Pubs are good for new musicians as they provide you with the experience. However the people there can be cruel and the pub owners are more often not: jackasses!

QUOTE(gapnap @ Jun 20 2008, 01:49 AM) it is true english is harder to find ..but they pay much more than chinese scene .. wow, they pay that much? how often do you get to play in a month? that's a pretty good money i'll say even just playing 3 nights per week.last time i started with 150 a night from the loft , then moved to 250 quickly .. QUOTE(gapnap @ Jun 20 2008, 01:49 AM) anyway , learn chinese songs lah ..or at least get a singer who can sing chinese.. heh, sometimes it's about quality and not quantity. so depends on what the pub wants loh. some chinese bands can sing any song but sing very horribly lol.now or days ..chinese pub band covers everything ..chinese , canto , english , BM , indo , THAI , jap , korean , spanish songs..some of the bands i know even touch 700 songs ..crazy..you request 8 songs they can play 8 songs .. yeah ..anyway ..we need to be more competitive lor .. |

I think pubs , quality is important yea..but you need quantity too..both must be side by side ... imagine playing 6 days a week , 3 session per night .. you need at least 150 songs ...if you are gonna play the same songs every 2 nights ..then prepare to get "blacklisted" lol.. but its true , this pub industry is very cruel ...especially the politics since the scene is so small....i rather play for events .. |

hey, thanks for the inputs above guys. They're realli helpful!
You guys know of any other cafes or pubs besides these high flying ones (to cover english songs), as recommended by gapnap?* * - ruums , hardrock cafe , planet hollywood , magical cafe [ can't find info on magical cafe - seems like they're closed?] [since some of the high flying ones requires performance skills of near perfection] |
