Personal equipment
Modem + Router: D-Link ADSL DSL-520B (1 RJ-45 Port)
Access Point: TP-Link WR542G (4 RJ-45 port and 1 WAN port)

Problem details
Problem description: My friend always download from internet 24/7. Please help me setup QOS on my D-Link modem. My Tp-Link AP dont have the QOS feature only my modem have. So this is my connection>>

Internet << Modem << Access Point

So when I type 192.168.1.1 I can only access my AP web interface but the problem is my AP don't have the QOS feature. So is there anyway I can access my modem web interface and setup the QOS... or this is not possible at all.. blush.gif

both modem and AP can be access with 192.168.1.1 but right now only AP can access web admin because modem already connect to AP WAN port. I don't see any bridge function in my AP but have this Static Routing function... same eh?? blush.gif

you need to change the TP-Link to 192.168.2.1
then try access yr D-Link with 192.168.1.1

Need screen shot from
Basic Settings>Network (Expand it)
Advanced Settings>Forwarding (Expand it)
Advanced Settings>IP & MAC Binding (Expand it)

even you manage get it work.

you might lost the TP-Link wireless capability. becaz D-Link will become router with (QoS).

another workaround, for wireless to work.
router behind router
1st router D-Link & 2nd router TP-Link
-internet performance degraded
-port forwarding, partial working
-QoS limited/partial working
-if you can't access to D-Link(QoS) thru TP-Link, tweaking QoS even harder.

decide yrself smile.gif

This is your Public IP address that allow u to access internet. Just like LAN IP, but this one is WAN IP.

If u enabled remote access of your modem, u will be able to access and configure your modem through this Public IP with corresponding port:
Example: http://219.93.218.177:8080/

Public IP could be different every time u reconnect your modem to internet. Else your register a Static IP from your ISP (Streamyx), then u will always get the same Public IP.
Example: http://216.239.51.99/ is one of google.com Public IP.

Just share my study. ^^

The TP-Link Wireless G router don't have QoS function only Wireless N have this function. doh.gif doh.gif
I wonder why the engineer don't want to write the firmware to upgrade Wireless G router to have this QoS function shakehead.gif shakehead.gif
