QUOTE(empty_reg @ Oct 3 2008, 03:39 AM) Bonai: Thanks bonai for the concern. According to doc Jenny is just ermm.. Twisted in the wrong angle (terseliuh?). The blue black mark is caused by swelling of blood inside the leg. Gave him medication to reduce the inflammation and antibotic.. Sunday or Monday will bring him back to follow up.. Hope he recovers soon. Today he can scratch abit with his leg already, yesterday he tried too, but guess it very pain for him to do so. Not yet a fellow la, maybe end of the year.. but then i m thinking of moving out d.. hehe Not sure why this can happened. But the only possible reason I can come up with is that I put in a kitten toy for it to play with (is a small plastic golf ball size thing with little holes and a bell inside), maybe when is trying to climb the tank, he got it's leg caught inside there and tumble over.. Kelvin felo of uni and also a part time zoo keeper... haha and i m a FULL TIME zoo keeper la!! QUOTE(yanniieee @ Oct 3 2008, 03:52 AM) waiikkss..u keep so many pets...doesnt it troubles you? Nope, i like them sooo much!!Added on October 3, 2008, 4:02 amby the way..starting to get a hedgehog need alot of money ma? like what they eat, living place, and the brownish for them to step one call what? hamster also got 1..but i dont know what it called..one hedgehog will cost how much? a box? food? and many other things! sorry, kinda noob here.. ok here is a basic list of things before u need to bring home a hoglet k 1) Housing = Zoozone 1 or Zoozone 2 or Toyogo storage box 2) Water bottle 3) Food dish 4) Hide box = Cardboard box or Shoe box or Igloo 5) Litter tray 6) Food like Royal Canin or better ones 7) Bedding 8) Fleece 9) Wheel = Silent Wheel or Wobust Wodent Wheel 10 ) Supplement = LC Vit 11 ) Johnson n johnson Wheatgerm Shampoo Thats the basic. If ur hedgie got mites, then u have to use Frontline.. Go google in garage sales la for the estimated price.. Hedgie price can be as high as rm350 till rm130.. Once when there r too many ppl selling, the price dropped coz nobody buys, when the demand is high but the supply is low, the price also high la.. Whatever, look for trusted sellers/home breeders la ya.. Search for their backgrounds, stalking also can ya.. Good luck ya! |

Not to say the same diet, but genetically fault..
Maybe ur hedgie papa n mama got tumor genetics, so pass on to urs.. So urs shudnt be used in breeding ya, later all hoglets have a high chance of getting tumor also.. Dats y we say research the background of the seller to see if their hedgie r in the pink of health or not.. So to avoid this matter later on.. Muchan : Ur things with me d.. RM12.. Remember not? |

Muchan : What food u feed now? Eagle pack r?
My Humprey is more hygenic now, coz i now use Breeder Celect for all my pets including Mongolian, Fat Tailed, and all.. No dust for me as i am asthma.. And less work for me to change bedding every 2 weeks.. Now i just scoop out the smelly part, and add new ones.. So save my time n money too.. I bought the 35litre BC.. Left with just 1/4 pack now.. Coz i gonna use it for 4 x 2feet tank, 2 x 1.5feet tank, 1 x zoozone2, 1 x medium cage for sugar glider and 1 x small cage for sugar glider.. hehe Budget wise! I calculated d! Very saving n less work for me.. So i can spend more to food! More food, more food!! Kelvin |

QUOTE(livingmonolith @ Oct 25 2008, 12:08 PM) would like to share some good news here, my hedgehog has given birth to three cute hoglets on tuesday, all of them in good health and the mommy hedgie is very protective for the time being. Congrats man.. Whats ur male n female colour ya? Post pictures k! and dont try to kacau them for 2 weeks most k.. Hope all being fine till adults!too bad i was outstation when it happened, couldn't witness the cute little fellas when the mommy just gave birth (my family saw the hoglets about 5-6 hours after their birth). early on the hoglets keep dropping out from the hidebox and my girlfriend had to keep scooping them back in using a plastic spoon. the mommy hedgehog was very good, kept lifting the entire box to try and cover up all three hoglets but i guess the box was too small, in the end i told them to replace the hidebox with a bigger shoebox and now all of them are nicely tucked inside. hope to peek at them more often in the coming week, so far i only saw them once when the mommy went out for a drink, all three are already bigger than my thumb, hahaha, it's a great moment for me and my family, these days everyone in my family takes time to watch them grow bigger day by day. QUOTE(empty_reg @ Oct 25 2008, 03:38 PM) azian9100: Most grow up to roughly 7 to 8 inch length (stretch), width somewhere around 3 - 5 inch in standing position. Depending on how fat are them, males are slightly larger and may weigh more than 1 kg. Azian9100 : Nak hedgehog jugak ker? Hiyuki: Mine depends depends. I use RC with high protein. Sometimes can't find RC 32 cause most often they come in big packs. I fed mine half a scoop (milk powder scoop) at the evening, before I go to bed I top up by 1 full scope. 1 scoop should be sufficient. But I'm feeding mine more cause she's very skinny, can see the backbones. Before seeing the doctor, she's barely eating. After deworming, her appetite returns. If measure with standard tablespoon should be around 1.5 heaping scoop : 1 scoop of milk powder spoon. livingmonolith: Congrats. Share some picture soon when they are ready to pictures ya. Sometimes I wonder how this works. If people disturb the hoglets too much, the mother may consume them. Then there are some reported cases that the mother reject their youngs. Some breeders will then need to handrises them. But in certain cases I read in a webpage, they gave the rejected hoglet to another nursing hedgehog. (like fostering). Just wondering why doesn't the foster mum cannibalize the foster hoglets? Any ideaS? My Humprey is 7 inches long x 4 inches width x 5 inches tall [standing].. Hehe |
