I love this movie, and I greatly prefer this movie over Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The story takes place immediately after The Force Awakens, so this movie almost acts like Part 2 or some sorts to The Force Awakens movie.
The good stuffs
- Excellent space battles. - Mark Hamill is awesome as Luke Skywalker. - Good performances by returning characters like Poe and Finn. - Kylo Ren is a flawed, yet excellent recurring villain so far. - Good new characters like Holdo, Rose, and the "code breaker". - Great music by John Williams and the orchestra. - Excellent CGI.
The bad stuffs
- Many unnecessary subplots that do not mean anything. - Disappointing Snoke's role. - Disappointing Rey's origins reveal. - No mention of the Knights of Ren. - Extreme Mary Sue traits of Rey. - Lack of lightsaber battles. - Lack of Captain Phasma battles.
This movie took some risk, and it largely paid off. I give the movie a rating of 8.5/10.
My current Star Wars movies' ratings:
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - 6.5/10 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - 5.0/10 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - 8.5/10 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - 10/10 Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back - 10/10 Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of Jedi - 8.0/10 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens - 8.0/10 Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi - 8.5/10 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - 8.0/10

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Dec 14 2017, 09:07 PM) Wow 1 and 2 sucks 4 you but 3 so high😄😄interesting scores there😃😃4-8 i kinda agree hahahaha I used to like Episode I a lot, but changed my opinion a lot once I rewatched the movie recently. Personally, Episode II is the weakest movie in Star Wars series so far, and I really enjoy watching Episode III a lot due to the story, the darker tone, the rise of Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine's character. QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Dec 14 2017, 09:23 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Anyone feel the resistance bomber is a bit useless? It's such a huge target and it doesn't seem to have sufficient self defence. Where's the good ol Y Wings? Probably the Resistance do not have enough ships and people to fight the First Order. I think the Resistance are outnumbered since TFA. This post has been edited by Chaos Raiden: Dec 14 2017, 10:32 PM

Watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi last month, but forgot to post my review on this movie.
It is a good movie to me, but not great. This time, this movie takes a lot of risks, such as being an immediate sequel to the movie The Force Awakens. This movie is pretty dark, showing the Resistance at the losing side from the start until end of the movie, with tons of casualty.
The story is simple. Clever story flow when alternating between scenes, but the main plot may not be necessarily great. There are unnecessary scenes such as the Star Wars version of Las Vegas and a certain scene involving Leia Organa. The lightsaber battle between Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker is too damn short to me. There are still few good scenes in this movie, such as the main Resistance ship colliding with the Dreadnought ship in lightspeed and a certain Force power used by Luke.
I also have issues with many characters in this movie, such as the lack of character exposition or developments for Snoke, Rey, Finn, Leia Organa, Captain Phasma and Rose Tico. The only actual good characters that I like in this movie are Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker (despite some issues), Chewbacca, Admiral Hodo, Poe Dameron and Admiral Hux.
Kylo Ren's most defining moment is when he met up with Snoke and Rey, and that scene is a great callback to Revenge of the Sith-based video game's alternate ending. Luke Skywalker has more prominent role in this movie compared to The Force Awakens, but some of his character changes may not sit well for some viewers.
The CGI are really good too, and the costume designs are fantastic like other Star Wars movies. The music in this movie is decent, but not great. I do not find the soundtrack to be as great as the older soundtracks such as Revenge of the Sith, as that soundtrack has lots of defining character themes and stuff.
Overall, a good movie, yet can be a hit-or-miss movie to many viewers. I personally think this movie's setting and timeline should take place at least one or more years after The Force Awakens events to have better storyflow and better use of passage of time like the previous Star Wars movies.
Cautious recommendation to interested viewers. 7/10
Pros
- Interesting twist regarding Kylo Ren. - Luke Skywalker is back. - Lots of risky Star Wars formula changes that may or may not be good to viewers. - Great CGI. - Great costume designs.
Cons
- Setting of the movie takes place too soon after The Force Awakens. - Possibly hit-or-miss to the changes of the Star Wars formula. - Many unnecessary scenes. - Lack of character expositions such as Rey, Snoke, Knights of Ren, etc. - Not exactly memorable soundtrack.
