QUOTE(aiman04 @ Nov 19 2012, 05:54 PM)
That statement by Kathleen Kennedy was misread by many, she actually mean 2-3 films a year, not necessarily Star Wars. She wants Lucasfilm to be active in the film industry as it supposed to be. Maybe a serious drama, musical, comedy, animations, etc.
I know, that was many days ago I thought everyone knew it already. And Colin Trevorrow has just confirmed that he's not doing it, though he made sound as if he was actually considered by Lucasfilm as one of the candidates. Last week Frank Marshall did say they have narrowed down to a couple of candidates, with Colin out this means they've actually decided of the director. I'm guessing it could be somebody similar, from young/indie group, maybe Josh Trank?
*
Oh, I thought she was referring to only Star Wars when she said making 2 or 3 films per year, plus the article made it seems like she was referring to Star Wars. But now that you've mentioned it, yeah it seems more likely that she's not necessarily referring to Star Wars but maybe to other new films by Lucasfilm too.
Thanks for the heads up. smile.gif

Robert Pattinson Hearts Jar Jar Binks

Twilight star would take a role in Star Wars: Episode VII "in a heartbeat."

user posted image

Ever since Disney announced the buyout of Lucasfilm a couple of weeks ago, pretty much everybody who's anybody has had something to say on the news. And that includes one certain brooding vampire: Robert Pattinson.

Addressing the end of the Twilight series, the actor has been talking to the press about future projects and where he would go from here. That includes a Tabloid chat where he was asked if he would ever take on another franchise after one as time consuming as Twilight.

"Yeah, I think it's a powerful thing," he said. "You look at something like Star Wars. No one's going to call Star Wars a franchise." The actor then added, "Just after the new ones. [Laughs] The first three, that was a series, not a franchise." (We're not sure if we agree on this point, but whatever.)

When asked if he would consider taking a role in the new film, Pattinson replied, "In Star Wars? Oh, absolutely. In a heartbeat."

Even if that role was Jar Jar Binks, the interviewer continued? "I actually kind of like Jar Jar. I don't understand what the big deal is about Jar Jar."

Since JJ is directing, I hope he'll hire LOST's Michael Giacchino as the film's composer if John Williams is not returning.

Reason why Matthew Vaughn didn't get director position?

'Star Wars VII' To Have Female Lead? Chloe Moretz 'Proposed By JJ Abrams Rival'

Matthew Vaughn reportedly wanted 'Kick-Ass' star in movie

user posted image

'Star Wars VII' is now set to be directed by JJ Abrams, but is things had gone differently we could already be gearing up for cheering on Hannah Solo rather than Han, as Abrams' rival Matthew Vaughn reportedly wanted Chloƫ Grace Moretz cast in the lead role.

Abrams may take a different approach, but a strong female lead would surely make sense; ensuring that the movie has an appeal to female fans as well as sci-fi's traditional male audience.

In November 'Kick-Ass' director Vaughn was "accidentally confirmed" as the director of the movie by Jason Flemyng, who starred in the Vaughn directed 'X-Men: First Class'.

Website Film reported insiders as saying that Vaughn "may have pitched" for Moretz to be cast, also stating that he was one of three directors seriously considered alongside Abrams, Steven Spielberg and Ben Affleck.

However Spielberg, who wasn't interested, reportedly convinced Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy and Abrams to get together and make it happen.

Vaughn's pitch though shows how a strong female lead remains a possibility; after all in the 'Star Wars' universe females can be Jedi warriors just as much as the men can, even though the strongest female characters so far have been Princesses, Amidala and daughter Leia.

So will JJ go for a female lead? Sadly, now we'll have to wait for casting to find out.

Damn farking disappointed with the new faces. Wthoriy doing??? I can see Adam driver the only one that suits his role as villain to be remembered. But the other new faces are they joking. Just by the cast I can say this movie gonna sell tickets bcs of the franchise name. No way the new faces gonna become household names like skywalker or Hans solo. Damn disappointed with the casting...

Had they officially announced the full casts? So far I only know Adam Driver, Hugo Weaving and cast members from original trilogy.

So how many here willing to bet that some Sith will travel back in time to stop Luke from fulfilling his destiny and then this changes history resulting in an entirely new timeline separate from the original and hence all non movie extended universe content is now non canon?

I know this might be impossible but I hope Sith/Jedi aren't the main focus of this new trilogy or at least ep7. I hope there are far less lightsaber duels. Already got tired of those from the prequels. There should be only one or two characters that wield the lightsaber like in the original trilogy. Or maybe lightsabers should be absent from EP7 until near the end of movie when Luke finally appears and took out his lightsaber, would be hella epic and make the lightsaber feel cool again.

Well I hope so too. The prequels were really disappointing, story wise. They've forgotten that what made the originals wasn't all that gratuitous graphics and violence. Those were merely the icing. It was the story that made it great. That sense of wonder of a whole new world in a galaxy far far away. The sense of adventure. And the desperation of fighting against the odds.
That's a damn good idea, actually. Starve people of the force, before finally unleashing it at the end with Luke at the helm.

Perhaps an apprentice jedi, just struggling to learn the force and separated from his teacher. In an adventure with a rag tag bunch of characters while trying to rendezvous with his teacher. Then getting embroiled with a larger, more epic storyline involving the future of the republic, that climaxes with an epic battle where he finally reunites with his teacher, who, lo and behold, is Luke Skywalker.  brows.gif  drool.gif  drool.gif

yeah would be awesome if they did it like that. thumbup.gif Save Luke until near the end of the movie. And it feels just like the original Star Wars, farm boy buying 2 droids could lead to him saving the rebellion and blowing up the Death Star.

this is fake/fan made draft of EP7, I like how they treat Luke here

According to Latino Review, the Inquisitors are the villains of Star Wars Episode VII. ā€œThe Inquisitors are defenders of the Sith Order and they’ve been around for a long time. Just how long is what turns Episode VII’s story on it’s head.ā€

That’s a level one spoiler, now we get into even bigger spoilers.

I don't think Luke will be a villain. It makes no sense he would be so obsessed with the helm when he himself cremated his father. My guess is that he's going to be missing for a large portion of the TFA before revealing himself in the most spectacular way and the audience will cream themselves.
