I guess that would only be applicable if the washing machine or any other appliance that can cause flooding is near the fridge (or the area). Lucky that you have it tho. compared to my previous mitsubishi, the Fisher and Paykel had a spacious interior and the cooling was uniform throughout.

Fridges in dry area / eg. dry kitchen, living hall, wouldn't be susceptible to flooding hence no need for a plinth.
