yes those are walkers. I think the same as the one that was seen parked beside the TIE fighters when Hux was giving his speech.
yup, noticed it on both viewings; the walkers this time look more spider-like. can't say i prefer them over the ATATs though.

Brilliant, read it all.
Also the possibility
Which would make Rey incredibly powerful with the force but the age/gap of Luke & Obi-Wan fathering a child would be a slight issue.
Didn't realize there were so many hints of Obi-Wan in Rey (fighting style/scaling/climbing the walls/her accent even etc.). And the forceback they used Ewan McGregor's voice.

Nice theories to think about.
Ewan McGregor's line was recorded for this movie. Specifically he says "Rey, these are your first steps", as if his force ghost is calling out to her. But I do admit it's still a stretch to imagine she's related to him instead. If you look at the final scene, Luke is starting to tear as she hands him the lightsaber. I'd say he recognizes her and is tearing more because of that then because someone finally found his saber after 30 years.
Maz does say whoever you're waiting for is not coming back or whoever left you or something like that. It's meant to imply family but it could be that she was abducted by someone close to her i.e. Luke, from her parents i.e. Han and Leia. Maybe he mindwiped everyone to forget about her and put Lars von Tekka in charge to look after her? The brother vs sister storyline will always be a stronger one than cousin vs cousin; so I still have some reason to think it might be this universe's version of Jaina.
And I dunno if anybody noticed, when

Kylo stabs Han
, the sun almost gets fully drained d so the environment becomes darker, almost as if they took your hope and twisted it.

1. why no exotic locales? past movies have shown the exotic locations like cloud city of Bespin, swamps of Dagobah, frozen world of Hoth, cities of Coruscant with its 100 billion population, watery depths of Gungan
but all the planets in The Force Awakens seem dull and boring. especially the last scene with Luke which seems to be shot right here on planet earth!
2. recycled story line. kylo ren is whose child? Rey is who's child?
gee, i wonder where did the producer n writer get these plot lines from? how un-innovative and un creative.
and now we have x-wings blowing up a giant weapon of mass destruction? this is literally the third time this exact same plot had featured after death stars 1 and 2.
come on Disney, give us something new n excited. not the same old boring recycled stories.
3. why no aliens? all the main characters are human! except for chewie who is from the past movies and we don't understand him anyway.
disappointed. it could have been so much more. i rate it 6/10.
1. Because they cut down on CGI ma, all locales are real world locales with actual scenery, not underwater bubbles. Maybe they can do something different in future, but they did go from desert to green planet to space to ice planet. But it was all so fast paced.
2. Kylo storyline is recycled from books. Impossible not to have this family thing because star wars has always been about that. I think it's much more appealing to find out Kylo is Han's son than to find out he's some random guy right. The death star one i agree with you. They should have some resistance assault on the base using ground troops or something instead and for God's sake not another planet destroying weapon.
3. Erm, there were aliens all over the place; and they followed the original trilogy in terms of characters, there weren't many important aliens in those either.
