Hi, I hav a question for experienced cat owners...

I adopted Leo for about a month now...He's adapting to my hse environtment very well...Just tat he keep meowing..I assume he's asking for food..He's eating 4-5 meals a day..He's about 8mths now..Seems like he'll nvr hav enuff food...and he also meows at nite...he's neutered...Is it normal for a cat to meow non-stop?

Pls advice..

I think from the pic above,u'll know how active and playfull leo is..no wonder after so many meals he also dun put on weight...hehe biggrin.gif

We speak slowly to him and din scold him nor hit him..He's actually an F2 bengal..tats y i cant simply get him another playmate..also,I think it's better for me to handle 1 by 1..2 at 1 time i scared i cant cope..

Any idea to make him feel safe so tat he reduces his meowing in the middle of the night...coz i m afraid if my neighbour come knocking my door for the noise..

thanks in advance.

biggrin.gif ..ic..at first he's afraid of us..but then now,he can come to the kitchen to ask for food...haha..he did a lot of exercise and run around(most of the time chasing his own tail)..It's also kind of hard to find another bengal cat or it might be v expensive too.. tongue.gif

N yupe, they are very active...also,i feel tat he likes to be on top..he'll jump up high...jus like their wild cousin tat like to sit on a tree..in fact, I've read about bengals and also Leopard cat and found tat they really hav the likings of thier ancestor....eg..like to play wit water, sit on the top to watch, run very fast and like to play chasing, and prefer meat than kibbles..jus tat they are a bit tame..

I've kept all my glass decoratives and anything from glass before it breaks..but so far,he din do any harm to the house..jus playing with toys and running around..

He likes to visit the ferrets but i dont allow him to get near the ferrets yet..

Nope i din sleep with him..frankly,he stil got 20% of wildness..he stays in the living room..

elfreakz, pls teach me how to make him more comfortable so that he slows down his vocal..I dont think i can find or afford another bengal in near future..

thanks for ur valuable reply..

Haha...I understand tat..i adopted him from a fosterer..I've did some research before even thinkin of adopting him..The vet is also very happy with his temperement(coz he got 1 F1 and it's fierce)..

I know the ferret might be food for him...so i keep them apart..

Leo is fully on raw meat...no kibbles..at first i giv him few kibbles(orijen for cat) but he din even touch...so i gav him raw meat since then..i chopped bones and meat together so tat he'll hav his calcium, which is v important for tis kind of cat..calcium deficiency can make him paralyse n die....also suppliments and taurine..flaxseed oil fresh yohurt and enzymes occasionally

mmh...i might consider ur option but i really hav to do it thoroughly...A pet means commitment to pamper them for their whole life.. tongue.gif

u be the cat first? try get a leopard tshirt eheheh sure look like ur cat.. eheh just kidding

yea u can make your own cat toys.. like newspaper u roll it until look like ball, then tap around it.. they love the paper sound. get some medium and big box for him to play hide and seek smile.gif.. buy some fake mouse they love it too eheheh...
you don't really need to spend so much money for toys because they end up destroying it ehehe.. just find box that people throw away and recycle it smile.gif

breeder select is not so food in handling odor. im not sure if it is clumping too.. try clay litter that is clump and odor control.. like fussie cat litter with lemon smell. since he is eating full raw meat, i know how it smell eheheheh. even eating orijen the 100% meat smell wow marvelous  laugh.gif

coughing sound like flu or chocking ? check the nose, is it watery or not. if yes, the its flu.. need vet too smile.gif but some cat solve this by themself. oh well, u know sometimes it get cold smile.gif
if sound like chocking, check the fur, do he has falling fur too? if yes, laxatone will help that fur to by pass together with the poo smile.gif else they will vomit it (the natural way).
*
Actually,i hav the feather toy, fake rat,few stuff toys and squeeky toys...he also hav 2 scratching pad wit a spring to play on..I'll try the self made toys too..He's so funny he'll look around and when we dont observe,he'll hide d toys and play..

i've tried clumping litter before..clay if i m nt mistaken...problem is it end up on the floor as he digs..and he pees a lot making it to be 1 pile of cement ..breeders select r nt clumping but it can absorb a lot and fast..also less mess on the floor..mayb i can mix?

Coughing like something choking in the throat.. n yupe,he's shedding..does cat shed at this age or they shed few times a year? Nose part i'm nt so sure as i'm working now..I din hear him coughin last nite..

