Interesting topic. Looks like this thread has been going on for ages. I was reading from the first post till 40+ post, then I realised I could not finish everything. So I decide to post something myself since it's now Hungry Ghost Festival. smile.gif

Being a kampung boy originated from Perlis, I have been exposed to a lot of supernatural stories since I was a little boy. Most of the events occurred in Perlis.

I remember being told that a lot of Malays/Siamese in that area used to keep some kind of spirits for their protection in the olden days. As they passed away, their offspring do not carry on with the traditional practice anymore. So the spirits roamed freely.

The hill in Kangar town near the old Mahkota cinema is known to have a lot of spirits (keramat). Several people got lost on the hill in the past including some of my schoolmates in 1980s. My dad told me "bomoh" had to be called to assist when a skeptic got lost decades ago.

My family members had been exposed to supernatural elements as well especially my late mother who was exceptionally "sensitive".

I remember my sister telling me that she saw a lady ghost hanging around at the hall of a kampung house we used to live. She could not enter the room because there was a Buddha statue inside the room. Eventually, my family found out that the wife of a teacher who used to live there passed away.

When I was a little toddler, I used to fall sick every Thursday. Any other days, I was fine. Even the doctor was puzzled and joked that Thursday did not suit me. With the consultation of a medium, my family found out that an ancestor from Indonesia was seeking my family's attention. After praying, everything is back to normal ever since. My ancestor actually migrated from Indonesia.

When I was a boy I used to live in an area called Kampung Bakau which is next to Sekolah Menengah Perlis. That entire housing area was infamous as being haunted. There were several occasions that my parents saw weird things when staying there such as:
1. A hairy hand trying to grab my dad when he was watering the plants
2. My late mother saw someone that looked like my dad but "he" was not my dad.
3. My late mother saw someone that kept rushing into the toilet thinking "she" was my sister but "she" was not my sister.

The neighbours also encountered weird things around that area:
1. My neighbour's children saw kids with green face and red face playing with water at the sink.
2. Neighbours complained about hearing baby crying at night (Note: there were a lots of stray cats in that area too. So, it could be cats)
3. An old man was seen by the son of a neighbour when there's no old man in the house
4. A lightning stroke my sister's friend's room directly at the chair he used to sit. Eventually, a medium informed that the house was haunted and he had been living with a female ghost in the room.

I remember the late Pak Dollah who used to live in a nearby kampung told my parents that the area had a lot of suicidal/rape cases during the Japanese occupation. He even pointed out that the trees in front of our house and the back of our house used to be the suicide spots of 2 women.

I used to work in Cyberjaya for about 2 years plus and I used to pass by the infamous Lim Kok Wing Institute where there were a lot of accidents. All of the time I drove alone even after midnight. I had never encountered anything supernatural there but I knew it was a dangerous part of the road. I felt half asleep there once and almost had an accident when making a u-turn. Another dangerous part of the road is in front of NTT. I remember very well that someone died in an early morning accident there years ago. I only heard about security guards complaining about the lift in my former company going up and down by itself when nobody was around, as well as mysterious window tapping sound.

In my current company in PJ, I often have to work alone in the office. Sometimes, I can hear weird sound like someone typing using the keyboard when nobody was around. I even walked towards that section to check but found nobody. I believe the noise is caused by the temperature changes leading the windows frame to generate the noise. Strong wind often causes the gap of the windows to "whistle". I have got used to it.

In my apartment, I often hear the sound of marbles or something dropping after midnight too. I don't think it's something supernatural or rather I try to dismiss it. I believe there's a Malay family with a kid staying upstairs.

I am actually an in-between believer and non-believer. I believe because I have no doubt about what my family members encountered. Even my cousin who is a doctor and my uncle who is a former army have encountered supernatural stuff. I don't believe because certain encounters can actually be explained but our brains play trick on us sometimes.

Get someone to sit behind your car next time smile.gif Sometimes we tend to feel that someone is sitting behind when we are driving alone, so we end up driving very fast. Maybe we watch too much horror movies/listen to too many ghost stories and it affects us psychologically. smile.gif Whatever your religion is, I think praying as you encounter the problem may help to raise your confidence level..so that your fear may be reduced. Sometimes, to overcome your fear, you need to face it to get rid of the fear.

During my college days, I used to rent a house together with some friends. One day, one of the girls found her food was being eaten up mysteriously. Actually the food was not even being properly eaten - something had been spitting the food all over her table. Initially, she suspected one of our friends did it to her. I personally doubt anyone would do such a disgusting thing. The problem re-occurred a few times.

Weeks later, my room mate and I happened to hear some noise downstairs. Naturally we were afraid but curious to find out the truth. We walked down very slowly from the staircase towards the living room armed with mop and broom. Suddenly, we saw something black rushing out of the door. It turned out to be a black cat. That's the reason, sometimes certain things can be explained if you have the courage to face it.

Of course, sometimes I chickened out too. Example: when I walked from my former college to the place I stayed during a hungry ghost festival, as I walked uphill I noticed a lady with long hair was sitting near the drain. I didn't even dare to look at her face.

