"This is a game that will deliver a rich, fast-paced and intense 'Grand Theft Auto' experience that will be truly unique to Nintendo's handheld platform," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "Rockstar Leeds, along with the team at Rockstar North, has built upon a decade of progressive design on Grand Theft Auto, and has created something fundamentally fresh and immersive." Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is an entirely original entry into the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, and brings a new level of interactivity to its sprawling open environments. With the use of the DS touch screen, players will navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a true trademark of the franchise. Developed by Rockstar Leeds in conjunction with series creators Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available on the Nintendo DS™ in North America and Europe this winter. i remember reading a while back on kotaku when GTAIV came out and a rockstar executive said they don't "do" GTA on nintendo though he was talking more specifically about the prospect of GTAIV appearing on the wii.
well, they certainly are "doing" nintendo now.... |

The highest capacity for a DS cart, 1 GB. Evidence, Archaic Sealed Heat.
With 1 GB in a cart, I think it is possible for a liberty city in 3D, but not too expanded than the console iterations. Notable examples are like Transformers (Great amount of voice acting, 3D robots) and the FF 3 and 4 examples. Though, I don't think I wud mine playing GTA, on a level to level basis though. |

QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Jul 16 2008, 11:14 AM) The highest capacity for a DS cart, 1 GB. Evidence, Archaic Sealed Heat. That is a tad misleading. Archaic Sealed Heat is on 2Gb, now pay attention to the small letter "b". 1Gb equals to 128MB, 2Gb = 256MB, and that is the biggest capacity of an NDS cartridge currently. A GTA on NDS doesn't really surprise me, seeing how the GBA had its own GTA, those screenshots are funny though. This post has been edited by Kellicros: Sep 21 2008, 12:28 PM |

QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Jul 16 2008, 11:14 AM) The highest capacity for a DS cart, 1 GB. Evidence, Archaic Sealed Heat. ASH's cart size is 2 gigabits, which is equivalent to 2048 megabits, and one byte is 8 bits. Therefore, the game is only 256 megabytes. MB = megabyte, Mb = megabit. With 1 GB in a cart, I think it is possible for a liberty city in 3D, but not too expanded than the console iterations.
