Certain parts I agree with Ever, some I don't.
I agree that we might never see or hear a new Metallica album that is worthy to carry even the "Black" legacy, let alone Master of Puppets........ but if Metallica keeps churning out albums like this one, at least they are in the right direction. After their abysmal last few albums, this one is pretty damn good considering. A few tracks like My Apocalypse does recall the Black days or even Justice..... but falls short somewhere at the end.
I agree that there really isn't much catchy riffs and sing-a-longs are far and few, but at least you're not going to hear any "TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK".........
But I actually LIKE Kirk and Jame's guitar tone on this one. Not too high gain, but not overly crunchy either. Definite step up from even Reload.
The one thing I AM grateful off is that Bob Rock is OFF. Rick Rubin might actually be the best damn thing that ever happened for the band.

Wow......... Have you heard Trivium's new single over at their MySpace? http://www.myspace.com/triviumThat intro riff ALONE sounds more Metallica then Metallica!

To me, Crusade was a better Metallica album then Load, Reload or the god-awful St. Anger.
Trivium is definitely the new Metallica in terms of mainstream trash metal (what an oxymoron right there).
Shogun sounds like it's on the right track with the recently released tracks, and I'm glad Matt Heafy is going back to the growling like on Ascendancy, while still retaining the melodic singing of Crusade (which I thought was TOO overdone).
And their new Dean Guitars looks and sound totally badass.

Another thing I want to ask...... What kind of Music do you listen to when you want to take a break from Metal? I mean, you can't listen Metal 24/7..... you'll get jaded pretty fast.
Right now, after heavy doses of the new Metallica album and all that Trivium, I'm listening to "The Best of Dolly Parton". No joke.
Oh, and I was in Bentley a few days ago. Nothing really sparked my interest.

To me, the problem with hip-hop, is most of the time, it gets me riled up, like what metal does. Even some of the new pop songs also fast beats and can't "mellow out" too. I dunno. that's me.
That's why Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sarah McLachlan..... stuff like that works for me.
BTW...... has anyone came up with good remixes with the Lamb Of God Sacrament producer's edition? Been meaning to try out some solo lines over their stuff.

I realize that 1 night of clubbing means I can buy a Boss pedal, as I usually pay for the drinks.
In ministry of sound, I can probably afford a low end Ibanez already.

I tried out the Epi Ultra II at Beatspot in Curve today. It felt good, and the neck was surprisingly playable.
Too bad I had to use the really bad Laney Hardcore amp........
Cleans of course were BEAUTIFUL, and the acoustic quality is really good.
I definitely would recommend it if you keep going from Acoustic to Electrics on live sets.
Costs around RM3.2k

I still wish they have the horn and drum roll in the beginning......... that would keep the Unforgiven theme.............
Also, call me crazy, but I actually LIKE Unforgiven I and II........ used to be on my playlist for ages.
Slightly off the topic of Metallica, but has anyone read the new issue of Guitar World with Dragonforce on the cover? There is a photo of Herman Li in his home studio, and on the left is his Effects rack. What's funny, that it's only the Rocktron Prophesy II, and another rack unit, followed by a Yamaha Home Theater amplifier, an Xbox360, a Wii, and I assume Playstation 2 & 3, as there is a wireless and wired Dual Shock controllers....... there's even the Guitar Hero Les Paul controller!
Damn. I need a studio like that too.

The last time I was Hong Kong and had time to go check out Tom Lee, it was closed Prices should be about the same though. Added on September 8, 2008, 12:24 pmSigh, just got budget for a new guitar (even though my Razorback hasn't come in yet ) and torn between an Ibanez Semi-hollow at bents (or maybe an Epi Dot) or with the Epi Elvis guitar.... Decisions, decisions....... This post has been edited by blacktrix: Sep 8 2008, 12:24 PM

All over my budget Only have around RM1500 for a new guitar. Razorback 255 already paid for. Just have to collect it once I'm back from Europe. I'm leaving this Saturday at 2 in the morning, so you'll all be in the very capable hands of EchoBrainProject. Like always, will check in when I can find a good WiFi connection.

Yeah, that was my argument too. But right now, since I'm teaching acoustic guitar most of the time...... the only acoustic I see within my budget that I'm really GASing over is the Elvis guitar. The other one is the Ibanez Euphoria, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off my budget.

wah....... you MUST win? Play Dragonforce. Seriously, just play crowd favorites with some sing-a-longs. Enter Sandman is always a favorite, or just take a pop song and metal it up. Try Children of Bodom's version of Britney's Oops I Did It Again. That would be a crowd pleaser. Oh, and for my guitar choice, I was checking out some of the Ibanez Acoustics online. I kinda like the Exotic wood ones.... should be around my budget range too. Will have to go to bents and check it out for myself and see if I want a semi-acoustic more, or a better acoustic for my lessons. I just need something with a faster neck, easier to play and better upper fret access. The Euphoria fits the category well (with it's Fishman Aura pickups to boot), but unfortunately, the price doesn't AND it's quite rare to find these days. Maybe I'll just save up for that. And for the record, I did NOT end up with the hello kitty guitar. I used the deposit money to buy a Digitech Whammy instead...... which is now increased (or decreased if some people sees it) in value with Herman Li's signature.

Crusnik04, maybe you can see how much an RG350 would cost at bentley, or check with Dead Eye and see if there's anything good.

Well, Miley is poised to be the next Lindsay if she keeps it up...... Which gives her at least another 2-3 more years of relevance.
Oh, and I have a new dream. Instead of touring ozzfest, screw it. I wanna be Miley's Guitar player!!!!!