From my understanding, Hantu tetek is an ugly being with huge breasts and most of the encounters, you dont actually see it. What it really does is that it'll hide you in another realm for you to become lost. The only way for you to come back to the real world is to listen and find the source of Azan(call of prayer) when you hear it.

it's called being waken up from dream by the azan call rclxms.gif

15 haunted place in Malaysia

1. Georgetown, Penang – A T-junction better known as The Deadly Junction is located beside the Union High School. It is said that if you ever drive through this lonely road late at night, your care will go out of control and crash due to the too many accidents that happened there. It is also said that there is a tiny unknown tree beside the road which looks like a lady carrying a child. The story was known by some old folks saying that this lady was once a bomoh (witch doctor) who kidnapped her sister’s son. Somehow, they never again appeared anywhere except other than being seen beside this road

2. St Michael’s Institution, Ipoh – A group of Catholics missionaries arrived here in 1912 and began building a school next to the famous Kinta River. It did not take long for the missionary brothers who ran the school to have enough funds to erect a huge school building with unique French structural design. When the WW2 broke out, the school was used bu Japanese secret police as their headquarters. Needless to say, there were lots of torturing carried out. The buidling itself had many tunnels which had been sealed off and the tunnels were said to be used by the Japanese to torture prisoners and to store food. Most of the sightings occurs in the Chapel on the fourth floor of the bluiding where a Brother was seen dressed in a black robe holding praying beands in a sitting position facing towards the door (which leads to the brothers quarters) in the very early morning without a head. Those who had witnessed it were asked to keep it a secret

3. Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Kuala Kangsar, Perak – This school is said to be a former site of Japanese occupation camp during WW2. Students would sometimes be awakened by something that stares down directly at them. A marching platoon can be heard in the field and sounds of dragging chains can be heard through the campus corridors. A tree on the campus, which is located right beside a lampost where the light shines down on it, reflects a shadow of a man hanging from the tree! A few other old colonial admin buildings that were used by the Japanese during the Occupation in the 1940s where executions are taken place are buildings like Victoria Institution and Bukit Bintang Girls School

4. MARA Junior Science College, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor – A white flying apparition can be seen in various parts of the building

5. Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur – A boys school was tured into a Japanese base during the Occupation. Many British soldiers and locals were brutally tortured to death in the basement and some older buildings on the campus. It is said that not only are apparitions common in the day as well as in the night, there had also been many cases of spirits possessing students. The possessed boys would behave strangely and even violently harming other students and teachers, forcing the stronger teachers and students to restrain him. The possesed boy would only snap out of it a few hours later and remembering nothing

6. Tambun, Ipoh, Perak – Singtings of an old lady on the roadside while driving

7. Tambun Inn, Ipoh, Perak – Lights were reported to turn on and off by itself and sounds of whispering could be heard where no one was around
8. Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur – A spooky place to be even when it is actually one of the most elite residential areas in Kuala Lumpur. This place with its many big and tall trees and very winding roads, has an eerie feeling about it even at broad daylight. It is said that a few years ago two youth embarked on a high speed motorcycle chase around the curvy roads of the area. One of the youth crashed at a dark stretch of the road, which is actually a very sharp corner. There have been claims about sightings of a young man riding a motorcycle at high speed, who mysteriously vanished in the dark

9. Poliklinik Cheras, Kuala Lumpur – Used to be a government hospital but it is being abandoned with no reason. There were rumors that say there are still some dead patients that loiters around the area

10. Genting Highlands Resort, Pahang – A famous hill top resort and casino, many people incurred gambling debts and committed suicide there. Some visitors leaving the hotel lobby reported seeing a man in red jump from the rooftop, just to disappear before he hits the ground. Certain rooms are not available for rent no matter how full the hotel was. Those who have seen the inside reported that it was filled with old Chinese ghost wards. They would subsequently fall sick for days afterwards

11. Highland Towers, Kuala Lumpur – A tragic event where one of the 3 blocks of apartment at this place fell apart due to landslide and heavy downpour prior to that fateful day. Since then, the Highland Towers have become famous for claims of being a very haunted place. Voices of the dead can be heard at night and ghostly figures are said to have appeared at the scene. There are also a story about a taxi driver who picked up a woman passenger at the middle of the night and being asked to drop her at the place. She left a bag and the poor taxi driver found it to be full of blood!

12. Police Station in Tras, Pahang – During the 1950’s, a police corporal and his wife were found in a state of shock and terror after opening their door to an unknown figure. Many police personnel were terrorized by this entity that other policemen would rather resign than being transferred to this remote station

13. Kellies Castle, Perak -Sometimes door are opened themselves and lots of scary screaming voices can be heard.

14. Puchong House, Kuala Lumpur – Evil drawings on the walls. Some say the ghost of a woman who used to stay there haunts the place. Other than that, just stepping into the house is enough to keep you awake for months.

15. S.K (1) Kuala Ampang, Selangor – Could hear taps in the toilet running by itself and sightings of a lady in white walking behind the school compound.

Years ago, an ex-colleague asked me where's my hometown. The moment I told her "Perlis". I saw her face turned fearful and she kept mumbling "Kotornya tempat tu". I really thought she was complaining that Perlis was dirty and full of rubbish. I managed to convince her to tell me the story eventually.

She was a MARA student there. In her hostel, she shared a room with a room mate. One day, when she was doing her own work, she saw her room mate. So, my ex-colleague talked to her room mate but her room mate never answered her. Afterwards, her room mate just left the room. Later when the room mate returned, my ex-colleague asked why she did not answer her just now. Surprisingly, her room mate told her that she had naver came inside the room.

This scenerio is very similar to what my late mother used to encounter in Perlis - doppelganger!!!

whoa talk about creepy.

ever tried driving at 3 in the morning on quiet dark roads?
my friend told me not to look into the dashboard mirror in case something stares back at you.

it was pitch black without a car in sight, somehow the streetlamps were off so the entire stretch was dark with only a few dim lights from the shophouses along the road.

scared the shit outta me, sped my way home from cheras with fog lamps and high lights on.

I have driven alone at about 2am-3am - lost my way in Damansara/Bangsar area ended up on a hill I was not familiar (rich people's area). I found the hill area quite eerie as there was no car at all. I actually kept looking at the mirror because I was more worried about another car tailing me thinking I was someone rich staying in that area doh.gif
