Toy Story 3 is an upcoming American computer-animated 3-D film being produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the third installment in the Toy Story series and is scheduled for release on June 18, 2010, in the United States. Lee Unkrich, who edited the previous films and co-directed the second, takes over as director. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have been confirmed to return to voice the characters of Woody and Buzz respectively.

Plot

Andy is departing for college, and his toys, including Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen), are going to be put in the attic. Before they can be put in the attic, they are accidentally thrown away and are picked up by the garbage men. The toys find themselves at a local day-care center, where they must try to survive the playful but careless pre-school children. Woody attempts to save his friends and find themselves a new home, but matters are further complicated when Buzz is damaged during an escape attempt. The toys try to reset Buzz, but end up causing him to revert to a Spanish version of his delusions of being a space ranger, much to the other toys' discomfort.

Cast

Tom Hanks as Woody
Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear
Joan Cusack as Jessie
John Ratzenberger as Hamm
Wallace Shawn as Rex
Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head
Estelle Harris as Mrs. Potato Head
Jodi Benson as Barbie
Michael Keaton as Ken
Blake Clark as Slinky Dog
John Morris as Andy Davis
Laurie Metcalf as Mrs. Davis
Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants
Ned Beatty
Jeff Garlin
Bonnie Hunt
Whoopi Goldberg
Kristen Schaal

Lee Unkrich has confirmed on his Twitter account that Bo Peep, RC, Lenny, and Wheezy will appear in Toy Story 3. He also confirmed that there will be an animated short attached to the film

Development

According to the terms of Pixar's revised deal with Disney, all characters created by Pixar for their films were owned by Disney. Furthermore, Disney retained the rights to make sequels to any Pixar film, though Pixar retained the right of first refusal to work on these sequels. But in 2004, when the contentious negotiations between the two companies made a split appear likely, Disney Chairman at the time Michael Eisner put in motion plans to produce Toy Story 3 at a new Disney studio, Circle 7 Animation. Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, indicated a willingness to return even if Pixar was not on board

Jim Herzfeld wrote a script for Circle 7's version of the film. It focused on the other toys shipping a malfunctioning Buzz to Taiwan, believing that he will be fixed there. While searching on the Internet, however, they find out that the malfunctions are happening to many toys around the world and the company has issued a massive recall. Fearing Buzz's destruction, a group of Andy's toys (Woody, Rex, Slinky, Mr. Potato Head, Hamm, Jessie, and Bullseye) venture to rescue Buzz. At the same time Buzz meets other toys from around the world that were once loved but have now been recalled.

In January 2006, Disney bought Pixar in a deal that put Pixar chiefs Edwin Catmull and John Lasseter in charge of all Disney Animation. Shortly thereafter, Circle 7 Animation was shut down and its version of Toy Story 3 was shelved. The following month, Disney CEO Robert Iger confirmed that Disney was in the process of transferring the production to Pixar. John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, and Lee Unkrich visited the house where they first pitched Toy Story and came up with the story for the film over a weekend. Stanton then wrote a treatment. On February 8, 2007, Catmull announced Toy Story 2's co-director, Lee Unkrich, as the sole director of the film instead of John Lasseter, and Michael Arndt as screenwriter. The release date was moved to 2010.

Instead of sending Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and John Ratzenberger scripts for their consideration in reprising their roles, a complete story reel of the film was shown to the actors in a theater. The reel was made up of moving storyboards with pre-recorded voices, sound effects, and music. At the conclusion of the preview, the actors signed on to the film

Marketing

The film's first teaser trailer was released with the Disney Digital 3-D version of the film Up on May 29, 2009. On October 2, 2009 Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were re-released as a double feature in Disney Digital 3-D. The first full-length trailer was attached as an exclusive sneak peek to the Toy Story double feature, on October 12, 2009.

