Has anyone ever thought of getting an arcade joystick for fighting games on your Xbox 360, PS3 or PC? I'm been wondering how we gonna play these games with gamepad without hurting your fingers on long periods of play especially on SF4. lol

You will be asking for a good beating in the game if you keep slamming the buttons tongue.gif

If you got credit card there, we both can order this: X-Arcade

That thing cost RM422 (PC Adapter included). Add RM112 for PS2/PS3 adapters. Need to have PS2 adapter in order to use the PS3 adapter. That whooped up to RM534 tongue.gif

For lower budget, Hori fighting stick are available at Play-Asia but only support PS3 through the USB port.

Wah, that thing is so pricey. I remember old Sega and Capcom joysticks costs around RM100-150 for single, RM 250 for double. Their joysticks are in high quality too.

Yeah it is very pricey but it is very tough durable as well. They even dare to offer lifetime warranty. It is very hard to get those older joystick nowadays.

I know that is a good one but I think I'll see what I can find for other brands and keep you posted. X-Arcade is still a bit ridiculous for the price.

Play-asia sells some nice joysticks with positive reviews. I wonder if anyone tried any of those yet.

Good find but i have actually browsed that page for the gaming controllers. All of them are single player only.

That Sega Virtua Stick buttons is a mess. Saulabi looks good, circle holed but too bad don't have the double one nor support PS3.

I see, where did you get those?

Sega Virtua Stick High Grade:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl-49-en-70-1rjw.html

I think this one is the same or better than the joystick they used on their arcade cabinets.

RM256 for a one player joystick. lol

At least it is quality built like X-Arcade. I still prefer Sega because I used their old virtua stick before.

If you have PSX or PS2 joystick lying around, you can try using Rockfire PSX/USB Bridge for the PC or PS3. The stupid link in their website is anchored.

http://www.rockfire.com.tw

The shop next to C-Zone used to sell PSX/USB bridge long time ago.

Yeah, hopefully they'll get the better ones when more fighting games are out.

Edit: Found 1 shop at Sg Wang that sells Sega Virtua Stick High Grade for PS3 and PC at around RM300. They take orders but they can't guarantee if they can get the stock.

I have a Hori Real Arcade Pro stick for PS2 and I've been using it for over 5 years now. It's huge and expensive, but damn solid and durable. I can connect it to my PC using an adapter to play GGPO matches, but I haven't tried it out on a PS3 yet.

I have no idea on the cheap ones but there is one shop at Sungei Wang Plaza, Lower Ground floor near Parkson entrance that sells Hori arcade stick.

I'm sure the prices you order from the shops includes shipping fees. It won't be much of a difference unless you wanna bulk order if you know the people.

Thanks TristanX i think i will go Sungai Wang and check it out someday.

For other info ALL IT at lowyat plaza do sell arcade stick but only 1 type around RM60 and is kinda small not very comfortable for hand placement. To me it does not look solid so i didnt buy wanted a better one but for other wanted a simply one can have a look at it.

If anyone have any other arcade stick info to share i will be very grateful. Having hard time finding a good. I have a rockfire PS2 controller to USB convertor which work fine with my PS2 dual shock controller but i am worried if i buy a PS2 arcade stick it will have delay in button press. Anyone have experience in this ?

RM60? I'd question the quality of the stick and buttons. Is it one of those knockoffs Hori Tekken 5 sticks?

I'm using a PS2 to USB converter for my PS2 Hori Real Arcade Pro stick and there's no noticeable delay in button press. If you're playing online, the only thing you have to be concerned about is the lag. tongue.gif

Oww, 6th floor. I see.

Wahhahaa, I did that before using the soldering pen, on a real arcade machine. tongue.gif

The reason why this Virtua Stick is highly priced is because of the weight and the size. The mailing cost is high. I think this Virtua Stick won't break down for some time. My first one for Saturn lasted me years. It's easy to fix them when you have a soldering pen. tongue.gif

But after 3 months of using to play fighting games, the stick died, but the buttons are still working. laugh.gif

Rockfire PS2 to USB converter is really good because there is no delay in response. I have fren who bought other model converter and there is a delay while playing PES2008. I bought it from ALL IT long time ago.

If cannot find a good converter better buy a logitech gamepad which is USB interface so confirm no delay issue.

Btw no news on arcade stick yet so hard to find a good one for PC. I might really end up buying PS2 arcade stick and use with the rockfire converter and pray it wont have any delay. Anyone have contact for any gameshop that sell a lot of PS2 arcade stick ?

Edit: Those who cannot find converter can try http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-14-71-6m-49-en.html is free shipping for below weight and cost http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-freeshipping-49-en.html

Does anyone have this joystick ? http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dd-49-en-70-26p2.html

Any opinions/comments on it would be appreciated, I think it might be the only one or few thats available from playasia and compatible with the xbox360. I've just ordered Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for the Xbox, and that will keep me occupied till SFIV is out, apart from playing SFA3 as well on the emu.

