This game rocks, i have been playing it for 2 days already. The combat is the main attraction for me because it actually feels like im doing something while mashing buttons. Watch out for hyperspeed gankers, they will run towards you and fuuck you over. Always stand on top of the highest buildings to see who is where to gank. FUN FUN FUN FUN!!!! Hoping for more content and patches very soon. I want to see them introduce a chapter related event where it involves everyone. Maybe include the INFINITE CRISIS thing . If they keep doing something like that, im sold for life.

Go to station.sony.com and sign up for an account. State that you live in the states and purchase your copy from there along with your monthly subscription

No need to bounce around to a bunch of sites. 12 gig DL for the game so try to do it before you sleep. Only takes about 3.5 hrs if you're on 10mbps unifi tho

Rights ! After a painful 14 hours of patching doh.gif (YES 14, don't ask me why, but its probably the rain, and thats the excuse I always get from Streamyx) I managed to get the game running.

Graphics were suprisingly stunning, given how busy some of the scenes can get. Gameplay, I must say that bashing the mouse isn't as fun as mashing the buttons on the controller, so I hooked my PS3 controller up.

Latency was my biggest worry since it took me 14 hours compared to the commonly reported 8 to patch, but once the game ran, it was smoother than WoW and WAR when they first hit. (Yeah I know you WoW lovers will hate me, but thats just my opinion)

I only managed level 10 (with a rush job of a villain) so I can't say much bout PvP and other stuff, but PvE was enough to keep me busy and glued. It doesn't seem like a grind like them other MMOs.

And so, for those who are still sceptical, my overall verdict to which is probably worth lesser than 2 cents is , so far its 'AWESOME' yawn.gif .

Any villains in Darkness Falls pls contact me or any other server, wouldn't mind making another villain.

Would love to post my villains pic, but he's just Big, Black and not very friendly.

Cheers.

DCUO PC Version.

Glad your enjoying yourself~ This is something SOE can actually be proud of for once. Given their bad record. tongue.gif

This game is the new foundation for the next gen of MMO's, including Vindictus if you can actually play it. The developer really though of things properly, the only backdraw i see now is ofcourse content. Many reviews have already been given about this. Some are pretty stupid, there was a review complaining about it not being like a traditional MMO from Gaintbomb i think. Which made me criticize their way of listing things. It was more of a personal attack then a review. hmm.gif

I can see this game growing to become a behemoth on its own without even touching WOW or the other contenders. As long as they keep to their promise of making content for this game every month, COX and CO can bite the dust.

On the up note, when you reach lvl 30, PVP will be somewhat of the only thing you do. Until they figure out how to compensate for the lvl cap. And balance certain powers, some are kinda redundant. But yeah, this is one of the best mmo launches in game history with so little server problems and client. They made the smart move to not host too many servers a start, WAR made that mistake at first and now is paying for it.

Besides Vindictus, I'm also waiting to see Guild Wars 2, and I hope this will be a good year for MMOs.

And yup, I've read the many 'I hate DCUO because its not free to play' reviews. I have to agree some are more of a personal hate rather than a review, but I guess everybody has a right to their own opinion. At the end of the day its the part of the developer & gamers who'll make the game survive or die.

Also, it looks like DCUO will follow the typical footsteps of any MMO, (hopefully) by raising the level cap every once in a while, add instances, enhance PvP, expansions and etc, to keep ppl occupied.

The Lvl 30 cap now isn't that bad, it gives the chances to mess around with different builds and see what works at max level while not wasting months grinding.

Well, I'd have to say I'm biased towards DCUO nowadays tongue.gif

Sadly it doesn't seem we have many players here.

Which server are you all playing on? I'm on Virtue and Pride (iirc). Pretty fun so far, very nice game. Would've been perfect if it had WoW's world design where you just travel zone to zone without having to use teleports aka hate loading screens doh.gif

Got a villain on Darkness Falls. Will branch out to other servers soon after I figure out a good build. Am planning a villain healer soon. Not planning a hero anytime soon, just like the feeling of pushing suicidal citizens of high rise buildings rclxms.gif

We don't have many players because either they are still grinding on Cata or they don't even know this exist. I was pretty skeptical at first too when i saw the gameplay from the first release footage from SOE. But after hearing and seeing the final product, i am convinced that this game is not another dead end. AOC, TR, AION, WAR are fine examples of an MMO gone wrong on the first day. However DCU does not suffer from any of the problems these previous games had. It had strong start, minimal complaints, and kick ass graphics and animation. COX and CO is nothing compare to this.
There is actually a sense of dimension in combat, which beats the "stand where you are and lets see who beats the crap out of the other first while mashing hotkeys" concept. The game will not take off fast since many are too accustom to fantasy MMO's.

