Wondering how is Kuen Cheng High School nowadays?
Any idea anyone? School culture, discipline etc?
Academic based or All rounded?

Any streaming of classes and do teachers treat students differently if kids are not in the 'high performing' classes?
Are PT3 and SPM compulsory?

Do most PJ students who choose Chinese Indpt School go to Kuen Cheng?

Catholic High School, PJ!

Exams in CHS are hard compared to other schools so it made you work hard more, and feel that gov exams aren't that hard haha

well i believe it's not easy to enter now. during my time (5years ago) it was still considered easy to enter as long as you got good results. nowadays students with straight A in UPSR can't even get in.

I dont think CHSPJ is the best school. The quality of teachers there has been dropping over the years.

Most of the student who scored straight A's are usually having tuition outside.

But in terms of discipline, I would say that CHSPJ is quite strict on it.

Yea, I am a CHSPJ alumni 3 years back.

Don't start talking about SMK LA SALLE PJ, the headmaster is a fukn drunken during the 2004-2008 period, come to sch drunk and abuse student in the public. student use to smoke pot everyday in the scout den. 70% of all the students after SPM never further their studies and. worst part is always got case polis where police comes over to the sch and takeover the matter as the problem that the students offend is a criminal act.

SMK SAS? u must be kidding, SAS and La salle are like brother hood schools, when one gets buang sekolah SAS ---> LA SALLE PJ, LA SALLE PJ ---> SAS. they get a hereoes welcome when a student from SAS comes to LSPJ.

No doubt the only thing good about LSPJ is the soccer team back then.

Come to CHS PJ, yes its a chinese school, i am not chinese educated but when i was shifted over there, i had the best time in my life. in terms of academic, students wise and peer pressure to slightly do better. now we have our own sport complex and ya da yada which i did not get to enjoy, discipline wise is strict, but being an ******* my self i did had my loopholes, regardless i had the 2 best years in my life in CHS PJ. and i am really really happy to be there. thus i vote it as the best school in PJ, without a doubt.

COme to SMK DJ, u got to be kidding compare to the statistics with SMK DJ and CHS...??

i have somany friends from SMK DJ during the 2003-2008 era, can verify half of the girls are sluts...

agree. CHSPJ discipline damn strict. Little bit also kena. But I think that's what makes a good student?

Last time, I work my ass off just to get into first class since f2-f5.

SMK KATHOLIK got more than 220 8 As in pmr ( so many until the pibg cant afford to give us cash damn it ) .. and countless 10 As and above in spm on 2008(it means u will be crying a side if u get 8 - 9 As and below )  .. .. any school want to compare .? i will give you exact details .. when i can get on hold with the more accurate information ..
*
So have you? 😂
Just graduated form 5, planning to go back for form 6 and currently teaching there part time
For spm 2016 38.09% got 9As and above
For pt3 2017 55% got 7As and above
We are not the best in academics nor are we the best in co-curriculum, but I'll definitely cite our school for having the most all-rounders.

Our people are in MPYO, won Bronze in ping pong for sea games 2015, you can have arguments with the teacher over add maths and physics...those were our memories

The dedicated teachers are still there, the younger teachers are really good too. But most of them are in the morning session cos all the major exam students are there.

Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur was top school in Malaysia for SPM results in 2015 and 2017. It is a private school and in 2015 they took out national newspaper advertisements to congratulate their SPM students (GPS score of 1.13) and immediately got a written warning from Ministry of Education.

So when they repeated the feat in 2017 and got best SPM results in the whole country again, no more advertisements and in fact, if you look at the "official best SPM government school list for 2017" the top school is listed as Sekolah Tun Fatimah Johor with a GPS score of only 1.31, whereas the Wesley Methodist School GPS score for 2017 was 1.19

The lower the GPS (Gred Purata Sekolah) score, the better the school's SPM results are. However, Wesley Methodist school is now doing full IGCSE instead of SPM with their last batch of SPM students in 2018.

Reviving this thread that was updated 3-4 years ago.

Does anyone have any recent experience and insights with Catholic High School PJ:

1. Are Science and Mathematics still taught in English according to the DLP? And would the SPM examination papers be available with an English option?

2. Is Chinese Literature (華文文學) still offered as a subject for SPM? (Note: Chinese Literature, not Chinese Language - they are two (2) different subjects, and the latter is a compulsory SPM-examinable subject for SMJK's).

3. One of the forumers above mentioned that "the standards have dropped", is this true and has it been a significant drop?

4. Do most CHS students attend tuition at TTC just outside the school, and for what subjects in general?

5. Any comments regarding their extra-curricular activities? I was told that their uniformed groups are very active.

Chinese Language as a compulsory subject all the way till SPM is actually what I want for my kids, which is why I am keen on CHS. In terms of language proficiency, SMJKs probably achieve the best balance, and I gather that if one completes SPM Chinese Language with a decent grade, you will have achieved a very good proficiency in the language to utilise it in a professional context, and the standard is pretty comparable to that of the Chinese Independent High Schools.