WTF, you can buy arcade stick for RM 20? Tell me where, I'll stock up several of those in case it broke. I'm willing to spend up to around RM 100 for a stick.

I didn't wait for it cause it was available the day I bought it. Check with Games Hypermart at Sungei Wang Plaza 6th Floor.

Cool! I'll go check it out later tonite. Btw, any idea how the one you have compares to the Hori Real Arcade Pro? Apparently the Hori has a lifetime guarantee. Not sure what they mean by 'lifetime guarantee' though. Don't think they'll just keep replacing parts for you when it's broken, rite??

You don't need lifetime guarantee for the switches on Virtua Stick. It is replaceable if something goes wrong and you have a soldering pen. Just buy the parts from Jalan Pasar and replace it. hehe

I don't know much about Hori's though.

I don't know much about Horis too. Except that it's freakin expensive! tongue.gif

So what kind of games do u play with the Virtua Stick? Street fighter alpha was just launched on the US PSN and I was thinking of buying that. But don't know how to. Kinda waiting for it to hit the SG PSN, but no news bout it.

Thank you TristanX. Thanks to you, I found myself an arcade stick in Sungai Wang.

I bought the PS3 Hori Soul Calibur IV stick aka Fighting Stick 3, even though I don't own a PS3, after visiting about 7 shops in Sungai Wang and then immediately doing extensive research online at a cyber cafe.

There are many reports that this particularly stick, often abbreviated as HFS3, doesn't work with WinXP.

I'm proud to announce that it worked flawlessly for me.

WinXP identifies the unit as FIGHTING STICK 3, but the X-Y Axis is recognised as a POV Hat.

Some emulators would not recognise POV Hats as a input method, but MAME does. I have yet to test the HFS3 on the GGPO emulator.

There is at least 4 units of HFS3 (with one without the Soul Calibur sticker) in the various shops around Sungai Wang.

I bought mine for RM280, after a lot of haggling. If you get it cheaper, good for you.

------------

Note: The Xbox360 equivalent of HFS3 is the HEX2 (or is it HEX3?). Many forums, including shoryuken.com, teaches you how to make it work for PC. But beware, its not 100% guaranteed.

Hi,

I went on a fruitless stroll in the WHOLE of Sg Wang today. Sigh. Found nothing.

Initially one shop told me got Soul Calibre FIghting Stick for PS3 but NOT Hori. I was like WTF? He keep on mentioning "ORI" instead of Hori. But in the end, he checked with his warehouse or HQ or whatever. No stock. Sigh.

Guys. Cheap sticks are pretty shitty. I bought one from Topway, called the "Tekken 2" with KOF + Samurai Showdown stickers on it. Its really really bad and the sticker really 'sore-hi'

I have took apart the cheap stick and trying to source parts because the housing is pretty good. Anyone knows where to get arcade parts in Malaysia?

Now, my HFS3/SCIV stick is pretty good, but shoryuken.com people will tell you that it won't last very long with heavy playing (I play SFIII3S everyday since I bought it 1 month ago, still ok).

HFS3 sticks uses MADE-IN-CHINA Hori joystick + buttons. the Hori Real Arcade Pro (HRAP) uses Sanwa (very reputable) joystick + Hori MIC buttons.

HFS3 is not difficult to mod into high quality parts, but sourcing parts in Malaysia is NOT EASY. I'm still trying and talking to arcade shop owners/electricians for leads. No luck.

In all, I would highly recommend the Sega Virtua Stick High Grade which Tristan X has. Sanwa buttons and stick. Price varies from RM350 - RM500 in local shops and are very very very rare.

Tristan X: You lucky *******! tongue.gif

MINI ANNOUNCEMENT: If anyone wants to group-buy Sega Virtua Stick High Grade, I know one guy who might do it for us in Sungai Wang. He didn't seem interested when I was the only person asking for it.

If I can find 2 or more people who wants to bulk buy Sanwa parts from USA, please PM me.

If anyone wants to mod their joysticks visit shoryuken.com.

those who want to mod their HFS3 visit: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=136372

Hatred____: Go to the '6th floor' of Sungai Wang. The shop called GAMERS HIDEOUT or something like that (only 2 shops on that floor selling games) should have ready stock of HFS3 (Soul Calibur IV). He will try to sell you at RM330, try to ask him reduce to AT LEAST RM280 (which I paid at another shop). Warning: May not work on computer.

How's the Penang arcade scene now? I used to play at Sg Wang during the golden arcade days there.

High quality stick, but it is highly recommended that potential buyers test it out.

Some people, like me, cannot get used to its clicky edges at all.

Also, if you are on tighter budget, you can opt for the Fighting Stick 3 from HORI. It retails for much less than the HRAP3, but with the same feel.

The downsides compared to the HRAP3 are that it is very light so you may change angle in the heat of gaming, and oso pressing 3Ps together (important for SF4 ultras) may not be as reliable as the HRAP3.