Mattel and Lego are among those who will make toys to promote the film. Disney Interactive Studios will also produce a video game based on the film

Mr. Pricklepants Revealed in New Toy Story 3 Mini-Featurette

user posted image

While there’s very little new material in the new Toy Story 3 featurette Drawn to Animation, what little there is has premium fan value. Finally, we’re given our first look at Mr. Pricklepants, the pretentious thespian stuffed-toy Hedgehog who seems set to be one of the major additions to the cast. Of course, we still have no idea at all what role he actually plays in the story. Maybe he’s fundamental, maybe he’s not but you can pretty much guarantee he won’t just be an irrelevant adjunct. Those kind of narrative loose ends just don’t exist in Pixar pictures.

See the full clip for yourself after this break and get to hear Pricklepants speak. He’s been voiced by Timothy Dalton, who has probably the most geek-centric resume of any Bond - Dr. Who, Hot Fuzz, some Ghibli dubbing, Looney Tunes, even the Flash Gordon movie…

According to Upcoming Pixar, this clip premiered on the Disney Channel. They also observed that Pricklepants looks somewhat like Winnie the Pooh, and I can definitely see that

Good stuff, huh? And a fun take on what 3D is going to offer us.

When Disney held a pick press event back in the autumn and then later at the D23 event, they showed this footage of Pricklepants alongside the first full length Toy Story 3 trailer. I think we mere mortals who were not in the room are now up to date on all of the Pixar footage that has been showcased.

Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich yesterday tweeted:

Enjoying the last day I can say “Toy Story 3 doesn’t come out ’til next year.”

And today, we can all enjoy the fact that it’s out this year. Finally. To say there’s a lot of expectations suspended over this one would be putting it mildly. There was a while when Pixar and Disney were going their separate ways, when the Circle 7 team were put in charge of making a third Toy Story, that the future of the franchise looked rather bleak… thankfully, that now all feels like a fading bad dream.

Toy Story 1 & 2's 3D is awful.
there was barely anything 3dimensional about it.

Toy Story 2 felt slightly better than 1, but considering 1 was barely noticeable to beginwith,it's not much of a compliment

Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999)

What a difference 4 years makes!!

The strides Pixar made between Toy Story and Toy Story 2 is staggering!

Pixar learned how NOT to animate people in Toy Story and did not repeat the mistake in Toy Story 2.

Also, the technology differences between 1995 (it is interesting how they had to animate Video and cassette tapes for the movie) and 2010 is also staggering, I remember watching Toy Story on LD and now, am waiting for the 3D version on Blu-Ray with much anticipation.

The 3D for Toy Story and Toy Story 2 is NOT as immersive as How To Train Your Dragon, and would like to add the depth is alot better then lets say my DVD copy.

I have yet to see a Pixar 3D that makes me excited like How To Train our Dragon, which is puzzling.

Then again Robert Zemecski have been trying hard but not achieve much with all the resource he and Disney had poured into ImageMovers to the point of Disney closing it down because it is NOT very profitable!

Not sure if Pixar is feeling the 3D movement, but they sure as hell make GREAT movie.

It was great watching Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in the cinema.

Like what happened for Toy Story 1 and 2, I read the book before the movies were released and Toy Story 3 seems like a riot. Appetite whet.

Would just like to share with regards to the ending, I couldn't think of a classier way to end the series and although the book was definitely for kids, I nearly cried thinking of how the ending would pan out on the screen.

Ratatouille...
Wall-E... [still my No.1 most highly rated 3D animated movie]
UP...

Three Oscar winners in a row. Three of the best animated flicks in recent times. Can "Toy Story 3" be right there with them?

As always, we get a teaser at the next PIXAR film, and this time it will be Cars 2. "Cars" (2006) in my opinion is not PIXAR's strongest flick to date.

