Buy Jap brands.

Hi Mini!

By any chance, what are the japanese brands that you would recommend of would have better after sales services here in Malaysia?

What about Bosch refrigerators?

Thanks again for the marble dining advice!

If I am buying again, I would go for Sharp.

I have no exp with Bosch. So far I havent heard complains about Bosch or maybe because not many are using it due to its pricing.

As I know, Sharp has third party agents to handle claims for warranty. That was when I dealt with them in early 2020 b4 covid. Hopefully they have not change the system.

You can call Sharp CS to confirm.

Thanks a lot mini orchard that helps narrow down on the selection by a lot!

Stay safe!

I'm using Bosch at home. The built quality is good, but then I didn't compare much with others since I wasn't really looking at other options, but comparing to teka (my sister's) and LG (my sister in law's), I could see why it is more expensive than other brand for the same size. My only complain, sometimes it is very noisy during cooling (after you open/close the door).

Their aftersales service is good. I have suspected scratch problem on my brand new hob last time, the send their technicians to see the problem and rectify it, turns out it was only some hard to come out stains. The technicians they sent, one of them is a very experienced uncle working for them for over 20 years already. He came into my kitchen straightaway he could recognize all the Bosch appliances in my house including the model numbers sweat.gif

Hi guys, just out of curiosity, the door entrance to my wet kitchen is a little small, i don't think I can fit the whole fridge in if I wanted a 750L size

Was wondering if I could take out the doors first and carry it in and reinstall it while I am in the wet kitchen..

Will the installers at Harvey norman be able to do it?

The fridge that I am looking at has like LEDs notifications and lights on the door, so is it advisable to remove the doors because definitely there'll be wiring and all

Thanks! biggrin.gif

Standard door shall be able to go thru. You may check the fridge dimension especially depth which shall be lesser than door wide (even smaller door wide of 30 inches=76cm).
*
Hi Jhleo1, thanks for the reply.. The door frame is about 80cm wide but like what ceo684 mentioned after opening the door, it'll eat up about 6cm of space there.. So thinking as of last resort, can i just dismantle the fridge doors.. Maybe will head over the harvey norman and ask rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

QUOTE(ceo684 @ Aug 9 2022, 11:55 AM)
Measure thrice to be sure it can go in. because the door handle is very mafan as it adds a few more cm. Plus the door thickness also.
*
Haha yeah thats right thanks so much ceo684, really a headache, lucky didn't buy it spontaneously maybe will have to downsize from here

Initially I was thinking of getting this Sharp SJF85VMSS.. But the dimensions are 892w x 1720h x 771d mm

From what i heard of is that Japanese brands are usually reliable? May I know the after service of Mitsubishi & hitachi here in Malaysia?

I'm thinking to buy a new freezer and have my eyes set on Mitsubishi MR-LX68EM, wish to get anybody's opinion or experience on the brand and model before going for it.

Hi Sky2006!

Did you managed to purchase the LX68EM?

I too am interested in this particular model but don’t see forumers recommend Mitsubishi refrigerators

Stick with Jap brands to be safe. Panasonic is highly recommended. Sharp also ok. Hitachi got some questionable after sales issues recently. Mitsubishi too little feedback
*
Thanks bro! The only fridge that I like from panasonic would be NR-DZ601VGKM (78.5CM depth) but unfortunately it too large for the door opening to my wet kitchen.. 80cm door width, with doors open would be around 76cm at the very best.. So only option for me would be either rmove the fridge doors or remove my wet kitchen door

So far would be the best for my usage would be the Mitsubishi but unfortunately not too much review on it.. The MR-LX68EM with 63.5cm depth

You can search this thread. I rmb some user is having LX68EM.
*
Haha yeah it was sky2006.. Another user I saw mentioned that the auto ice maker broke down after a while.. Which is a bummer for me.. But no worries bro

I've already emailed panasonic and see if their technician could help me dismantle the door of the fridge and all, I actually wouldn't mind dismantling it myself, problem is how to carry it later icon_question.gif icon_question.gif and afraid that there are wires connecting the LEDs for the displays at the door.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

I bought the fridge this year beginning.

Pros:

1. Spacious in each compartment, bright and come with automatic ice maker
2. Very quiet and stylish
3. There are two wheel at the bottom of fridge which allow you to move it for cleaning purpose.

Cons:

1. Some parts such as vegetable compartment has the plastic feel, giving user impression that the materials are not solid.
2. Surface of the fridge get stain easily by fingerprint.

It is difficult to view actual unit in the physical shop as they don't usually display this unit. I went to a few shop only found it.
*
Hi Sapwhueijye,

Thank you so much for the kind reply, haha yeah the surface where you pull is even more prone to finger print and i plan to put a tape over it..

I came across this fridge at Harvey Norman Pavilion Bukit Jalil..

Thanks so much sawhueijye for your input.. What i love about it is actually the dimensions it fits nicely throught my wet kitchen door lol

Hi Calvin, how was your experience with Mitsubishi fridge so far? Also was wondering when you were at Harvey Norman BJ if you came across this model MR-CGX56EP, it’s on my list.
*
Hey Navychrome,

Haha haven't purchased yet

Just collected keys for home and surveying now.. From looking through the threads here and asking around, I think Sharp would be the most solid choice among all the brands..

But was told that to remove the refrigerator door to fit my wet kitchen door frame would cost RM400 for the technician at sharp... Decision decision :/

Hey Calvin thanks for the prompt reply! Which Sharp model is it and what made up your mind with Sharp? I find that Mitsubishi is rarely discussed, but most of the feedback I heard so far were positive, which makes it harder to decide lol.
*
Hmmm I can’t remember the exact model but the width is 771mm and the other is around 766mm

Which is the thinnest among all their French door models

Btw I was at Harvey Norman BJ roughly 3 weeks ago

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5211461

I came across this thread regarding the ice maker and decided to reconsider from then on, if not it would have been the perfect fridge for me as the depth is around 735mm which is perfect

I think the problematic ice maker that was mentioned in the thread that Calvin linked was the Sharp fridge

Can consider Panasonic for bottom freezer as well, next would be LG
*
Not to sure though as the thread was a mitsubishi fridge, but anyhow i was really leaning towards it for the size.. Thanks for sharing bro, didn't know that we needed to consider so many things before purchasing a fridge rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Btw I found a demo unit of a Hitachi fridge, RM18k to RM8.6k ish, to those that are interested can head to best denki at 1utama

My bad, its supposed to be Hitachi not Sharp. The guy that you quoted regarding the broken ice maker was mentioning a Hitachi fridge biggrin.gif

While the Mitsubishi fridge mentioned by another guy is still working fine after few years
*
Haha thanks bro! I guess I’ll get the Mitsubishi as well.. ticks most of the boxes for me and my wife

Thank all for the advice. Wen to Senheng and Harvey Norman last week, Senheng price is cheaper with extra warranty if you joined the PlusOne membership.

Hey bro, I just recently purchased a few household items for my new place and this is what I did

Since Harvey norman has this policy of having the best price in the market.. (https://www.harveynorman.com.my/customer-services/shop-with-confidence.html)

I compared a legitimate shopee product against theirs and they honoured the price.. Some salesman will say can't match shopee price as it is company's policy.. I managed to find the right guy at Sunway Pyramid to help me with the lowest price.. I got a frdge and washer/dryer from him... I wanted an oled from LG but unfortuantely they have fully sold it out so I got the TV from Shopee..

What I like about harvey norman is that they will come up to your place and install the product as well..
