This project is based on the original "Media Player Classic" and was created after Gabest, the original author, stopped working on it. Several new features have been integrated in this player, such as :
  • An option to remove Tearing
  • Translation in several languages (currently Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian)
  • Additional video decoders and in particular H.264 and VC-1 with DXVA support (see specific section for details)
  • Better support for Windows Vista, including a release for 64 bits platform
  • Support for EVR renderer
  • Bugs and vulnerability fixes

i prefer vlc. all codecs are built in and not windoze dependant... sometimes directshow codecs crashes for no apparent reason...

I tried it recently.

The H.264 DXVA support is awesome. While playing the Ducati video, my CPU usage is 2% rclxms.gif with CoreAVC uninstalled to prevent it from being used to decode the file. The list of cards supported are available here. Unfortunately most of the ripped HDs (example: anime and movies) does not benefit from this, with CPU usage still the same as if it would have been CoreAVC doing the decoding work.

To force MPC-HC to use it's built-in decoder instead of Apple's, rename the .mov file to .hdmov.

I'll be looking at future versions of this player to see whether I can dump the old MPC and replace it with this. nod.gif
