Hey I heard the 4850 is the best bang for the buck. I was going to buy the 8800GT but then I heard about this card.

Are the prices here comparable?

What brand is good? I'm looking for a quiet card that keeps cool.

Thanks.

yeah, u got it right

at malaysia price, 4850 performance (RM640) = 9800GTX performance (RM1K+)

currently all brand is the same, since they use reference design

any idea which brand has a good fan? I've hearing that the ASUS one is loud as hell and gets really hot.

Hm..what do you guys think of the Sapphire 4850? Is this on sale here yet? Any idea how much? It includes an HDMI output.

I heard you need to use some special software to tweak the fan because it doesn't turn on? Would it be preferable to add a passive cooler? The previous card I was looking at was the XFX 8800 with the Zalman fan, and the card doesn't go higher then 58 degrees (and thats when its active).

Heard the sapphire goes up around ~80 degrees which is not so good because I have a small box for a computer.

The sapphire kicks nvidias ass:

This link has the http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&hl=Gecube+4850

Gainward selling for 649 RM. I guess I'll go to the IT mall and just buy the cheapest card available.

The only advantage the sapphire has over the other cards is it has 7.1 surround sound over the HDMI -- do the other cards support this?

since X2000, already no nid soundcard in as Nvidia does

Hm..will sound output by HDMI be the future of sound? Does this mean creative will be out of business soon?

Is there anyway to output all your computers sound through the HDMI or is it only via special software e.g. blu-ray?

Technically yes, however, you can replace the original cooler back if you want to sent it for RMA smile.gif

hm..maybe i won't risk it yet. I'll wait for a year or two. I don't think its advisable to overclock without the 3rd party heat sink, no?

Dude, all HD4xxx has 7.1 audio via HDMI
*
btw, i've been thinking. Isn't the graphic output by a DVI? The only reason they can fit into a HDMI port is because of a convertor. So does that mean that the DVI is outputing sound as well?

does the hdmi sound produce better than audigy 2 zs?
*
hm not too sure about the audigy but blu-ray 7.1 surround sound kicks ass because it is uncompress audio.

there will only be benefits of 7.1 if the software supports it.

so your card outputs audio signal's to your monitor?

then from your monitor, you plug in some other speakers?
*
No,

its Computer <=> Sound System <=> Monitor/LCD

<=> denotes an HDMI cable. So you need two hdmi cables. The new HDMI standard allows video and audio to be carried on the same line.

400W for one card, not SLI!!

I think i read somewhere you need at least 700> W if you're doing SLI.

I only have a 450 W power supply!

Yay.. Finally able to adjust d fan speed... Forget dat appdata is hidden.. No wonder i cant find it...  doh.gif

Now da speed around 35% idle around 50-55c.. If fan at 50% idle temp will be 50c..

B4 this at stock d idle temp is 80+ .. sweat.gif

Crazy.. Burnt my hand twice while removing d 4870..  rclxub.gif

is this with the new 'hotfix' patch by AMD?

or do i need to get 3rd party software to adjust the fan speed? which one?

are you sure your fan is setup correctly. I've heard people at 35% (see previous posts) have the heat rise no more than 60 degrees.
