Sifus, Is there any tax applicable by custom if one would import fridge from Korea for example? I heard there are so many latest designs and cheaper by almost 40% compared to M'sia and their power voltage is also suitable to use in M'sia. Is that true?

How much do you think the shipment be?

The last time I checked a few years back, MAS cargo charges around RM 2-3 per kilo.. So, a 600-800 liter Fridge with the foams might be around 60-100 kg (rough guess).

Where got so cheap, unless your goods can be handle rough.

You need to add minimal 30% tax.

And S.Korea electric maybe 110v, and 60hz. Voltage is not a problem can get step down transformer but frequency may cause problem.

Korean voltage is 220V 60hz..I have been using MANY korean originated electrical items in M'sia and NONE has ever gone wrong for many years (touch wood....) Pls kindly check yr fact at the door before you blurt out something.

As for the tax.. yes..I have no idea.. maybe taxed maybe not,.. that's why if anyone cared to read my earlier post I'm asking whether expensive imported electrical items imposed any duty or not. Cos some small electric items which i ordered online never been taxed before,(ionizer, kettle etc) ...but not as huge as a 650 liter fridge or 48" LED tv, which I'm asking anyone who experienced importing them before.

As for the cargo, fragile items is not an issue cos they have insurance..

As for yr idea of the 30%, kindly give me the proof or fact.

As what u said, the latest fridge/ Aircon nowadays comes with an invertor. The M'sian prices do still burns a big hole in the pocket for these latest technology , unless we get 'em from the country's origin tax free.

But still, no one can answer officially whether importing huge expensive elect items would not attract any duties..Hmmm

Thanks weikee, I guess i have to ask forwarding agent more clarification about this cos under the item description "841821" by customs - refrigeration household type - compression type - no tariff is imposed unless certificate of approval by D.G Electrical Supply Malaysia. And with millions of electrical products from thailand, China etc flooding into the market, with more variable voltage and frequencies, wonder how those bypass the customs regulations.