I agree that Cars isn't their best, but it is a testament to Pixar's brilliance that even when they're not at their best, they still make a good movie.

the 3D absolutely sucks in this movie.

for those who have seen Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D,this movie is no different.

what's most facepalm worthy is that this movie is a 2010 release, and not a 1995 release!

the movie itself is typical Toy Story, with abit of a mix bag of sad/happy ending.

great.
loved it.
thought the 3d was better than in 1&2.
movie-wise? it's definitely more fun but better? it's getting tiring seeing buzz/woody saving the day. i mean, for mr potato head and gang, you'd think that after nearly two decades under woody that it'd be best to just STFU and listen to him, right?

btw, that sid cameo is a f***ing joke. it's just his f***ing t-shirt!

Watched it at 1U GSC (12pm show).

One word - - remarkable!

Without even reading a single review, I gave the film a score of [9] immediately after watching it.... but you never know the critics... then checked out the reviews. To my (a little bit) surprise, it was just all out overwhelmingly positive response!

Toy Story 3 delivers on ALL grounds. And I mean all. From the iconic feel of Toy Story 1, to the awesome adventure that was Toy Story 2 and the incredibly ensemble of the Woody & Buzz gang, this is a three-quel you DON'T WANT TO MISS.

And yes, I enjoyed this more than last year's "Up".

Story 9.5
Fantastic. What more could you ask for. And I mean what more. This is the core of what made Toy Story and Toy Story 2 huge hits. Andy and his toys. The toys and Andy. This is one heart-warming story for all ages, not just for kids. This is brilliance.

3D Animation 10/10
I knew I would say this - - much, much more improved than Toy Story and Toy Story 2. The plastic feel of the toys, the furriness, the clunky movements of the robots, everything just has that PIXAR midas touch. You can't go wrong here. PIXAR has not put a single foot wrong in Toy Story 3's animation. Absolutely fantastic. It must have been a nightmare animating all the toys. And the 'death by monkey' opening sequence was 'Wow-tastic'.

Pacing 9/10
Loved it. This is a place where I had issues when watching "Up". The pacing here is non-stop breathaking adventure. From the first minute to the last minute - - you will love every second of it. I know I did. Every moment including the dramatic 'altercations' between Woody and Buzz, the toys and the evil gang of Sunnyside, everything was brilliantly paced.

Music and others... 9/10
"You got a friend in me..." biggrin.gif Ahh... memories. Some serious iconic moments there. And to make it even better, it is in Espanol! laugh.gif To be frank, the music here is very much similar to the previous films, and heck, why bother bringing in completely new tunes when the old, is a complete classic. I loved it very much. The ending credits had no 'blooper' reel (which is the case for Toy Story 2). Instead it is a nice touch to the overall story arch of how the toys etc. etc. Watch it yourself!

The short film "Day & Night". One word again - - genius! I loved it. I thought it was going to be another one of those typical 3D short films where the 'story' is brief but brilliant. Not the case here. Absolute creativity in making the two characters do what they do. This is fantastic! Loved it to bits. nod.gif

"Cars 2" Teaser was missing. I thought I recall watching the teaser for PIXAR's next film in Ratatouille, Wall-E and UP. Not the case here. Oddly, it was missing.

...there's a snake in my boot
This is one of the best PIXAR films to date. Yes. That means this sits comfortably with my most loved 3D flick of all time "Wall-E". And I can't believe I have to say this, I did not believe Toy Story 3 would deliver the goods. nod.gif I was a little bit afraid that the critics might say "Toy Story 3" is the film to hit the rough bump on the road after 3 uberly successful films (Ratatouille, Wall-E and UP).

Not the case here. Toy Story 3 is genius. It is dramatic, heart-warming and very much what you come to expect from the world's most amazing 3D animation studio.

Final Verdict
A MUST WATCH. This flick beats out every film I watched this year. And I did not expect that. If you did watch Toy Story 1 and 2, do yourself a favor by watching this! For those who love 3D animated flicks (or PIXAR films), watch it too. Money well spent.

9.5
+0.5 for "3D". The "3D" is present and that is all there is to it. Nothing too spectacular about the 3D, but taking the glasses off and putting it on definitely sees "3D" is present, hence the increase in score.

Two thumbs up and an honorary award to PIXAR for making me believe in them, yet again.

