A supplementary can have different statements but it cannot be a standalone card. Meaning, you cannot have an unrelated card.

If he uses your card to lend money, he will still have to pay for it. The bank will not charge you but your brother. All responsibilities of supplementary cards will be under the main card.

I beg to differ, just to set things straight, have anyone of you heard of ''joint and several liability'' whenever you sign up for a card? Theres no such thing as supp has got nothing to do with basic, and vice-versa, try running away with the card your mom or dad supp to you and see

This does not apply to personal credit cards. Please get your facts straight.

Added on September 16, 2008, 2:10 amThis is, to me, the worse credit card companies:

1: UOB, the worse customer service. (cancelled)

2: RHB, slowest customer service, which does not get the job done. (applied for a supp 2 months ago. Asked me for supp's I/C 5 times which i gave)

3: Citibank, uses your database for advertising their nonsence. (was about to cancel caused they sms'ed me at 3am on some advert)

4: Amex platinum Normal and CC, well.. its managed by maybank now, need i say more? (might cancel but paid 2k+ for their service fee)

Only two credit cards I have no complaints. HSBC and Standard Chartered.

And yes they are all platinums so makes no difference in customer service here.

@Animeinter,
I'm surprised U had issues with UOB - neither me nor my family members have had issues with UOB and I've been using their CC since 1994.

@hye,
The CitiGold card is quite useful when U want to consolidate ALL ur Citibank accounts online; just need to create online login for that and all ur other accounts will be reflected on it [well there are pros and cons - and I don't like the idea it reflects FD accounts] but I love the fact I don't need to log into separate accounts for MasterCard and Visa biggrin.gif

I am glad you have no problems with UOB. As for me, this is what happened:

1: Took them 3 months to finally send my cc statement. After I have made numerous complaints, they still call me asking me for late payment. I mean I do not even have my statement. Why should I pay for something I am not billed?

2: I travel alot hence I get many calls from my CC company verifying my purchase. However, it ALWAYS takes UOB 6 hours or more before calling to verify. So much for security.

3: Whenever I called them, my call timer on my hp says 5 mins before I can even speak to their platinum customer service.

So yea, for me, they top the list for being the worse. I hope none of you go thru the same nonsence.
