Bonai: Thanks bonai for the concern. According to doc Jenny is just ermm.. Twisted in the wrong angle (terseliuh?). The blue black mark is caused by swelling of blood inside the leg. Gave him medication to reduce the inflammation and antibotic.. Sunday or Monday will bring him back to follow up.. Hope he recovers soon. Today he can scratch abit with his leg already, yesterday he tried too, but guess it very pain for him to do so.

Not sure why this can happened. But the only possible reason I can come up with is that I put in a kitten toy for it to play with (is a small plastic golf ball size thing with little holes and a bell inside), maybe when is trying to climb the tank, he got it's leg caught inside there and tumble over..

Chester looks cute when curled up, I like hedgie when they curl up.. look damn cute... but my Echt never curl up for me.. only dash at me n poke me bite me when he was new.

would like to share some good news here, my hedgehog has given birth to three cute hoglets on tuesday, all of them in good health and the mommy hedgie is very protective for the time being.

too bad i was outstation when it happened, couldn't witness the cute little fellas when the mommy just gave birth (my family saw the hoglets about 5-6 hours after their birth). early on the hoglets keep dropping out from the hidebox and my girlfriend had to keep scooping them back in using a plastic spoon. the mommy hedgehog was very good, kept lifting the entire box to try and cover up all three hoglets but i guess the box was too small, in the end i told them to replace the hidebox with a bigger shoebox and now all of them are nicely tucked inside.

hope to peek at them more often in the coming week, so far i only saw them once when the mommy went out for a drink, all three are already bigger than my thumb, hahaha, it's a great moment for me and my family, these days everyone in my family takes time to watch them grow bigger day by day.

azian9100: Most grow up to roughly 7 to 8 inch length (stretch), width somewhere around 3 - 5 inch in standing position. Depending on how fat are them, males are slightly larger and may weigh more than 1 kg.

Hiyuki: Mine depends depends. I use RC with high protein. Sometimes can't find RC 32 cause most often they come in big packs. I fed mine half a scoop (milk powder scoop) at the evening, before I go to bed I top up by 1 full scope. 1 scoop should be sufficient. But I'm feeding mine more cause she's very skinny, can see the backbones.

Before seeing the doctor, she's barely eating. After deworming, her appetite returns. If measure with standard tablespoon should be around 1.5 heaping scoop : 1 scoop of milk powder spoon.

Sometimes I wonder how this works.
If people disturb the hoglets too much, the mother may consume them.
Then there are some reported cases that the mother reject their youngs. Some breeders will then need to handrises them. But in certain cases I read in a webpage, they gave the rejected hoglet to another nursing hedgehog. (like fostering). Just wondering why doesn't the foster mum cannibalize the foster hoglets? Any ideaS?

hey..just bought a hedgehog yesterday..
question tho..
is 4mnths consider baby?
cuz mine sleeps alot..and rarely play..
never see her playing with her wheel..
and she doesnt eat much..and also..nose abit running..
any symptom of bad news??or issit she is still adapting to new home??
huhuhu..
she just sleep in her hidebox all day long..
