okay, so i just read that bioshock crashes alot. It doesn't particularly have to do with the video card.

Is there a def way of knowing if its a video card crash? There should be lines going across the screen right?

Fan speed at 80%. Toned down my oc to 670/1023

Added on July 15, 2008, 6:33 pmHow did your bioshock crashed? I know i need to reduce the clock when my monitor lost its signal for a few sec then recover again, then the ati error thing comes out. After that i can resume the game lo
*
Perhaps thats why yours is more stable, higher fan speed!

Bioshock crashed when I accessed the menu -- this was when i overclocked to 670 mhz, screen became corrupted with many horizontal lines. I lowered it to 650 mhz and it crashed about 1 hour in the game, screen just became black. Not too sure if this is a bioshock problem or a video card problem, i don't seem to have any other problems with other games (counter strike, team fortress 2, c&c3) but perhaps it is because they are less taxing.

woot...just install acelero s1 and Silverstone Blue LED 120mm fan at moderno PC

now i using ATITool and scan for artifact, temperature is only 52 degree at 790/1100 clock speed.

when idle is around 40 degree only...hehe
*
is that safe overclocking to such extremes even though its at a low temperature?

won't this shorten the lifespan of your card?

crashed again trying world in conflict. i think i'll leave it on the default for now. either that, or the game is just unstable under vista!

haha perhaps its crashing because i have utorrent running in the background.

Crysis runs fine with my 4850, finished the entire game using that smile.gif

1680x1050 with everything high and no AA.

Avg 31 fps on crysis gpu benchmark
*
I can't play without AA. If I put in 2x AA how much will the FPS decrease?

so i'm able to run crysis without any problems. i guess its down to shitty game developers , or drivers (??) . Right now world in conflict does not work, and bioshock can sporadically crash. Team fortress 2, counterstrike source, and C&C3 work without any problems.

You guys run into any video crashes?

BTW, what are your crysis settings -- I'm on High 1680x1050; 2x AA. runs at around 25+ FPS, playable but sometimes it gives me a headache when its not smooth. Thinking of turning off the AA but then it might not look so pretty?

One question to those using a widescreen LCD. I'm thinking of buying a 22" LCD, but the native resolution is like 1680 x 1050. Obviously, you'll need a lot of power to run this. I'll rather have lower res and more fps. So if i play the game in 1440 x 9xx, how will it look on a 22" LCD? Will it be very nasty?
*
I have a 20" apple cinema display, anything not at 1680x1050 doesn't look sharp because its not in its 'native' resolution. Looks brighter too in that resolution.

Reinstalling didn't work initially. I had to manually install the driver using device manager. Then after that was working i could reinstall.

Anyone know why in the ATI Overdrive section the current clock settings do not change? They are stuck at

GPU: 500 MHZ Memory Clock: 750 MHZ

even though I've overclocked to 650 MHZ/1010 MHZ

Btw,is it the lags causes by my VERY HIGH settings in crysis? My reso is 1280x1024.So what do u guys think?
*
hm, i dont' think there is much difference from very high to high. Try shifting back down to high. Try turning AA off as well.

I'm patching crysis now to 1.21 and will report if there is an FPS difference.

Added on July 17, 2008, 10:45 amHere are my stats with 1.21. I think my processor is holding it back. Pls post your crysis stats.

1680x1050, High, No AA.

wow, I don't know what happened. But after I enabled VSYNC, my FPS jumped. So if you're playing crysis, enable vsync for better performance.
