Yes, there is a mutation called platinum and no genetic problems coz this is not from outbreeding with different species, it is just a colour mutation. The agouti colour is normally very little, white can be all over. It is super rare, just like the White Face coz it is a colour mutation.

It is easy to do teeth trimming, but you need to be extra careful and use the smallest nail clipper. I get the ones for babies. When clipping, you have to hold the hamster firmly by the scruff, pull back the cheek pouches and make sure you do not cut the tongue.

If your hamster's teeth are white, then it is either regrown or unhealthy. Baby hamsters have white teeh but as they grow older, should be yellow.

Yellow can be any shade, dark or light but it has to be yellow. This goes for rats and gerbils as well, even squirrels.

Not every hamster likes to chew mineral stones.... so I advice you to give cooked chicken bones. Give the drumstick bone, boil and clean it till dry. Then offer to your hamster. This is a tip for rats, which works well for most rodents.

To reduce pee, you can buy Doggyman snacks for dogs..... it deduces dog pee smell and can reduce hamster pee smell as well. It is a biscuit snack so ok lah.

Or another is OxyFresh drinking supplement. Is like RM20 something for a big big bottle, you mix with drinking water. It reduces body odour and also pee smell. Works lo. This also can get at Pet Shack but Petsmore at Petaling Street also got lah.

Yah, you can use.... but it doesn't really clump up coz it is straw... more like become wet and sticky so you will have to check the tank often to see if got any wet straw or not and clean it out. Do spot cleaning loh.

I used it before, mainly for gerbils coz they like to dig and make nest. Not much dust, soft too.... not as hard as normal hay but you better mix wood shavings in coz it won't absorb much pee.

How much is it selling for? Long time I didn't see this product already..... so far I used 2 bags before it was out of stock.

Is best for nesting material and also for digging animals.... but doesn't absorb much pee to me.... mixing with wood shavings or breeder celect helps loh....

Cat litter can be used for toilet sand, not bathing sand and it has to be the non-clumping type.

The clumping ones are.... if you get those with additional perfume, dunno what chemicals to reduce smell.... those are dangerous.... so far Frisian non clumping cat litter is safe. I use non clumping cat litter, no animals have died loh.... I use for quite a long time already.

Why do not get clumping? Coz clumping cat litter is clay that will bind when wet. So if a hamster eats it, it can get stuck inside the intestines or throat or cheek pouches.

Choose cat litter that is said to be natural, has no chemicals or perfume

We taking about the normal cat litter type, which is the grey sand type like hamster sand, only it is meant for cats. Got clumping and non-clumping.....

Pet Shack got postage mah. Go see their website, got toilet sand for Rm6.60 only.

Some of us choose cat litter coz it is cheaper.... especially those with 4 or more hamsters. If you only have 1 or 2, the small pack of toilet sand is ok to use lah but of course if you calculate, it is obviously more expensive than cat litter.

I found many non-clumping brands at Petsmore, can say got 3 brands.... just need to open your eyes to see. If ask staff, sure they dunno coz to them, cat litter is cat litter lah.

Really shocking news. Sigh, Ocha was a very handsome sable banded. RIP to him loh. Poor boy, from your description, he could have suffered a stroke.... 2 things in my mind. One would be heat stroke and one would be normal stroke. Heat stroke normally the hamster would be wet around the mouth and neck.... normal stroke no wetness but it usually is seen in older hamsters.

Cooked chicken and eggs. The crickets and mealworms don't cause such deaths wan....
