QUOTE(ramli sarip @ Jul 9 2008, 12:57 PM) QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jul 9 2008, 01:43 PM) Actually you can run the 4850 on the Coolermaster eXtreme 500. I was using that with my 4850 before upgrading to the my current PC Power & Cooling 750watt CF Edition. |

Wonder if we could find this here? I like the low profile design. Not that the Accelero ain't nice or anything but it's too monsterous for my taste

As I've stated before, the 4850 will run on the Coolermaster eXtreme 500 watt. I've used it before so I should know. Not sure about the 4870 though.

Sure we've seen the list. So the coolermaster 500watt is not listed but that doesn't mean it can't run the 4850 smoothly rite?

Exactly the same as all cards are manufactured by one company appointed by ATI. Even the bundled accessories are the same. What u need to look for is warranty period and after sales service (RMA history, etc.). And oh...which company offers the nicest cooler decal

eXtreme is not true power but an entry level PSU. What u need to look at when deciding on a PSU apart from the Watt rating is the 12v rails. Single rail or multiple rail, what's their rating. A single powerful 12v rail is prefered. And for some, modular PSU is a NO-NO. It adds more resistances to the current flow.

Ok got another 4870 for CF today. I've enabled the "fan fix" in the profile I created earlier. Fan speed is set to 40%. Right now it applies to only one of the cards. How do I enable for both? The second card is idling at 80 deg celcius, kinda hot compared to the first card

So I've decided to CF my 4870 while waiting for the 4870 X2. My initial worry was my PSU (Silencer 750watt CF) wouldn't be able to take on both cards as it's only certified for 2900XT crossfire. Popped in the second 4870 and threw everything I got (Crysis, COD4, Grid, etc.) all night long. So far the PSU is taking it very well. No lockups, crashes, 3D performance hit. Oh by the way I have 2 HDD, 2 optical drives, 2 CCFL, 6 LED fans, SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer, running on AMD64 6000+ X2 + MSI K9A2 Plat and Team Xtreem DDRII 800. My only concern now is the temp of the second card

Right now all HD4xxx cards are using same PCB, CAPS, BIOS be it Palit, Asus, MSI or the rest. Later only will u see diff cards (OCed, different BIOS, PCB, cooler, etc.). So if u get the Palit as shown in the pic, shouldn't be any problem as it's the same as the rest.

I've said it many times before and I will say it again, to date all cards are manufactured by one company appointed by ATI. Not sure bout HD4850 but the HD4870 uses the Qmonda GDDR5.