Thanks for all ur help...but i m kinda new to cats..thou i read it theoratically, many things i only discover when i hav him.. smile.gif

yea cat stomach system very good in digest meat.

what bones do u mean? chicken bone or meat bone? normally they use chicken bone, but u need to smash them abit lah, so it become smaller part. chicken bones contain alot of calcium smile.gif...

well by nature nobody smash the bones for cats too right, but then, back to cat as pet in our house, if better to help them smash it into smaller part. afraid they get chock.. u also susah later. you bengal is expensive man, so better jaga betul betul smile.gif
*
Oh no....i dun smash a bit...i chop it into paste ar...i giv him chicken breast chopped wit bones and sometimes when chic breast got no bones,i mix few chopped neck, few liver n few gizzard...assuming the diet of a whole carcass...hehe

nice cat u have...i like bengal..huhuh..
but refer to ur conversation with elfreak the cat is very active..
and i think its quite hard to handle...
learn a lot from ur xperience of having bengal cat..
post more ur experience here..
glad to know much bout bengal... rclxms.gif
*
Thank you...Though Bengal cat is a cat, they hav many similarities with the wild cat..tats y before getting a bengal cat,it's best to do research of both bengal cat and Asian Leopard cat...moreover,vet say mine should be an F2..

I'm stil learning actually..elfreak teach me a lot...

From wat i experience is,normally not many cat likes water...bt bengal cats love to play wit water..some even learn to on the tap and drink fr running water..i giv him bigger tub of water so he can enjoy while drinking..hehe..they'll love it if u offer an aquarium of fish to them...

jumping to the highest post n observe fr there..they have long legs and when he stretch, his hand can reach my waist...He might grow up to be 11 lbs or even up to 18lbs---->means 8kg

n yeah...they talk a lot...he'll tell me almost anything..."i wan food" (sometimes he SING for his food)or "i m bored" or "dun mess wit me" or "play wit me" or "wats tat" or "pat me"..bengal cats hav more vocal than normal cats..

Sometimes Leo is very tame n friendly....He is the size of full grown when i got him...vet also say he changes all his teeth redi...getting him at tis age might need more time to adapt compard to kitten..At first,he'll jus hide any where dark and hisses at us when we want to pick him, bt now, he'll come to me to the kitchen and ask for food..bt when he's nt in d mood,he'll tap me off wit his hand and i'll leave him alone wit his privacy...

*elfreak-another thing is,how to let him put on weight? he looks skinny rite?mayb i should add some fat to his meat?

I feel sorry for u nonexno ...hope ur kitty get well soon..

elfreakz, wow tat's such a tremendous change of ur cat...now she's reli a beauty..so kind of u bringing her back and saving her life... rclxms.gif

bout the spay/neuter...i think if the cats keep breeding and when it gets too many, owners abonden them or release them and tats cruelty...there's too many homeless cat out there..also,correct me if i m wrong, if u dun neuter/spay them, they'll try to escape to find other cats..

He? Me?

Hehehe laugh.gif

Yes, I wanna furkid nap your babies!

Ohh, hedgies... I can hedgie nap also... Hahaha...

Just kidding!

But your house sounds like fun to visit!

Yes, OKOPlus is wooden pellets. What's great is the clumping part. So great!

Breeders Celect absorb the pee, but it doesn't clump so it ends up like a huge wet piece of paper which you have to throw all of it. I've tried Breeders Celect as well last time, have to change quite frequent the whole thing...

Doesn't chew?? Last time one cat I adopted that doesn't chew actually had teeth problem... hmm.gif
They do!

I love the marble ones!

Rawrrr...
Hi Snow!

Long time no see. Fancy meeting you here smile.gif

biggrin.gif
KP
Absolutely correct!

How much does the OKOPlus cost?I shall giv it a try..bt i did bought 2 packs tat day coz they giv me good price..

Leo had his health check and he got clean teeth..mayb bcoz i chopped it into paste and he find no reason to chew..hehe

My place soon goin to be mini zoo dy..we are the zookeeper... sweat.gif

Yupe...Vet intro 1 supplement-multivit(bottle is pink in colour)bt i cant rememner wat brand...I giv him flaxseed oil, kelp(sometimes), liver extract(sometimes-also from the vet), calcium(if i dun giv him bones) and also some gel for the hairball...

however, i rotate the supplement and not to giv him all at a time(except the flaxseed oil-no side effect)..hehe

Jus hide it in the meat and he'll swallow all.. smile.gif

Is there any supplement tat i missed out?

yea just asking smile.gif because chicken and meat also do not bring 100% enough vitamins although they are a good source of protein and fat.

just like us, we still need to eat vegetable beside chicken, meat, and fish right.

that's why im asking if u give any to your bengal since he is eat raw food.

its very different from dry food, dry food contain other ingredient as source of vitamin to make the food complete.
*
oic...yupe i m aware of tat..and i requested for the vitamins fr the vet... vet knows tat i feed raw to all my cat n ferrets.. nod.gif