Ehhh.....tbh I've seen quite a lot of 3D films and as far as I remember, only Avatar was truly worth every penny spent but that's just me.

So my answer would be no but if you have seen almost every other film in 3D as well and liked it, I guess you'll like this.

I felt it was better than 3D for 1 and 2 though.

also had to add that I agree with default's review except on the story bit which I feel is the weakest among all 3 TS films but entertainment value and sheer nostalgia, f***ing ace!

Day and Night (or the other way round) was a delight!

Okay. I admit it.

I was a skeptic.

When I first heard of this movie, boy was I skeptic!!

I went to watch it today and I was BLOWN away.

It is FRESH, NEW and is STILL very true to the first two.

They really, REALLY got the story right.

It really is.

Ever single person in the cinema with me young or aged understand everything about it.

We laughed, cried and was at the edge of our seats, when the story call for it.

Kudos Pixar.

I should NOT have doubted u!!

Please make sure you are NOT late for the movie, the shorts at the beginning of the movie (Day and Night) is PURE GENIUS. This is the first time I see Pixar using hand drawn animation and it is also CGI!! COnfused!!??!! Just go watch it!! laugh.gif

Could this be the first trilogy to garner a perfect 100% for each film? Staggering achievement.

Of course, Armond White hasn't reviewed it yet. You can bet your bollocks he's gonna give it a bad rating.

time to say one last goodbye to toy story 1,2 & 3 as this will be our last time watching them on the big screen.

wait, hold on. toy story 4 ? nah, but who knows. see you guys again on June 24th 2011.

Toy Story Toon coming with Cars 2

user posted image

Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich revealed in a just-published interview (and on Twitter) that there will be a new short film with the characters of Toy Story attached to Cars 2, in theatres June 24 next summer.

“Well, I really tried my best to end the story of Andy and his toys and bring that story to a close in a really nice way at the end of this film. That being said, we know that people love the characters, love Woody and Buzz, and would hate to say good-bye to them completely. I don’t know that there would ever be a ‘[Toy Story] 4.’ We don’t have any plans for one — but we are trying to find ways to keep the characters alive. We have announced we’re going to do a short film in front of ‘Cars 2′ that uses the ‘Toy Story’ characters. We’re going to keep them alive; they’re not going away forever.”

This will undoubtedly be one of the new Toy Story Toons produced at Pixar Canada in Vancouver and will probably play in addition to the regular theatrical short we've come to expect.

Very exciting news for those of us who were sad at the thought of never seeing the toys on the big screen again after Toy Story 3.

I grew up in the 90's so this movie is a must watch for me. The previous two movies are my favourite back when I was a kid. The plot though is what you expect from the movie. The old cast is back with some new characters (Totoro! Well, albeit just a cameo..). The ending though really brought me to tears

Toy Story 3 Finally Gets Negative Review, Becomes The Second Best Reviewed Movie Of All Time

user posted image

When the Rotten Tomatoes twitter account announced that Toy Story 3 still had a 100% fresh rating with over 130 reviews and counting, I got excited. I’ve seen the movie twice now, and it deserves all the praise it has and will recieve. The reason I got excited is that it had the chance to become the best reviewed movie in the history of cinema (this according to Rotten Tomatoes of course, albeit still a milestone achievement).

I’m not going to debate the merits of the achievement — best reviewed film of all time doesn’t mean best movie of all time. Also, as we know Rotten Tomatoes is not based on a scale of enjoyment, just thumbs up or down. Meaning, the best reviewed film of all time on Rotten Tomatoes means the largest percentage of possitive reviews.

With 147 100% positive reviews, Toy Story 2 has held the coveted top slot for eleven years and counting. The film to come closest was the 2008 documentary Man On Wire — 100% fresh with 142 reviews, six short of the #1 slot. And how fitting would it have been to have the Pixar’s latest film, the third film in the trilogy, knock Toy Story 2 from the top of the mountain.

