20 lots as in 200 units or 2000 units? Please do not confuse us tongue.gif
If you can stand market turbulance for 30-50 years like me, then you can start accumulating now. If you can only stand for 5-10 years, you should wait at least until next year to start accumulating.

RM200k is not a small and not a huge amount, but if invested wisely, it will be worth millions in 20-30 years time. A simple calculation of RM200k compounded 10% pa for 20 years would give you a nice number of RM1.35million.

I don't know whether you are familiar with stock market or not first. But it is important to know all of them and full aware the risj first before start investing.

On currently market condition, don't need to rush to buy, market won't shoot up far overnight as current market is on the way down, not in bull run stage.

Different individual has different risk appetide, so can't say which one is good choice or bad. It depends on individual liking as well as willing to take those risk. It is better you start up your initial targetted stocks then other can comment on it and discussion grows from there.

Cheers. smile.gif

'Heard' is not good enough to justify the decision on your hard earned money in stake. (no offence) smile.gif
Should at least knowing with facts and news of it.

Sell assets doesn't always mean good for the company one. It depends.

Now, 1 board lot = 100 units.
If you are talking of 1 lot = 1000 units, then I think your RM200k can't let you buy much at one go.
Talk about RESORTS for example, the closing price was RM2.57.
If you want to buy 20,000 units at a time, your cost would be RM51,400.
So, RM200k would only allow you to buy at 4 intervals, which is not good enough at current levels.

Since you are not only going to get one counter, you need to further divide the investment into smaller tranches.
I would suggest you to accumulate around 5 lots at a time, which is what I am doing currently.
That way, you will have more chances of lowering your cost each time the prices dip significantly.

In investment world there is no new fashion or old one, as long as one can gain in the targetted investment product, it is deem a good fashion.

Options, warrants and those derivatives are best in the eye of issuers most of the time. They are the ultimate winner in those derivatives products while you all fight between yourself, because it is a zero sum game sometimes. One winner money come from one loser money, while issuers enjoy the commission, no matter who win and loss, typically eg would be futures market. <-- a zero sum game.

Don't get me wrong. Those derivatives product can be a good tool for hedging purposes. But only play with/invest into them if one knew what he/she is doing.

You can say that smile.gif
It is a move to encourage more youngsters to get involved with investment, by having the chance to buy with a lower limit.

Diversification, understand what's available to you.

Which asset class fits your risk profile the most?

For example, you might want to do intracommodity hedging, short us dollars, long agricommodity or short oil, long us dollar.

There are plenty of ways to invest, but first understand why you want to invest in the first place. Is it to amass wealth, or just to generate addtional income?

Please always do your own research before investing in any asset classes. smile.gif Even the right bets might be a losing bet (Goldman Sachs) biggrin.gif

"Hope"? Mate, do yourself a favor. Take the 200k, go to OSK investment bank, open an account and let them invest it for you. They only charge 20% of any profit they make for you on a monthly basis, and there is no charge if they don't make you any profit. If this is your retirement fund, u don't want to be HOPING that it's going to give you a return. Ur obviously gonna need more help then u realize.
