Exact answer sld be 2,112 as normal height is 11' (w/o plaster ceiling). Trust me, 10R will not make the cut for you, boss. At least SPL-1000R lah.

Told you to come to my friend's pad to check it out. Actually hor, his aint really 6 series. The front speakers only. The rest are above 6.

Surr back - B&W DS7
Surr - CDM 1NT
Center - Nautilus HTM-1

He is considering to buy another SPL1200R or probably Ultra for his room.

Bro, any chance I can check out your friend's setup. Keen to poison myself more! biggrin.gif

Bro, CNY holiday itchy to improve sound. smile.gif
Your meter very useful, confirmed audyssey calibration is accurate within 2dB and balanced. Calibrated my sub correctly-previously sub volume set too high (60's), now only 20 and increased trim to add +3dB to bass. Now, overall sound is balanced.

Now trying to improve low frequency response. Will re-do audyssey again to see what happens to freq response. But takes time to do and noisy.

Also, looks like need to make more bass traps for the remaining sidewall-ceiling corners.
my manual graph:

Hi Guys. Here's something for the ears. 10 days ago, I bought CHT 10R and followed the settings recommended in this forum. At first, I was contented with this sub. But as days passed by, I began to develop my sense of hearing relative to the sub. I began to realize something is missing and everytime I crank the volume of the sub to attain more power, I hear some distortion coming out of the sub. I experimented on changing the settings of the speakers from small to large and back, the crossover settings also varied from 80 hz to 120hz and back, but still I feel something lacking. Hard to explain though. Finally, I decided to change my sub  and get the 12R instead. Alas, a very big difference. Even if I lower the volume, the sound do not vary. Playing CD music delivers musicality sound unlike before where it is too bassy. On movies, even the low notes can be heard and the oomph is not heart pounding. Very soft.  If anyone here is looking for a sub with a medium price, I recommend the CHT 12R

Just curious, have you calibrated the 10R sub during your listening?

i don't think you'll go far wrong with your shortlist...all reputable subs.

you might want to think about warranty, etc.

lightning, just curious, were the subs calibrated before auditioning?

it seems the T1 is downfiring woofer + passive front and whilst 12R is front-ported design so I guess the bass will be quite different.

poor man's sub upgrade: turn my CHT-10R sub face down on 4" thick furniture-grade foam to become down-firing and partially sealed sub. biggrin.gif

result: noticeably tighter bass and much less boomy but can't use remote.

next: working on a foam plug for the front port of the sub.