What happened? You guessed it. Armond White — the notorious contrarian movie reviewer for the alt-weekly New York Press. You might recall that White was the first critic to give Pixar’s last film Up a negative review. Whats worse, he gave Jonah Hex a positive review, a film which has been panned by critics and moviegoers (12% on Rotten Tomatoes with almost 90 reviews).

user posted image

Here is an excerpt from White’s review of Toy Story 3 titled “BORED GAMES”:

QUOTE
Toy Story 3 is so besotted with brand names and product-placement that it stops being about the innocent pleasures of imagination—the usefulness of toys—and strictly celebrates consumerism.  … But none of these digital-cartoon characters reflect human experience; it’s essentially a bored game that only the brainwashed will buy into. Besides, Transformers 2 already explored the same plot to greater thrill and opulence. … When Toy Story 3 emulates the suspense of prison break and horror films, it becomes fitfully amusing (more than can be said for Wall-E or Up) but this humor depends on the recognition of worn-out toys which is no different from those lousy Shrek gags. … The Toy Story franchise isn’t for children and adults, it’s for non-thinking children and adults. When a movie is this formulaic, it’s no longer a toy because it does all the work for you. It’s a sap’s story.

Here is an excerpt from White’s review of Jonah Hex:

QUOTE
“Jonah Hex does for the western what the Crank movies do for the urban action film; simultaneously commenting on genre practice. … Hayward’s action scenes depict a terrorist environment way past Pixar-kiddieland. Bombs, flames, explosions carry 9/11 force, replete with hellhound and ravens—creatures whose myths help vanquish anxiety—all to a pounding score that re-routes death metal back to cathartic affirmation. … Without a $50 million ad budget to make Jonah Hex seem important, the media feels free to trash it—doing so exposes their collusion with marketing and refusal to read film for personal reflection. True art is watching hot-chick Megan Fox (as Lilah the hooker) fearlessly staring at the most grotesque side of Jonah’s face as if coming to grips with her own exploitation. Beautiful and brilliant. I previously remarked how “Neveldine-Taylor stand so lonely on the culture’s edge that their au courant ingenuity seems absolutely avant-garde when compared to standard box-office formula.” Greed is a cultural hex.”

I have no problem with a differing opinion at all — actually I welcome it. Especially an opinion that makes me reevaluate my experience, and the art. But White’s reviews don’t seem to serve that function. Instead, White gets off on being a contrarian, and nothing more. His list also includes unfavorable thumbs downs for Inglourious Basterds, District 9, The Wrestler, In The Loop, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince , 500 Days of Summer, Avatar, Up in the Air, The Princess and the Frog, An Education, Star Trek, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, The Hangover, The Dark Knight, Gone Baby Gone, Iron Man, There Will Be Blood, and Zodiac. Did I mention that he gave Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a positive review? Even Roger Ebert calls White “a troll.”

Oh well, the second best reviewed film of all time is still quite an achievement.

user posted image

Post note: After writing this story, another critic named Cole Smithey filed the second negative review for the film.

Update: Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich has sent out a tweet which appears to be a vague response to the two negative reviews:

WTH... he is a 'contrarian'. Others like, he dislike. Others dislike, he likes. "Toy Story 3" is the best movie of 2010 thus far for me, not too sure if "Inception" or "Tron Legacy" will get such near perfect score!

Is it my favorite? No. It is worthy of a positive review? Hell yeah.

It is funny that PIXAR could have gone all out trying to make a viral ad for Lots-o in this ad:

The toy was not made until Toy Story 3!

And the description by the uploader:
QUOTE
I totally had one of these growing up. I don't even know what happened to it.
My mom probably put it in the attic. I don't like going in there, so it's as good as gone.

Is this the kid who lost Lots-o, before a new one was bought?

New characters to compete against Lightning McQueen ?

Confirmation from Disney:

Disney has however confirmed that “a hint” at a new character in next year’s Cars 2 is “hidden in Andy’s bedroom.” There are a bunch of car-related posters in Andy’s room

So yes, this pic could very much be what they are talking about.

