Sounds are a little high pitched..., Not enough bass...

Hey guys, I recently fixed a set of new speakers in my Kelisa (to replace the stock speakers)...
The clarity of these speakers really outshine my old stock speakers...but it seems to be a bit low on bass...
Even the stock speakers can produce more base than this.
I'm using a Kenwood 5039U head unit and Kenwood speakers.
No amp, no sub.
If I would like more bass, would it be necessary to install a woofer to complement my speakers? I've tried adjusting the player as best I can, but the bass is quite poor. Is it because of the wiring (could it be that the guys who installed it forgot to connect a wire or something)?
Thanks for the help.
______________
Would it help to add an amp? As far as I understand, an amp only amplifies the sound...so if it comes out high pitched treble sound, it would amplify that and I would get a louder version of my current sound, which would pierce my ears and kill me? =.=''

The tweeters aren't really overwhelming...there's just lack of bass...
They're Kenwood speaker...They're quite low end (around RM300 for front, and RM300 for back)...but they are surely better than stock right?
They lose out to my stock speakers on bass...but in terms of treble, and clarity they're great...
Is my solution an amp? Wouldn't the amp just make the sound louder (but still high treble)? Or would it add bass to the sound?
Would a woofer be better?

Getting Started

|
try compensating with your bass/treble or any form of EQ available on your player. you could also use thicker gauge speaker cables to get a fuller sound.

according the spec of the comps, the nominal rated at 45w & its peak is 240W. Is you underpower the capabilities of your comps. Comps tends to perform if you juice it the right power. It must not be underated or overpower(either blown ur speaker or does not meet your needs). IN your case, u direct only usign ur HU(only 50W) & defintie not a good job.
So add an amps with at least min 100-150W to juice it. But this is jsut a guideline. U need to understand the characteristiice of the comps which power that meets its peak performance.
Besides, as what mnkh said, play around the bass/treble on the HU.

your stock kelisa speaker is a full range driver
the kenwood component is a mid + high speaker filter by a crossover
you need a sub if you want bass, or 6x9 at the rear

Hi all.
Thanks for all your replies.
Seems like the solution to my problem is to spend more money to get amp and subwoofer.
But if I get amp, would it help to make the bass sound stronger? I thought the subwoofer would be more important?
Generally, how is my set up? Ok? Should I be getting good sound with those speakers and HU?

Should I be getting good sound with those speakers and HU? those are good as stock replacement, component speaker can be use without amp if you don't open too loud until it clip because of lack of RMS from player, typical 12v cd player output 22-25rms of power to speaker. or you can buy a woofer and 4ch amp to power from component and woofer

So my problem is that my HU is not giving out enough power? According to the specs of the speakers, they have a lot more potential? Guess it's time to start saving for an amp

Just curious, could it be that my speakers are not properly connected to the crossover? That could be a possible explanation for the loss of bass? Guess I need to bring my car for diagnosis! Also my speakers are both 2-way. As such it would focus more on tweeter and mid bass right? Sighhh...Luckily my HU has 2 pre-outs...probably going to find a 5 channel amp, and add woofer Do I need extra juice (battery) for that?
