QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 22 2009, 01:03 AM)
let's not forget Med@Marche is Mediterranean food. biggrin.gif Marché Mövenpick on the other hand is of a lower class and certainly not focusing on Mediterranean food.
*
LMAO now only i know. I've always thought the Med@Marche is the branch that serves mediterranean food whereas the one in curve serves german style ==

QUOTE(Mr.Wokayyy @ Dec 22 2009, 02:28 AM)
i've never been to the curve before. heard alot about it.
*
Curve is like a food haven! Once I get my driving license i'll be sure to patrol there alot icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyone can highlight proper Spanish restaurant around KL?
*
ElCerdo. They have a mix of German,Spanish and Italian food. Their Spanish cured ham is pretty authentic.

just ate at Elcerdo's yesterday.

Greek salad was nice. Very refreshing. Lotsa olives and goat cheese

The piglet is overrated. No match for the chinese suckling pig. Western grills cant match that of chinese anyway...

The pork shoulder steak was fine. Very tasteful.

Lamb leg was an out-of-this-world experience. Its so tender that for a few seconds i wondered if I was eating its liver. Taste was so-so only. Needed the sauce badly.

Overall it wasn't worth RM400+ ( ordered 2 drinks, 1 had a lil white wine in it). My previous visits were better, where I had the Spanish cured ham with rock melon and Paella.

Anyway my friend say the current canadian chef ain't as good as the previous one. Saying he plays too much with the dishes..too fancy..unauthentic.

Hmm...Most of my friend who admire Lafite too much like Damon over Kevin because Damon are fancy enough to make French on his way.
*
haha..we(at least for me and my friend) typical Malaysians just simply don't know how to appreciate it. I'd prefer the dishes in bigger portions and less fancy. Well, its Lafite..I guess they can't really do that. Any idea if Frangipani/Le Bouchon does otherwise?

If bigger portion, how do you want to eat all 3 or 5 course? Their portion are just right. Frangipani are more serving authentic French. I don't have idea about Le Bouchon.
*
We'r paying mainly for the presentation and all the fanciful fusion works..not practical for most people who want to taste really authentic stuff like ratatoiulle...etc. just my 2cents.

I think a true fine dining style still can be found at Lafite. IL Lido is the up and coming place for really good food too. Of course these places will cost you at least RM200 a person without wines!
*
+1

Service is exceptional. Ambience is good and there aren't too many patrons. Yes you may argue that good food usually draws the crowd but if you're seeking a pure fine-dining experience, LaFite is the place to go. I expect the new chef to uphold the restaurant's reputation with a new menu of authentic European cuisine. I just don't dig the whole idea of molecular gastronomy
