says oni 0.5% market share(washers+fridge) in eu..
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/22/...E84L13220120522

whereas the very aggresive korean.... tops global sales in washers for a few years, that's market for over 50 countries...
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=new...id=ae4T0pp0TUao

LG is still US top washer despite anti dumping duties...
http://antidumping.vn/news/2013-05-15/lg-s...-dumping-duties

........ hmm.gif

actually.... gentle is not that effective in cleaning dirt

esp if u have school going children, n their baju always dirty compare to office ppl....

if u remember the old days, ppl wash kain/ baju they twist n beat etc..

tht might be the reason that FL needs longer time to wash n also use warm water... to get those dirt out more effectively....

both types of washers are useful, both can do something the other can't do... haha....

TL have soak function, for those who wants to soak before wash...

i forgot which brand of washer has this 'continue' function where if the power supply is off, then later turns on again, the washer will con't from where it stop...

Warm water + soda(main ingredient of detergent) = laundries brittle fast.
WM's job is spin, spin and spin. In the middle of spin, spin ,spin, it add water and drain water.
Or are you expecting some WM internal can jump whistling.gif
Resume function are not that useful most of the time. Unless we have another serious power outage like 80's. But then when this happens, washing laundries still important hmm.gif
*
no one here is expecting wm internals can jump la... unker... biggrin.gif

resume function is useful in certain situations.... just can't rmber which brand is that....

bring up by the lifter and drop back to water,,,,,,

this is the marketing gimmick used by LG to confuse consumers...

yes, it can happen... when ur wash load is like what? only a few clothes, then it can happen, drop down..

then how high is the drop ah? the drum is only less than 2 feet? bout 2 feet?

yes very very gentle drop down 'beating'... i agree, tht's y FL is always gentle it is true...

in this vid, which i have posted earlier,

it is like more of a gentle tumbling....

clothes are at best rubbing against each other gently... slow massaging biggrin.gif

those old TL washer.. with the batang in the centre and non rotating drum, yes it will twist very hard...

clothes get tangled bcos only the pulsator is rotating, and the drum is static.

i have 2 of those washers... compared to the latest TL tht i'm using now....

the difference is huge..

the whole of msia is not like the mid/ upper/high c modern housing area tht u r staying ...

some areas will have power trips once in a while.... cos of nearby factory, or backyard industry overloading etc...

not only hitachi, but a lot of other brands have this auto resume function.. depends on which model...

Toshiba AW-DC1500W Vs Panasonic NA-FS14G3, which one should I choose?I am dilemma within this 2 model. Could anyone of you share your experiences on this? Thanks
*
the best way is to go shop n read the operation manual of both washer, then you can decide which
will suit your need better..

different family have diff requirements.

i noticed all panasonic TL. there is an exposed nut on the pulsator,
the design is like that, no cap...
wonder how much they can save $$ ....
to normal ppl is like the part hilang dy.... biggrin.gif

oso panasonic button have tiny groove around it, can collect dirt, hard to wipe ....

hitachi the lint catcher have glued on mesh, very thin, like will pecah after a while...

nice to use or not?

what features r u looking for?

of cos every brand n model have some pros n cons, so u will nid to decide.

LG, Samsung - can only be serviced by their company tech, can't buy ur own spare part.

Jap - any pomen can repair cos anyone can buy spare parts from their HQ.

LG - for that price, u get nice modern looking washer with paint, brush metal, glass top,
soft closing lid, no slap bam ( how long it'll last? )
no buttons, no plastic parts in tub, heater function, steam function, wash time 25 mins max... bla bla

jap- looks like big plastic tong, the plastic all look kinda flimsy, tub got alot of plastic attachment,,,,
max time wash 15-17mins. buttons tekan tekan..., sticker control panel ( the old stuff )

LG- auto lint removal ( effective? )

Jap... plastic lint catcher...

LG- board + general 1 year warranty.

Jap - board 2-3 years, general 2-3 years?

other details, u need to read the manuals n compare, LG sammy toshiba can DL manual , pana i think tarak..
so go read at MV jusco, no one will kacau u.. can read whole day.... biggrin.gif

hi, do you have an option to switch off the heater? i m eyeing on its bigger siblings but worry the power pulling by the heater

edit: i just read the manual, apparently the heating is only for Whitening Wash & Allergy Care Wash? is it correct?  hmm.gif
*
ha yes, pandai u go read the manuals... tht is the way to go. read it n u will understand which one suits you better.

heater also used for tub cleaning. tub clean runs for 2 hours ya.... biggrin.gif

for the toshiba, i like the different level of water flow power u can set.

LG oni have normal and power, delicate is way too soft for normal clothes.
