hi guys,

I'm buying a new fridge & hope can get advice from you all, have few question:
1. is inverter necessary in fridge?
2. is the kwH important as well? all fridge have it stick on the top now.

I shortlisted 2: 1 with inverter and another without. 300+kwh on inverter type and 500+ kwh without.
is that the usage per year? If yes that's means the fridge is not really consume much power right? cause I check my house electric bill 1 month already 400kwh.

and I also notice the first 200kwh cost me RM43, so can I assume from the 2 I shortlisted, the 1 with inventer save me around RM43 per year, right? (ignore the different rate on different tier)

First time buy fridge.. hope someone can help. Thank you. smile.gif

BTW, why sharp does not sell fridge with inverter? so far only saw 1 with "japanese inverter" in a lower end model. High end model only come with hybrid instead of inverter.

Fridge won't really make a hole on your bill, most of the time.
But getting fridge with unnecessary fancy functions do fail faster and cost higher.
My 8 year old non inverter fridge only cost me about rm20 a month since I always open the door few times a day and plan properly.
I bought it for rm1300, so rm162.50 a year and reducing when it clocked 31st December this year.
If getting an inverter for rm3000, 8 years run is rm375 and within this 8 years period failed once, it will be out of equation.
For fridge, uptime shall be 100% during the period you are having it.

Thanks for the reply smile.gif
However that RM1300 is about 8 years ago.
The 1 I saw without inverter is already priced at RM1599 and the 1 with is RM1899, not a big difference.
So do u still think the non inverter should be the choice?