Missing future references (is there is any)...

Andrew Stanton's "John Carter from Mars" (not a PIXAR film) and PIXAR's "Brave" (previously titled The Bear and the Bow)
"Brave" is the farthest announced PIXAR title (2012). "Monsters 2" and "Brave" (both PIXAR) release same year - 2012!

TOY STORY 3 was the 11th Pixar movie and it was the 11th Pixar movie to open at the #1 spot. Not too shabby. Oh, it also became the highest-grossing opener for Pixar of all-time, with $109M in its first three days, which shattered the old THE INCREDIBLES record, which stood at $71M. Of course, this film benefited from the ol' 3D trend as well, as 60% of its revenues were derived from 3D screens. For those wondering where the film places in terms of "largest openings of all-time", it's actually in 10th place on the overall list, which is headed by THE DARK KNIGHT ($158M), SPIDER-MAN 3 ($151M) and NEW MOON ($143M). In terms of animated movies, only SHREK 3 opened with more scratch, with $122M and in 6th place on the overall list

Best Pixar opening...ever!!! rclxms.gif

Even though much of the story is perhaps a rehash of the first movie, even though I felt Pixar went slightly overboard with some of the pop-culturish/Dreamworks stuff, there just aint no friggin' way this gets anything less than a 5/5 from me. Toy Story 2 was an unnecessary sequel that was still full of greatness. The third is perhaps just as unnecessary (and made of even greater stuff), that is, until the ending, which is just the perfect send-off for a bunch of unforgettable characters that I've known 15 out of my 22 years of life. Bravo, Pixar!

it's a great movie but your 2 yr old daughter won't understand it. I bought my 4 yr niece to the movie and she was asking away 'why this why that' in the cinema. My 6 yr niece got the story and was really involved in the movie.

I can think of scenes where there was tears welling up for me as an adult but now logically digests it, if I was a kid I won't cry. Just take the part where Andy and Bonnie interacts, I'd identify the adult Andy and my niece would identify with Bonnie; she would love it, whereas I would be sad.

Nice piece of work at that scene by Pixar.
Pixar scored more than prefect for TS3.

"Wall-E" had one of a kind moment(s) that was rarely seen in a movie let alone a 3D animated movie. I labeled this flick 'untouchable' for at least a few good years until (perhaps) PIXAR outdo the impossible. And they did. "Toy Story 3" delivered those one-of-a-kind moments again.

Perfect example as pointed out before:

I have to admit though...

Big Baby was creepy. As in... genuinely creepy. Espcially the part it was sitting on the swing looking at the moon and then one of the Squeeze Toy Aliens a.k.a. the LGMs drops.... BAM! It turn the head around sweat.gif

Fire burning part and Andy's separation were two of the best moments.

I thought part of the toys will start to melt... perhaps Andy's boot. tongue.gif

andy's separation.. feel very nostalgic even though i dont remember toy story 1 and 2 adi.. but can feel how andy's feel.. can't believe a toy can be more expressive than any of our actors.. brows.gif

In Spanish Toy Story 3, normal Buzz talks Latin American Spanish, while his spanish Buzz mode talks European Spanish. Still funny like hell they say.

The thing about Toy Story 3 is that you can enjoy it on a purely surface level. No need think so much, still a great movie.

But if you do think about it more closely, you realize that the story is really really deep.

Here's just one example of its deeper meanings. smile.gif

No toys get left behind? Bo Beep and the green race car ain't there yo.
I was expecting the 3D to wow me because one of the teaser trailer where they say something like "We're in 3D!" looked really cool. But I didn't see ANY 3D effects at all. So it was pretty much like watching a normal version.

Anyway.. I still think its a great movie. Hard to believe the third movie can still be as good as the previous ones. Didn't find it as funny as the first two movies though. The characters that brings back the most memories to me are the aliens. Can never get bored with the same lines they say in every movie.

