You can also try Ceriatone amps. They make a clone version of the JCM800 2203 (100W) and 2204 (50w). check out www.ceriatone.com for more info.

Another thing you have to remember about tube amps, is that you need to play them at a healthy volume (ie: loud) to get their full benefits. You won't get the crunch you're looking for if you're playing it at a relatively low volume. Unless of course you buy something like the THD Hotplate.

Keep in mind, I have a 60w amp, so it doesn't take as much volume as say a 100w to get the crunch I need.

Besides, my dad encourages, nay, INSIST I play at a decent volume.

Yeah, now that you mention, a Les Paul would be the best fit. Epi LP Standard should be below 2k.
