i know most are only applying frontline on their hedgehogs if they're infested with mites, but i also know several owners who regularly sprayed frontline (about once a month) to prevent mite problems.

it's hard to know how the mites came about, it could be the bedding, exposure to outdoor or to other pets. poor husbandry is definitely another reason, but it's not easy to know how your hedgehog initially got mites beneath its quills. you may even purchase a hedgehog which already has mites if the breeder or petshop didn't take proper care before they sell.
check the garage sales, i just saw a zoozone 2 for sale at RM150, which is pretty much near the price of a brand new one if you can find any. for your information zoozones are no longer in production, so you'll most likely find second-hand ones only, or if you're lucky enough to come across petstores that still have new ones in stock.

there's no particular petstores that caters to hedgehog stuffs, but most of the stuff you'll need are similar to cat, hamster, guinea pigs, etc's accessories, so it shouldn't be much of a problem to buy items for your hedgehog.

Hedgehog rolling into a ball is quite extreme in captivity. Most just rise their quills and hiss in defence. You need to spend more time with lil Romeo.

Put your hand or finger near the head of the rolled up hedgehog, wait and wait and wait till it sticks it's head out to check. Let it relax and let down it's defence with your hand near it, then try to pick it up with your hand. Move hand inwards from head to body. Preferrably hand under it's feet.

If it panic and rolled into a ball again, repeat the process again. If this is taking forever, try to bribe it with food.
