Hye guys. Just wnna ask for your advice. I wish to change my rim. Currently using standard rim15'' for my honda city vtech 2006.
If i were to change to 17'', do i require to change some other stuff i.e absorber or something?

you don't need to change absorber for a rim upgrade to 17 inch.

My current car use Silverstone m5 185/55/r15. I'm planning to change to BS Ecopia EP200 195/55/r15. So do I need to change my rim in order to fit new tyre size ?

excuse...can anyone pin on the first page any basic on sport rim? currently only know PCD stands for, but didn't understand JJ and positive or negative offset.

JJ is the wdith of your wheel
Offset is the centerline of your wheel relative to your hub(If 0 offset mean your wheel centerline is same as hub)

so...if i want the center hub to be deeper than the outer rim, it should be positive or negative offset?

by the way, what i know is there are 3 things that you should know.

1. Size (17",16", 15" and so forth)
2. PCD (114,100 and...)
3. JJ (+ or -)


Currently I'm using a TE37 replica, 16". I know original is good, but since I use my car for a normal drive, they are already ok.

4 : High disk or low disk for 3/2 piece rims mostly . High disk offers the most clearance for big calipers ( min lip ) while low disk offers the least clearance ( max lip ) . Some manufacturers like Manaray , when u opt for high disk , they give u a spacer add on . Eg 18x10J + 10 ..... What they do is give u a 18x10J +30 rims with a 20mm spacer to add on to the rim , screwed together unlike the spacer we add ourselves . The use of spacer is for you to clear your big calipers eg Brembo , AP Racing

what is PCD?

ori around 2500 - 4000 depending on size and model.
taiwan, 400 also can get.

to spot, u need to open and look at the back of the rim. there are marks and some other things to recognize. those who have bought ori rim before shud know.

PCD stands for pitch circle diameter and is the diameter of a circle drawn through the centre of your wheel's bolt holes. P.C.D. is measured in millimeters and also indicate the number of studs or bolts the wheel will have. Volkswagen Alloy Wheels are usually either 4x100: i.e. 4 bolt holes drilled through the centre of an imaginary 100mm circle,

hehehe..well, its actually the size between your wheel bolts.

cars like myvi, saga, vios, their pcd is 100. 4x100 coz they are using 4 bolts.
cars like neo, waja, their pcd is 114.3 or easily mentioned as 114.
if u go to wheel shop, u can see the diff between the 2.

dont forget, u can change between the 2 by using a spacer.

a standard persona wheel come with 15" rims rite? and the tyre size is 195/60/15 if i'm not mistaken.

my own rule when changing rim size, minus 5 for the middle number for each increment of rim size.

example:
195/60/15 --> 195/55/16

u can also use this:
195/60/15 --> 205/50/16

if u do the calculation, the overall wheel size will be about the same, hence it wont affect much on your speedometer.

but of coz, the bigger your rim, it will become heavier, more stable on high speed cruise, higher fuel consumption.

These days , there isn't a price range anymore for ori and RM4000 can hardly get a decent 17" ori Japanese/US rims unless u r referring to RM4000 per piece

well, actually im talking bout a 2nd hand price. hehe.

Oh , no wonder . Even so , try to avoid getting from shops or sellers where the rims r repainted . U will never know what was the condition of the rim before it . Know of a shop in USJ , nearby the old USJ Digital Mall , they bring in damaged rims from Japan . What they do is repair it and repaint and sell off at a normal price of used rims . Some of the condition of the rims before repair , i really wonder how they can repair it back
