mister architect: the arrogant pr*ck Elite 10,672 posts Joined: Jul 2005 From: shah alam - skudai - shah alam	i'd still vote for blomkamp. his dirty scifi style is down to earth, and sometimes it's so believable that u cant believe such things dont exist (like the weapons in district 9). and his control over the CGI is exceptional. u'll be hardpress to figure out which is CGI and which is real. this style reminds me a lot of episodes 4, 5 and 6, particularly scenes in tatooine. episodes 1-3 were too clean and shiny it's annoying. even the tatooine scenes were too much CGI.

Scientific review, justification... star wars is a fantasy set in space. it doesnt need scientific justifications. i tried that a long time ago...

For the sequel, they have to come out with something original, something new. The score: 7.5/10 from me, the feel of seeing the return of the characters we knew contributes a lot. If you want to have a better experience, watch the original trilogy first before watching The Force Awakens. now, regarding kylo ren... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « he's not a sith lord. he's not even a sith. he belongs in a different order, this Knights of Ren which apparently also utilizes the force. not much is known about them, but in some interview jj abram said they're a slightly different variation from the sith. we all know the sith harnesses lightning bolts, force choke etc and are very adept at lightsaber duels. the Rens might have a different focus. as far as i can remember, the siths dont do mind tricks. in SWFA, kylo ren repetitively harness the force to retrieve information from captives, which i immediately spot "hey, u cant do that!" in the cinema lulz. what i'm saying is, knights of ren might not be adept at lightsaber duels. heck, kylo ren cant even kill off an entirely untrained, non-force sensitive lightsaber combatant when he confronted finn. anyways, jj abrams also outlined very early on that kylo ren and vader is quite different. in episode IV to VI vader was in his prime. he's badass. he's terrifying. but kylo ren in ep VII is basically a "birth of a villain" story. something of how he became even worse than vader, or something a long that line. i think i read this in empire magazine.

TFA hangs the mystery of who her parents are and left it at that. so when RO came out, everyone tries to see how jyn erso fits in episodes 4-7. could she be the love interest of luke? in the old expanded universe, luke fell in love with mara jade, the emperor's ex-assassin, married and had children with her. their children and the Solo siblings made up of the next generation of jedis, which is just about Rey's age. so people speculate if jyn erso would marry luke (she's probably a few years older than luke) and gives birth to rey. or maybe she married obiwan and got rey. but since the end of RO is like that, those two theories are clearly dispelled.
