If auto distribution of stats happened, then 1 might able to roughly estimate the HP of the opponent not counting the other catalyst/buff from item/spell.

That may be true. But let's make a WoW reference. WoW uses that system but the PVP is FAR from predictable. I'm sure the items and skills will be much more important compared to before.
To me, I see that D3 is very much more dynamic compared to D2. In D2 PVP, most people just stick to a few types of characters and alot of them are pretty much the same. As in the same playing style. I don't know, maybe it's only me, but I feel that in D2 the player's skill, no doubt important, didn't really mattered much. Here in D3, the dynamicness and mixture of skills seem very dependent on the skill of the player.
