dear all lowyat ppl,

considering this 2 fridge to buy panasonic NR-BY602XS & hitachi R-VG660P3M

any recommendation? and review buy users of these...

thanks

I'm using BY602 for me the bottom freezer is really handy as the heavy stuff at the center easy to take it out. no need to bend down to take a bottle of drink for example.

normally freezer just chicken, fish, ice, ice cream etc which you use lesser than the stuff you put in non-freezer compartment.

as for BY602 it can be quite noisy when the motor working hard, you can hear the air pumping noise as well. but most of the time it's quiet and if you never open the fridge door for pro-long period motor running very low it can very quiet.

The noise is tolerate able nothing out of ordinary I guess as I read some where here the VG660 motor when running high also noisy.

Moisture vegetable case is a good features you can keep your veg longer.

in dilemma of choosing the better fridge out of this 2 model, Panasonic NR-BW415VN and Sharp SJPT-419MBK..dont really mind bottom or top freezer..

in terms of brand, which is more reliable? also, anyone encounter any problem with pana bottom drawer, such as roller faulty, etc? afraid if its in full capacity with all the meat and everything, the drawer might become heavy and cause excessive force to the roller or its mechanism..

if you had to choose one, which one would it be?

I'm using BW602 my mother in law using BW415, her fridge almost full doesn't encounter any roller problem, after day to day use you will love the bottom freezer. tongue.gif

The design, high tech and very low consumption is extracting me. Beside it is new kind of fridge. And the only fridge made in japan.

The price come down a lot liau. First arrived here cost RM11k. sweat.gif

Got to ask your wife, why she like to buy a LV bag? While can buy 100 ordinary more from any shop. Have you ask yourself why you like to get a jpn/Europe car. While you can drive 3-4 potong car for over 20yrs.  tongue.gif

Haha everyone have their own need for me the added function doesn't justify the 3x cost.

Hitachi is good choice their appliances always use less energy, maybe more advance in Inverter technology? hmm.gif

Aesthetic wise I like side by side fridge, maybe I grew up with multi door fridge bored of it already. tongue.gif

It is the the thing we interest/collect/hobby. But we ignore others people interest. It is just a circle of thinking that eventually coming back to us. Hope you can understand what I mean.  smile.gif

It is not just Hitachi appliances always use less energy. Many others do have. Got to search more. The brand here is limited compare western country. Which have more choice to shop around.

It is not always about the inverter technology. One of the example advance tech for this kind of fridge is the insulation. Have you notice that with such a big capacity, the fridge size not that big. Inside capacity/space in increase. But able to retain total outer size small. While the inside cool air won't effect at all. That mean the wall is thinner. If you research more, you can find that, they using space material technology to insulate the fridge. If you talk about space technology, all is high tech stuff. But high tech price also.  sweat.gif

There is a bunch of sensor inside this fridge to detect whatever thing. To reduce the waste, odour and power etc. Hope not easily spoil.  sweat.gif  There is still many others new tech inside, that you cannot see and touch. But doing their job behind.

Without knowledge about this tech, you won't understand why it is so expensive.

Side by side fridge for me is, waste of space. Narrow and thin inside. But fat outside. Got to learn how to save space in small home. Ignore it if you live in banglo.

That's why I mentioned everyone have their own need or interest. rolleyes.gif

I like to read also, I did read the brochure and manual and all the tech it have, but normally all other brand also have more or less the same thing, Panasonic have something called U-Vacua, but the fridge use more energy than Hitachi counterpart when I read through all the Annual Energy Consumption. Not only fridge even their washing machine also use less energy if compare to other brand, that why I mention Inverter because Washing Machine don't have insulation tongue.gif

I mentioned aesthetic wise side by side is better looking but functionality maybe different story. wink.gif

Hitachi HK website have more info manual and such, Malaysia Hitachi website really ..... doh.gif

Believe it or not, I have no idea how to check on power consumption on the fridge alone.  The fridge itself is totally silent.  The beauty of the fridge is enough to put smiles on me each time I walk past it.  To me, its definitely worth the value.  rclxms.gif
You need a power monitor device if you want to check yourself. I want to get one if possible to check all the power usage of all electronic devices at home. tongue.gif

I live in a condo so space is important and limited.  I only have room for one big fridge, unlike most people will have 2 or 3 fridges at home.  My first choice when hunting for a fridge was a 'Side by Side' fridge only.  After a long hesitation, it still comes down to me that the compartments are too narrow.
If one fine day that you need to put a huge cake or big fish, the compartment just cannot accommodate it.  The last straw was when I stayed at my brother's home and he has the 'Side by Side' fridge and it's messy. Impossible to find things.
I though side by side easier to find thing? coz you can view all the things inside at a glance compare to multi door where you may forget you have something store inside the fridge as you have to open the compartment one by one? hmm.gif

Hi. Which one I should go for between two model below:-

1. Panasonic NR-BX468XSMY
2. Hitachi R-VG490P8M

Thanks smile.gif

My NR-BY602XS (2014 model) already 5 years, honestly i like the bottom freezer, top freezer tend to block your view when you open the fridge you need to look down or bend down to search for your thing, where as bottom freezer you can see everything in front of you and this fridge the led light are all at the front part of the fridge which give you better visibility.

Hard to make comparison, coz manufacturers don't normally have two identical fridge specs, 1 with inverter, 1 without. But based on my educated guess, inverter is usuallly around 1k-1.5k more expensive than regulat fridge.

Not sure if the extra cost is justified...

Nowadays still have non-inverter fridge? Inverter will have better preservation of your item in the fridge, non-inverter the cooling and temperature fluctuation is huge which is not good for your food preservation. imho

Where the hell you get such information?

You're explain like the fridge no sensor to detect the different temperature.

There is still a lot of fridge model don't have inverter.
*
You can search more about inverter vs non inverter fridge (I just Google and paste the link below)

One of the sentence = inside temperature varies throughout, but in case of inverter temperature is more stable.