Do not read any other review except this, its as close as you will get from a proper review. These guys are well not for being dicks sometimes and strict about their views.

TOR is kinda a big gamble. No real news besides videos of PVP and classes from them. There have been rumors flying around that the studio is a little worried about the game. Stating that the only pitch and enjoyment of the game is the Brand itself.

I saw a couple a week ago and they were pretty...........static. Imagine WOW but with really bland characters and limited skill options. I might be wrong, the only way to judge TOR would be from the full client. My expectations of TOR at the moment is kinda non-existent after playing DCU. Nor would i consider going back to WOW anytime soon, i have enough of farming and grinding using solely hotkeys with no skill required.

If the DCU developers are smart, they will take advantage of the sudden unexpected success of the game to keep pushing in content and patches. nod.gif

Hurray for SOE for making a game that is actually playable. Now make sure it stays that way!!

Read the review, well, its thumbs up from those guys, with the high cost entry level being really the things which might hold DCUO back.

And for us here, paying anything above MYR100.00 for a game is a heavy investment, what more if there aren't many reviews from our own countrymen. But if SOE wanted to induce more trials, I'm sure a 10 day free trial ala WoW would be enough to entice more gamers into playing.

As for TOR, its tapping into another ninche market similar to DCUO, basically jedi wanna ppl instead of hero/villain wanna be ppl. In my opinion, MMOs these days are catering more towards specific gamers rather than the mass.

Hence DCUO and TOR will not be enjoyed by everyone.

I don't know if it can be modded, but the default UI is quite tedious to go through, even worse for beginners if you're easily put off. And this is not just the chat interface; the chat window is small and chats can go by quite fast, I've not found a way to scroll through the chat window nor if it can be resized or filtered. But this is just me and I don't use the chat window much for now.

Another example of the UI is the quest log/journal. Opening the log gives you the quest title, then you have to double-click the title to open another menu to view the quest details. A separate quest overview menu next to the titles would've helped the journal be more user-friendlier imo.

is it conducive for grouping? I think voice chat is still the way to go, after all when i raid or pvp in a premade i never type.

Seeing that the game is fast-paced as it is, definitely voice chat is the better option. Plus, DCUO has it's own built-in voice chat system. But the text chat system itself won't be conducive imo due to its' design..in any case, who reads walls of texts when sh*t around you is happening in raid or you have players to kill (or vice versa). If you use voice chat often, then you can ignore the text chat for now.

I've only used the chat window once, and yes its too small to notice/read when while bashing or getting bashed. The chat window although overall still small would have worked in other MMOs where its click, spam your hotkeys and wait for the fodder to die.

But because DCUOs action is too fast paced, the chat window becomes altogether useless, not to mention if you were in PvP or raids.

I've yet to try the voice chat, but I hear there are some issues with it. But it should be by far the best due to the attention to detail given on the importance of voice chat by SOE.

Can't say much bout the UI as its console friendly and I don't think much can be done to improve the interface (which I hope I'm wrong).

But seriously, it boils down to where you've come from. If you've played all the MMOs, WoW, COX, WAR, MS and etc. you're bound to get a little frustrated with the 'different' interface DCUO has.

But if this is going to be someone's first, they'll probably have little complaints if any at all.

All them reviews are mostly writen by hardcore gamers who live and breath the stuff.

FF14 is an abomination from hell~ Its one of the only games last year that gets bashed left and right on the very first day. And all their complaints were true about it, lesson learnt, never expect anything from an ASAIN MMO. They showed videos and other samples of the game via youtube, all pretty much character combat and classes, but they never did explain in detail what was in the game aside from the flashy intro and branding. Hence why i waited for 2 weeks before even considering buying it.

It is proven already that the UI in DCU is pretty retarded, and makes PC gamers feel uncomfortable while playing it. Something i believe SOE can fix pretty easily in the future. As usual, it all about wheter SOE plays their cards right.

Read the above review posted by meetxj9. Its bassically what DCUO is, pros and cons.

There are only a handful of us playing here (PC version), but still doesn't seem like any of us are playing together or on the same servers, yet.
I believe like me, everyone's still discovering the game and making full use of the free 30 days.

There isn't any free trials like the 10days WoW and other MMOs offer. However the game is free for a month, but you'll need a credit card to verify future game time purchase ability before you can access the game.

Reviews - Well, so far so good. Level capped at 30, but thats when the fun begins with additional end game content. The game offers replayability by making different build, choosing different mentors and so on. Combat is fast and relies on button mashing combos, not your normal click, watch and see who dies first.

Gameplay and combat is somehwat similar to the PS2 Marvel Ultimate Alliance game, only better coz you can fly and do whatever whenever you fell like it.

Hope that helped.