After my plan to watch this movies delayed a few times, finally, just watch it. And my oh my isn't worth the wait. What a perfect ending to the trilogy. Definitely will grab the box set . Yeah, maybe not much funny compared to the previous two but still amazing and great.

Felt like a redundant sequel (like shrek, ice age sequels) on the 1st quarter of the movie until the whole prison break build up intense the whole movie, which still feel more or less like most animated movies nowdays.

Until the climax at the garbage dispose and the bittersweet ending which brings this movie into another dimension. The last 20 minutes of the movie is simply animated cinema masterpiece that only Pixar can produce. thumbup.gif

One of the best movies of 2010, all because of the final 20 minutes scene.

If mix the 1st half of Wall-E, then mix the 1st 10 minutes of Up, add the 2nd and 3rd quarter of Ratatoulie then add the final 20 mins of Toy Story 3 and u may have the best Pixar movie ever made! notworthy.gif

'Toy Story 4': Tom Hanks Says Pixar Working On Film

user posted image

Following critical acclaim, an Oscar for Best Animated Feature and a global box office take of $1,063,171,911, "Toy Story 3" was beyond successful. Combine that gold with the film having ended with Woody and the gang getting a new, youthful owner, and a fourth film would seem a no brainer.

And according to Tom Hanks, it's already underway.

When asked by a BBC interviewer whether his new granddaughter would have a fourth "Toy Story" to see, the voice of Woody said, "I think there will be, yeah. I think they're working on it now."

The work on "Toy Story" actually hasn't stopped with the release of the third film; Pixar released a short, "Hawaiian Vacation," ahead of their newest film, "Cars 2," which won the box office this past weekend. They'll release another later this year, rumored to be planned ahead of "The Muppets."

Disney is also introducing another new storyline for the film series' characters, a space adventure featuring Buzz Lightyear and space-suit clad Woody and Rex blasting off to fight the evil Zurg, to be featured in new toys and a digital book.

Theory: Emily Could Be Andy's Mom
http://jonnegroni.com/2014/02/24/the-true-...blow-your-mind/

Very interesting stuff... I've always wondered why Andy's hat is not the same as the one on Woody. Totally didn't know the hat on Emily's bed = Andy's hat minus the white ribbon.

Mind blown... in a way, it kinda makes me rethink the whole story. biggrin.gif

I wonder how they can top TS3 as it ended brilliantly.

Which means... TS4 will be told from Bonnie's point of view.

Having seen the Toy Story 3 short films http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_Story_Toons, for sure there is life after TS3, but it doesn't have to be a full length film.

Can't wait for "Toy Story That Time Forgot" on Dec 2.

One thing I really appreciate the most is that not every movie needs a villain. This is a good example of why a person becomes 'selfish'/'bad' not because they want to, but just wanting to feel accepted and the main character actually feels their pain.

Hate to say this but this is my least favorite TS. icon_question.gif

TS1 - an absolute classic, watched it as a kid, among my first movie.
TS2 - a triumph, even better than the TS1 in many regards
TS3 - right in the feels at the end... until today I believe that was one of the most magical moments in an animated movie
TS4 - so many things this film missed out. still a phenomenally good film but I prefer TS3 over this

For me it's

TS3 > TS2 > TS1 > TS4

Funny how critics tried to downplay the 'wokeness' by giving all kinds of excuses:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightyear_(film)#Reception

- competition from Jurassic World Dominion and Top Gun: Maverick
- film was at a disadvantage since as a spin-off film it did not have well known Toy Story characters such as Woody
- spin-offs tend to not gross as much as the main franchise installments
- attributed to brand confusion in the film's marketing
- analysts believed family audiences might have not shown up to theaters after becoming accustomed to the availability of Pixar films at home after their three previous films, Soul, Luca, and Turning Red, were released directly to Disney+
- some box office analysts theorized that family audiences were reluctant to attend theaters in general due to COVID-19 concerns

... all of this was disproven after Minions: The Rise of Gru opened to $107 million in the U.S. and Canada two weeks later. biggrin.gif
