I dont see a pricetag when I go to their webpage. Do u READ the title of the thread, it is Optus Australia! What the heck r u talking abt voda? Totally off topic. Another Voda hardcore fan I suppose. Hey mangkuk, I was quoting iPhonegizmo on his plan on getting iphones from Vodafone Australia. Get off your Optus orgy and learn to read yourself. QUOTE(lailaikatong @ Jul 12 2008, 07:11 PM) How's the scene in Melbourne? The rostering department is really going crazy these days, at one time everytime can get Melbourne or Australian nightstop, at every other time, want to get AUS or NZ pun susah! Just passed the East Asia phase, and coming to Europe phase. My eyes are not blue enough to get nightstop places that I want....sigh.... |

QUOTE(frozzbyte @ Jul 12 2008, 09:32 PM) And you need a single 32GB NAND chip to do that. The iPhone doesnt have enough cavity space to house two slabs of NAND chip like the Touch. The 16GB version is already costing a fortune, I cannot imagine what a 32GB would be priced like. Twice the current price? |

Where there is a will (or demand/market for Apple), there is a way.

The epitome of my obsession of getting the 3G model itself.
On second thought, the 3G model is a little fatter, so it may be possible. As for the price....well, market dictates, i guess. |

Wow, looks like this launching-officially-in-multiple-countries concept is getting way messy, what with all the unlocking terms, contract subsidies, and the actual price of the unit itself varying greatly from place to place...
But looks like the messier it gets, the harder it is for Apple to keep their phones locked to the official carriers heheh There must be a loophole in all of this This post has been edited by Pepperboy: Jul 14 2008, 10:41 PM |

It is not messy really.
iPhones now are either sold with or without contract. Without contract iPhones are priced between RM2700-2900, and in limited countries only. The mess is from the iPhones that are tied with contracts. |

People,
Some update on buying a prepaid Iphone 3G from Optus. I have asked my friend who is in Wollonggong, Australia to get me the phones through this means. Based on his conversation to the people in Optus. They don't sell the iPhone without plan. This is also reflected in their website now. The previous link which was posted on this thread is dead too. Redirected to this page. http://www.optus.com.au/iphone So anybody in Australia can confirm this situation? They also change the unlocking procedure, now its free. Just call them. My quest for the elusive aifontriji is getting harder....haih.... |

Yup, I can confirm that Optus has stopped selling outright iPhones. Whether it's a permanent move is still uncertain.
I've posted it before, but here it is again: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Certain price changes implemented earlier this week has increased the cost. Cheapest options are now as follows: 8GB: 12 month $29 Yes Plan. Total cost including termination fees= AUD900 16GB: 12 month $29 Yes Plan. Total cost including termination fees= AUD1020 |

AFAIK unlocking was always free for postpaid customers. The $80 was for prepaid customers who wanted it unlocked before 6 months were up.
