Hye guys, I'm planning to redo all the audio components in my car. I mean EVERYTHING! From the HU to every speakers in the car. Hoping that some of you guys can help me in choosing the components and pricing. My budget is around RM5k+ which I think is not enough haha. Trying my luck. Please dun give me any Brothers shit ya? Haha I just want the system to have a nice clear sound that's all

5k can get you a lot of good stuff already... High end HU about 1.5k, comp speakers 2.5k, power amp 1.5k... These are just estimates.. but definitely will get you high end stuff... Unless you want a subwoofer which needs caps and extra power amp, then your budget is more than enuff..

Thanks alot bro That was fast haha. Any good shops that you know? I'm previously a customer of KF Audio but I think their workmanship is going down the drain nowadays. Tot of trying someplace else. Bro the comp. speakers you mentioned is one set? Including tweeters?

Hahah.. I'm not expert in ICE but can help you a bit... For shops, you need to scout around or find thru word of mouth cos not all shops (sometimes even the established ones too) are good..and also look out for imitation products as they are everywhere...

The best way to configure your system is to browse thru the internet sites (sony.com, kenwood,...) and see the products they have... you can also google some reviews for the products that you have chosen.. After you have a complete list of the exact things you need, then go look for bargains..but remember, if it's too cheap to be true then it probably is...

I would recommend you stick to branded and established brands (Sony, Kenwood, Alpine,...) as they have accurate model numbers and code so you can trace their authenticity.. They have cheap mid range models too which have good quality... For the component speakers, yes they come with a crossover module and tweeter...

FYI, The difference between those non branded stuff and branded ones are of course the reliability and next is the sound quality.. non branded stuff (especially speakers) tend to be hard to tune as the tonal response might not be flat...

5k is a good budget if u dun mind 2nd hand stuff.

5k if for me... Alpine 7998 (rm1300), front speakers = DLS R6A or better (rm1000 onwards), rear speakers keep the original ones, a sub (around rm500), and a good 4 ch amp (around rm1500-2000). Installations might be around 300-500 for this. So all is around 5k. Good luck.

or u can have this... pioneer 3050ub,alpine type r components frnt,rear std, sub ard rm500 and ard rm2000 class d 4 channel alpine pdx..

i think not only he needs the recommendation for the items, the place for the good workmanship is also another factor...

Judging his personal info, he's from KL, so I would recommend him to go to CV Audio at Kuchai Lama, KF Audio at Aman Suria.

These are the only 2 places I've done my installs and I'm very happy with the money I've paid them.

these 2 shops are well known for their workmanship and good service.

i do my ICE in CV Audio Damansara Uptown though. and sometimes the uptown branch do pull staff from Kuchai Lama to help out if theyre busy.

If $$$ is not a problem. But there are others out in the market that can do similar hardware setups & Show-Cars for two-third of the price.

Trust me, they are not as expensive as you think.

To be honest, would you rather spend that less RM100 and then regret with the workmanship?

I've been there. Never liked the experience of bad workmanship, although I saved a couple of hundred bucks..

not true at all. mind u there are some SPL or chao ah beng shop tat plays only SPL can do some freaking awesome fiberglass job for nominal fee.

If u know ur stuff, u wont mind going to lesser known shops because u know if they do up something wrong, u can always let them know and get it rectified.

The theme of the ICE setup must also reflect the requirements of the car owner & car including the budget constraints. Last but not least all these must be done personally under '1 roof'. For example you can't propose a SQ setup in a Volvo 940 with multi colour 'jam-zone' at the boot for a over 50 year old owner.

1 shop only...choose wisely... n count all ur needs.. more into jazz? or sumthing like hard-rock?? then quote all ur setup.. thn u get ur music come to ur life..

i'm now really afraid of cheap stuffs. Unless recommended, i wun budge into any unknown shop and waste my couple hundred of bucks for a dissapointing installation, 90% got aeroplane noise one... juz my personal exp.

Realistically if RM5k is your budget, the RM4300 system fits the bill better after factoring in good cabling and a proper install that maximizes the performance of your equipment. Spending 5k on the equipment and expecting to spend 300 bucks for install and cabling would be disasterous.

$5K for ICE nowadays can give you lots of choice & variation to your setup. Go around town to some installers & check their sample istallation prior making the decision. Take note that good branded hardware will not give you the optimum sound if the instaler doesn't know how to tweak it to the maximum.

actually if a ur a member of HCOC, i suggest going to CV Audio in Damansara Uptown and look for Uncle Peter. hes one of the old timers for HCOC. thats why i sent my car to him in the first place.

If you have time on your side, go & witness car audio 'Sound-Challenge' which are quite frequent nowadays around town. There are a lot of categories including in-car SQ setup for amatuers within $5K to $10K budget which are worth a listen with the owner's permission, sure these owners will wayang-you their setup after competition is finish & get some honest tips from them which will be more accurate than those you get from shops. Get the interest goin before you dump your hard earn $$ into it to get the best bang for the buck.

Yupe...I've checked quite alot of sample setups from a variety of acc shops. Most of them gave me a pretty good setup for about RM4500. One shop that I'm keen on is located in Sg Besi called Welldone. Recommended by alot of my mates. Then again CV Audio I heard got good reputation also Any of you guys heard of Auto Genesis?

I told you dude....not goin back to KF. Got a pretty bad experience there. Not with Mr Siemen but with some of their workers
