Quite comfortable in the end. A good start to our CL campaign nonetheless.

We played reasonably. It was always going to be a tough game against Racing.
If last season we lost Sneijder, Gago and Guti through injury I would have been very worried. This time ard though I'm kinda calm abt it. For all the criticism of our transfer activity during the summer I am actually quite pleased with the amt of depth we have in midfield now. |

QUOTE(Soulsareworthless @ Sep 22 2008, 02:53 AM) Raul was poor tonight, he should be dropped for Higuain and Robben should start. A very cagey match with Racing flooding the midfield. Most importantly we got 3 points as Barca should easily bulldoze Sporting Gijon. I thought Raul did ok. He worked hard and did what he had to do given the circumstances. And to be fair most of our attacking players were very quiet until Higuain pulled of that moment of magic. If RVN didn't score he would have had a poorer game And I'm not really concerned what Barca do anyway. Heck will they even be our closest challengers? |

QUOTE(Soulsareworthless @ Sep 23 2008, 08:54 PM) If RVN is dropped who else can lead the front line? Raul didn't have the pace to suit the counter attacks launched. RVN has pace? |

Anybody watching the match? We're 1-0 up. Heinze with the header from a FK. The commentator is extremely boring though.

Well commentator aside I think we played pretty well in that half. We dropped off abit in the closing stages but defensively we have been very organised.

We played like crap in the 2nd half mainly because we were down to 10 men. But again we showed alot of resilience in the face of adversity.

Our first tough test tonite. On paper it looks like it's gonna be a real cracker. It will be an early kickoff because we're playing in Russia so the timing should be more accomodating

HT: 2 - 2. El Capitan with both goals. Our defending needs to improve. Heinze at fault for both goals

And I'm not happy with the ref. Twice Nene dived. Twice he bought it and showed yellow cards.

Bah stupid ref. That was a blatant handball. We created chances but our shooting boots were not on today..except for Raul of course. |
