I thought I can finally enjoy PS2 game with a 40 inch Full HD TV in full glory...

Never mind, I guess I can play on weekends when they are not around

honestly i prefer to play ps2 using normal crt tv then a big size LCD..it will just make the graphics worst due to the resolution..u need to use component cable but i doubt it will help much

partially correct partially not.I'm not sure about LCD but for CRT tv,if ur tv display the same scence for too long without any movement (playing same game with almost same scene),u might "over burn" the tv screen and when this happen,u'll see some "shadow" on ur tv even u oledi switch it off.I had expereince the issue when install a security CTV showing the same view all the time.So when i off the tv now,i still can see some "black image/shadow" which still show after u switch off the TV. anyway,i think this wont happen to today modern games which wont display the same view all the time. Not like the older 2D games whereby only the one u play is moving, the view on top and bottom especially is "still".

I must say 90% parent saying that simply becos they dun want their kids to play too long and forget aboput their homeworks/makan/mandi lor.I got no kids yet but i understand if my kids one day playing games untill lupa makan, hard to accept la,what do u think? tongue.gif

100% false.

How is it electrical signal from a video game is any different from dvd player or astro decoder?

The only reason why TV seem faulty is because kids would often adjust the TV setting to get that correct signal coming from a video game console.

Just take a look at some video stores like Speedy and you will notice their TV are often in bad condition because its long hours of usage. Not even a single video game console was used.

this is why I worked my ass off and bought my own tv wink.gif

with my own console

and my own game.

I bought s Sharp (no av input that time, only RCA) when I was in secondary school, when I was in Uni, i bought Sony Trinitron 29' (the TV, not to be confused with the forum jackass) and last two years I bought Panasonic LCD. My money, my choice.

my friend's tv busted after a whole day we spent playing Tekken. laugh.gif

but actually i didnt think playing games will spoiled the tv. Every thing has a life span, the way you use & handle it will affect the lifespan. Playing console on LCD tv the whole day is as same as watching Astro the whole day

usually parent will say those kind of thing to forbid you from playing any computer games laugh.gif
if they sooo afraid the tv will be spoiled, just ask them to wrap it back & put inside the box. The the tv wont be spoiled for the next 10-20 years laugh.gif

just keep this thing in mind: NOTHING last forever..but eventho it wont last forever, handle it with care & respect

Just like your Dad's car, you driving it will SPOIL it. Or your toy, your brother play will spoilt it......just excuse. TV is the extension of that sense selfishness from your parent. The point of the story, don't mess with their TV !!!! rclxms.gif

As long as there is proper ventilation and dust-free, the LCD TV shall last long enough.

If you play PS2 on RPTV (rear projection tv), then you are in for trouble. It is not meant to play long hours of video game. I am not sure abt this, but it was mentioned in the manual

one of the reasons why i lost interest in my PS2, component cable did help a bit, but the stupid TV refuses to display the picture properly doh.gif wanted to hook it back with the old 21" CRT but it went dead on me when i was about to do so doh.gif now my PS2 is only played for 1 hour per every few months laugh.gif

anyway, to TS, it doesn't matter here whether it is a myth or not, ur dad bought the tv and he has every right on how it should be used, but i'd prefer to get myself a tv and play my games in my own room (privacy, and i feel bad if i hog the tv and the entire family has to watch me play)
but it's a waste of time anyway if u are addicted and play for long hours. when i was addicted back then, i could play for more than 12 hours non-stop, but if u think again, the time could be better spent at doing other stuffs. no offense notworthy.gif

Your dad want to watch porn movies, so you better go to bed early...LOL.

As others mentioned, old CRT TV will suffer from burn-ins due to stagnant pictures. Most games today are not so stagnant, and new LCD monitors does not suffer from burn in as much.

But that doesn't mean they won't. I saw old LCDs (maybe 6 to 7 years ago?)...use 24/7 for monitoring traffic...burn in are very evident. However, those are old LCDs and the application screen don't move most of the time, not so sure about new LCDs, but if you're only using about 3 hours a day and with games, where everything flies around, it is highly unlikely you'll get burn in.

LOL..... The Legendary Flying Wii Controller... I think someone should edit some pics for it la.....

Actually, to be honest, I dun think playing a console on TV will spoil the TV..... It's just that maybe the TV is starting to detiorate and thus not able to function....
