I just absolutely love the idea of rebooting the Star Trek series. They literally 'start' their very first voyage in the movie. That is just so damn awesome. Coz the TV show, there is absolutely 'no starting point' as to how it all began... unless someone out there has Star Trek S01E01 (actual pilot / start of plot).
Yeah, I recall seeing 15 reviews that gave the meter 100%. But now already 22 review and still 100% ?? !! Wow ! This is just an indication that more reviews will be positive. Fantastic. Even for the build up of review count, it should be like 70-80%. I remember The Dark Knight was like 80% + in the beginning, then it was 94%.
Go J.J. Abrams ! This guy isn't a Trekkie. Heck he did this movie not for Star Trek fans, but more movie-goers around the globe. Great job on everything he does from my fav show Lost to Fringe to this.

Wow. I don't know why. This movie, is said to be one of the finest sci-fi movie ever made and also best prequel ever made in history of movies.
Every one of my friends who watched the movie said it was a freaking blast. They want to watch it... again.
J.J. Abrams has done it.
BTW, when the trailer first came out, I just loved the whole "colorfulness" and "shininess" of the movie. Everything looks incredible. Not corny, but in a way, it is dealt in such high quality.
Damn.
Haven't watch this movie, but pre-cinema score I'll give it a beautiful 9 / 10 .
I am not a Star Trek fan, yet somehow, I know the names "Spock" and "Captain James T. Kirk". What this movie delivers is beyond just a movie - it is filled with moments that make you want to jump out of your seat or gasp for air. It is intense. It is fast paced. And it is Star Trek - something that I was never into. I daresay I only watched like 5 minutes worth of Star Trek TV series.
The movie started beautifully. Then the plot takes off from this point. It is humorous, it is serious, it is all out action. It is stylized heavily and it is damn gorgeous. The production design is astounding. The shiny bits of the interiors, the lights, the constant lens flare, all add up to the visceral experience that the movie has to offer.
The plot is simple. Yet it is intriguing. I loved the way J.J. Abrams did this movie. It is for everyone. Star Trek fans should be very, very pleased with the end result. And movie go-ers like me, enjoyed it thoroughly. Very satisfying.
Almost all aspects of this film exceeded my expectations, albeit a few lengthy argumentative scenes and witty words-smith bickering.
The cast is another achievement - - they are fit perfect for the roles. Zachary Quinto of "Heroes" fan does an incredible job of playing the uber popular "Spock". It is very refreshing to see how Star Trek is portrayed here.
The visual effects - - eye popping. Every moment of the action is as if it went through 15 filters and quality checks. It is very, very polished. Its like a movie with no edges, everything is so polished.
Watching the trailer and getting excited is one thing. Watching the movie and then feeling satisfied is another.
I sincerely recommend this movie to ANYONE, including non sci-fi folks. This is an amazing piece of entertainment. I just can't find something that I didn't quite like so much. I so want to watch this movie again. Perhaps a couple of weeks from now.
My rating : 9 / 10
Verdict : Pure genius. The action sequences are nothing short of breathtaking. It is a roller coaster ride and it is one damn fun movie to watch.

Oh come on. It is just too awesome for a fan made teaser trailer! Did you really think it was real? I thought at first it was real until I saw the description.
After months of referring to J.J. Abrams’ sequel to ‘Star Trek’ as ‘Star Trek 2,’ Star Trek 12,’ the untitled ‘Star Trek’ sequel, it seems as there may finally be a title for the film. While not yet official, TrekMovie is reporting that sources close to the movie have confirmed that the previous untitled sequel will be called ‘Star Trek into Darkness.’
One thing noticeable to quite a few people about the title is the absence of a colon which has been prevalent in the past ‘Star Trek’ feature films. Historically, ‘Star Trek’ films have not done well overseas in non-English speaking markets, so Paramount has been testing a number of title possibilities to find something that would work worldwide. While the title gives no indication as to what the film will be about, it does coincide what Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine have said about the movie being bolder and having to deal with some serious issues.
The promotional team for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ is still working out how to officially unveil the new title and some think it will some soon in the form of a teaser poster or image.
Now that a title has been released, here’s hoping that a teaser will soon follow and Trekkers will soon find out the identity of the mysterious villain that Benjamin Cumberbatch is playing.
So what do you think of the title ‘Star Trek into Darkness?’
Nice poster... The trailer will be attached to non-IMAX screenings of "The Hobbit" and first 9-minutes would screen exclusively with IMAX 3D prints of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" on December 14th.
Nice... love the direction. Going for that 'all out destruction' scenario. I feel there is going to be a post-credits scene to set something for a third film.
Since our censorship board censored the 9-minute tease of Star Trek before the Hobbit, will this movie be entirely banned over here?
No, I doubt it. A movie with the potential to bring in profit here, no way it will be banned completely. Cuts yes, but I highly doubt it will be banned.
I really wonder what could the content be in the 9-minute preview that would make them want to remove it altogether. It's not like it's 18+ or something, and "The Hobbit" was PG-13, it would make more sense if they removed the 9-minute preview because it was PG-13 while the main film was 'U'.
