so u wanna said that external cooler is useless because of your DIY intercooler didnt help?my brother have a xenon model 360 and he use a first model nyko intercooler with coolermaster cooler pad.he sold that xbox to my friend few month ago because he want a hdmi xbox.until now that xbox is still didnt have any prob.
before I continue, I would like to ask if china designed Nyko imitation counted in your list, yes I got one along with my console and I scrap it off as it does not perform as I expected and console screwed when it start to give sound like "ZZZzzzzz" on the console, then the DIY cooler and after the console is claimed, I still stick it on to the claimed console for few month. it's temp is lowered, but no where near what I wanted and the explaination is as below.
The 3RRoD as you know due to severed GPU ball joint, the reason behind it is due to heat, but not because of it cannot sustain the heat but the repeatitive of heating when power up & cooling when power down. This action causing the expansion/contraction of the GPU/CPU ball joint and due to xenon lacking of properly designed ball joint suspension layer, the ball joint will be severed due to repetitive heat cycle which causing parts dislocation and subsequently breaking the ball joint. The Falcon improved that but the suspension layer is still problematic until the very end of the production before the Jasper.
Now, based on this one can conclude that unless you have a colling system which can ensure the internal temperature is keep on par to ambient temp, else you can scrap the thing off.
I think you can find this information somewhere in the internet and forum. I forgot where I found such information.
Placing your console in an air conditioned room is better than you install monster cooler around it and this is proven to work even for xenon.
Now, understood why the external cooler will not solve 3RRoD problem and Microsoft do not increase the fan speed??
