PLAYTIME shop is selling it at rm105, pretty cheap, consider it as a 'small' insurance against RROD.

PM arjunawong for details...

The first generation NYKO intercoolers insured against RROD, by melting the case instead of the hardware whistling.gif

Seriously though, I wouldn't trust NYKO anymore if I were you, judging from their past products.

in my opinion,if u put the xbox in the place that is not well ventilated, the nyko case will become hot and that is the reason for melting.the same thing happen to ts,when the ts case is hot, this intercooler will not function at all.a little modification can solve this problem.this newest intercooler have two thermistor that will measure the temp.1 thermistor is to measure the hot air from xbox and the other thermistor is to measure the ambient temp.First drill a small hole in the green part of the ts case, then stick the thermistor that used to measure the amb.temp outside the case threw the hole.now it will last a minute longer when u shutdown.like if 30sec before now it will last for 1min 30sec before the fan stop

Wrong, Nyko admitted themselves that the old design's socket will spark due to improper socket contact snd subsequently melted itself to the console housing.

New design like TS & EX will no longer have such problem. But my concern is adding such external cooling might have impect on intended design.

it might make a little differences but i do not think spend around rm150 worth it.why u dont combine nyko intercooler and pelican fan fan stand?look like even microsoft representative recommended it.and it only cost around rm50(not the pelican brand).vertical position is only bad if the surface where u put the xbox is not very flat.

btw,i dont think any shop in malaysia have the pelican fan stand.so if u buy any stand cooler like the one i bought,3 ,u need to cover the hole in the cooler with a filter like a net or anything like that to make sure that beside the cooler force an air to the 360,it will not force a dust alongside to your 360.

They recommende that not because they're good, they recommend it just because it's not tapping into proprietary power.

it is recommended but not endorsed.

Dude, before I further comment anything about cooler, some of the senior member might recall that I've even DIY a cooler based on Nyko's design and while it does help on the heat dissipation, it does not help at longevity at all because afterall I still have one screwed & claimed console.

My 2nd console does not run on any external cooler and I do not always shut it down due to various reason like download, battery charging and no save points.

Please don't make your own statement like people trying to bluff you. I do not earn anything by telling you not to waste money on external coolers.

before I continue, I would like to ask if china designed Nyko imitation counted in your list, yes I got one along with my console and I scrap it off as it does not perform as I expected and console screwed when it start to give sound like "ZZZzzzzz" on the console, then the DIY cooler and after the console is claimed, I still stick it on to the claimed console for few month. it's temp is lowered, but no where near what I wanted and the explaination is as below.

The 3RRoD as you know due to severed GPU ball joint, the reason behind it is due to heat, but not because of it cannot sustain the heat but the repeatitive of heating when power up & cooling when power down. This action causing the expansion/contraction of the GPU/CPU ball joint and due to xenon lacking of properly designed ball joint suspension layer, the ball joint will be severed due to repetitive heat cycle which causing parts dislocation and subsequently breaking the ball joint. The Falcon improved that but the suspension layer is still problematic until the very end of the production before the Jasper.

Now, based on this one can conclude that unless you have a colling system which can ensure the internal temperature is keep on par to ambient temp, else you can scrap the thing off.

I think you can find this information somewhere in the internet and forum. I forgot where I found such information.

Placing your console in an air conditioned room is better than you install monster cooler around it and this is proven to work even for xenon.

Now, understood why the external cooler will not solve 3RRoD problem and Microsoft do not increase the fan speed??
