Hello all, I am considering the below two units of refrigerator. Hope you all could advise and provide your two cents.

1. MR-FX47EN by Mitsubishi Electric

My Webpage

2. MR-CGX46EN by Mitsubishi Electric

My Webpage

Mitsubishi claim that these two units consume less energy and hence savings in electricity.

What you guys think about the refrigerator by Mitsubishi Electric? Its durability, design and spare parts?

Or alternatively, is there any other suggestion? I am looking refrigerator for two persons and budget around RM 3,500 +-

my 1997 mitsu from 0 star era still working now laugh.gif
1st one pretty reliable. 2nd one new model isit? Due to physics or some reason the traditional one more power saving than bottom freezer (generally).

mostly any 5 star ST fridge will be very power saving for that 400L nett class.

Yes, 2nd one is new model. Due to emco, have no chance to visit store for viewing physical unit. Would like to look at compartment and side pocket.

I couldn’t find the star rating for the above two models. I personally think that bottom freezer is nice to have as I have experienced that top freezer are too full and item fall down which nearly hit my leg. If the savings of electricity between top freezer and bottom freezer are not much, I might consider to choose the latter.

Other than these, do you have any alternative model for me? Have been browse through the forum and you’re actively giving opinions. Appreciate your two cents.

This is not how you buy fridge.
You need to ask yourself, how many family members are in your house?
How often do you cook?
What do you normally store in the fridge? (Mostly frozen meat, ice creams? or mostly veggies and can drinks?)
Is there space for the new fridge dimensions? And the orientation of the fridge doors opening, will they get obstructed or hit a wall when opening wide?

Then lastly only go for asthetic look of the fridge and your budget.

Thank you for your advice.

1. There are only two of us in the house, however we are not heavy cooker but like to grocery to store goods.
2 yeah, we store things like frozen meat and seafood, mostly fruit and vegetable. Also snack and drinks.
3. Have done some measurements at my kitchen and we reserved around 900mm for the refrigerator.

The ones with easiest spares availability is Panasonic; Mitsubishi is generally durable but please don't compare with refrigerators which are from the 90s or early 2000 era; those are built like tank but are most like power hoggers by today's standards.

Haha that's why post here to know about the quality of refrigerator nowadays.

What's your take on Mitsubishi product? I come across to read reviews that their refrigerator doesn't produce much noise and save much electricity.

If you go for 4 doors fridges, there are many choices with bottom freezer... smile.gif

What is your budget? Because I am looking at bottom freezer as well and found a few with slightly higher capacity. Perhaps you could take in consideration.

1. Panasonic

Price: RM 2,939
Capacity: 465L

2. Mitsubishi Electric

Price: RM 3,088
Capacity: 370L

I also looking at this unit now. What are the factors which attract you to choose this unit?

For me, it is because of the compartment drawer for vegetable and freezer. Salesperson also said that Mitsubishi brand is durable and less problem. Not sure how true it is, anyone has experience?

I bought the fridge this year beginning.

Pros:

1. Spacious in each compartment, bright and come with automatic ice maker
2. Very quiet and stylish
3. There are two wheel at the bottom of fridge which allow you to move it for cleaning purpose.

Cons:

1. Some parts such as vegetable compartment has the plastic feel, giving user impression that the materials are not solid.
2. Surface of the fridge get stain easily by fingerprint.

It is difficult to view actual unit in the physical shop as they don't usually display this unit. I went to a few shop only found it.
