QUOTE(electroyid @ Sep 17 2008, 12:53 AM) hmm...ok..tQ for the info... im still interested with hedgehog... I have mine for just a month, adopted from a lyner here, hedgie is already 1year old d.. hehe how long u being keeping ur hedgy..?? QUOTE(Hiyuki @ Sep 17 2008, 01:10 AM) Walao...my hedgie will go crazy when he sees mealworm.. from a shy shy hedgie become agreesive 1... after finish mealworm will run around so fast then if i put my hand inside he will try to eat my hand. o.O but since after i feed him the mealworm once... he is always agressive d.... is it normal or something wrong? Mine same, but i can handfeed him, coz i lure him a mealie, if he behave i let him have the mealie, if he noty, then no need to give.. Training helps to make even a year old hedgie to be tame and love u.. QUOTE(electroyid @ Sep 17 2008, 06:13 AM) Nope, they dont have "cheek pouch" like most hamsters.. hehe They eat str8 whatever n whenever they like, so they dont hide food anywhere..QUOTE(empty_reg @ Sep 17 2008, 05:58 PM) Mites ar... This I never encountered before le. You need to wait for more professional advice in this matter. But this usually occurs when the habitat is dirty. So shouldn't be a problem if the habitat is kept clean. Dats y it is best to purchase a mite free hedgie from the start to avoid all stress related probles of mites..My guess is:- 1st clean the habitat, change bedding, disinfect objects in habitat 2nd give the hedgie a thorough bath 3rd if both above doesn't helps, seek medication help empty_reg got the answer, i also wanna add [from what i learn from seniors], after the hedgie has their bath, spray Frontline to the quills/infected area, a spray to kill mites of coz, then leave for a minute or so, then rinse thoroughly with water.. Dry the hedgie.. Do twice a week and see the progress.. |

QUOTE(empty_reg @ Sep 22 2008, 11:43 PM) Haha.. RM 488? That's not reasonable, I thought the most it'll fetch in petshop is only 380.. I rather get myself a puppy. I have a weekly schedule for these, usually weekends.. hehe.. thanks..I mean how you manage your pets? Like you got so many gerbils? Keeping them male-male, female-female? That's 2 tanks, hedgehog = +1 tank. Fat-tailed gerbil = + 1 tank. And SG.. 1 giant cage? How you clean their habitat? Especially the SG cage... lolx. You're great. I have two 2 feet tanks [gerbils], two 1.5feet tanks [gerbil], a zoozone 2 [hedgehog], a 150litres toyogo box [duprasi] and a luxury cage [sugar gliders].. hehe QUOTE(gaigene @ Sep 23 2008, 12:34 AM) Hi all, Halo, welcome to the thread ya.. QUOTE(empty_reg @ Sep 23 2008, 01:19 AM) Most important is why you want it? There are many pets out there, is important to find one that really suit you and your wife's lifestyle. U sound like a pro now.. Hedgehogs are easy to care for in terms of diet (readily available), habitat (no special equipments like heater, lightning, etc), easy to maintain, if you follow some basic guidelines posted in page 1. You can feed them quality cat food or dog food. Insects (mealworms / crickets) occasionally They are nocturnal, so is not a good idea to place them under direct sunlight. Provide them something to hide and sleep in. Care for them... This depends on how commited are you lo. Some petshops just put them aside, feed them and clean their habitat only until the smell is overwhelming also consider as basic care... But if this is what you plan to do then better don't lo. Cause later they get sick, infested with mites, then you and hedgehog also susah. You should read basic care sheet at sheet 1. Anything more specific you are not sure of, don't hesitate to post here. = ) good luck |
