Best would definitely be a acoustic. But if you want to play acoustic songs on a Strat once in a while, it should be no problem since they have great cleans anyway.

Haha, quite true. But he has the money to spend, so it doesn't bother him. Darn, Jackson Stars RR-J2SP is sold out, and now i have GAS for a Jackson Stars RR-TN02EMG. Wanted the RR24, but this seems like a better deal because its a little cheaper even after shipping (before customs though), and has 24 frets, white binding and a neck pickup. I hate GAS.
![]() And what is the Japanese obsession with dual EMG 81s? Jackson Stars and Edwards/ESP both have dual EMG 81s on most of their axes. This post has been edited by fatboythin: Aug 6 2008, 06:13 PM |

Haha, you made one mistake sean392. Alexi used a J-50BC pickup & JE-1000 gainboost in his Wildchild and Stone axes. The Jackson pickup was quite nice sounding for leads, but it just didn't cut it for rhythm. Yea, now i sound like a total fanboy.
But that aside, if the guitar is coming stock with EMGs, it would be a lot better if they had a 81/85, or better yet 81/60 set instead of dual 81s. I guess thats the only flaw of most Japanese axes. This post has been edited by fatboythin: Aug 6 2008, 09:08 PM |

Yea, i heard that the 85 would be more suitable in the neck position for alder bodies because the 81 would sound too trebley. But i haven't been able to try out any axes with this configuration, so i can't really tell for sure whether its really much better.

Yea, i prefer an RR shape and the Demmel can't compete with the Jackson Stars' quality. I was quoted RM4.8k including shipping and a softcase. Pretty good deal IMO since the Demmel/RR24 are slightly more expensive and aren't the same quality as the Jackson Stars.
Have a look at this website: http://www.guitarjapan.com/jackson/index.html You can also e-mail them for quotes or any extra info and they'll usually reply within 24 hours. |

Its the replacement for the RR-J2. The ones on that site are the old models, almost the same price and specs as the 2008 models as the RR-TN02EMG above.
Here is the Jackson Stars site: http://www.jacksonstars.com/ Click on the pdf. banner on the bottom left to view the 2008 catalog. |

QUOTE(sean392 @ Aug 6 2008, 11:12 PM) heh, u should try looking at digimart and ishibashi ubox, some really cool jacksons [grover, stars etc] I get lost at their U-Box, haha. And gappy is bringing in some Stars? Guess i'll just wait for him to bring them in then. for a really good price or you can wait for gappy to bring in some jackson stars in a few months time heh unless you don't like used gear lah for grover jackson you'd want stuff from 89 - 95, those were best grover jacksons, which their high end models are on par with MIA jacksons =p And i really want to find a used Jackson Professional or San Dimas Rhoads from the 85-95 era. If i get my hands on one of those, i don't think i'll ever see sunlight again. |

The RR-J2SP is definitely not available anymore. Although its been discontinues for quite a while, Ishibashi had a few units left in June. But i got an e-mail from them last week saying its all sold. Haven't found anything on eBay either.
I think you should go for the RR-TN02, better choice compared to the Demmel and RR24. And when you get it, i want to play it! EDIT: Also, whats with everyone and the sudden craze with Jackson Stars? Did i cause it? Haha. This post has been edited by fatboythin: Aug 7 2008, 06:34 PM |

QUOTE(evalshtog @ Aug 7 2008, 11:46 PM) yea i thought so, but i just love the gold ofr,how much is it by the way?8oo?700?and where can i get floyd roses's from? Don't bother, it would be a lot of hassle, and cost a LOT of money. Not to mention its quite hard to find gold OFRs here. Had that thought too, but then i realised it wasn't really a good idea. |
