^ as long as he's uncurl when he's with u and started to walk around to adventure means he's kinda okay with u. It's the sign that he knows ur smell and he 'kinda' trust u as he unroll himself. keep up the good work kelvin! smile.gif

Hehe.. At least i have some progress here!!

N did u know dat, when he unrolls, i let him down to walk around.. he will walk nearby me, just a while la, then gona sleep again..

sometimes when my friends come to my room [the news dat i have a "mini porcupine" spreads fast] to see him, he will hiss a lot till they r gone.. he is really sensitive with smells!! when they r gone, and i touch him, he unrolls again.. hehe me so happy if he begins to accept me..

i bring him out to the greens for a short walk, always stay alert if he bite the grass, dont want to get him poison ma.. he will venture then come to me, then venture again, if i put the cloth down, he will quickly come n take a sit there, as if i train him to come to me.. so funny..

will try do that to train him, a way to pick him up.. hehe

Hedgehog Lovers!

How to know what colour is the hedgehogs?

If Salt & Pepper = ALL quills will be banded isit? Not a single without banded?

Coz mine, just realised that 70% = banded [colour = light brown], 30% = white quills..

So what makes him? Please advise ya..

yours could be what most of us here term as snowflake, but to be honest it's quite hard to put a specific colour on the hedgehogs as they are categorized in many aspects. from description i think it could be a dark grey or grey.

while we're still in this topic, i think i can roughly assume that we have termed our hedgehog colours quite wrongly as very few of us have real salt & pepper. the majority of hedgehogs we see here are usually dark grey, grey, chocolate and i think there's a lucky few who have cinnamon or cinnicots too. and from the pictures i think we all have algerian hedgehogs.

salt & pepper hedgehogs have cream quills with 'black' bands. ours usually are dark brown bands or somewhere there.

meanwhile, it's not a snowflake unless the banded and white quills are evenly spread (50/50) or approximately there. but i think we messed up the categories as many petstores try to sell off their hedgehogs at a higher price by categorizing them as snowflakes even when they have like 20-30 white quills only.

i don't have any snowflakes so i can't show you any pictures, but i do own an algerian grey (with few white quills) and another one which i assume to be an algerian white. what type of white i'm not too sure (there's chocolate white, cinnamon white, blah blah blah you get the picture), but it's actually from bonai, and he told me it's a snowflake back then, hahaha...wink.gif

one of mine looked to be a snowflake when it was still a hoglet, but as he grows more and more white quills shed and are replaced with banded ones...wink.gif
