Guys, need some info here.

Have you guys gone for the Recall already?

The SC (Mutiara Damansara) i went to ask me to wait and wait for my turn.....WTF...how long do i have to wait? I think i need to complain already, said only recall, but no action done for months!!!

doh.gif

Although i'm not too worry about the problem, but it sucks to wait forever with no end in sight. Anyone of you have heard weird noise from your bearings?

A friend of mine, driving Kelisa...said he replaced the bearing thingy 4 times in 3 years... laugh.gif

there is also speed sensor at the wheel. i think thats for ABS then.

brake light problem:
there is a switch at the brake paddle. just screw it tight and position it well. then no problem.
*
What brake paddle?? You mean underneath the brake where u step on it? I'm car moron, please give me more details.

TQ.

yes. use ur hand to feel ur way up the brake paddle.
a bit up, behind the plastic dashboard side, there is a switch. black color, long tube. screw it into the socket, screw about 45 degrees. press the brake a few time to make sure it clicks.
*
Thanks man.

I finally found it. It seems like it is dangling in the middle of nowhere underneath there! So i just unplug it for the time being.

It won't affect my breaks right? Just no lights right?

See photo.

NOOOOO.. u r not supposed to unplug it! put the wires back and the unit back. ITS DANGEROUS without brake light. those poor mat rempit might hit u from the back.

if u r using AMT, the switch is the 'clutch'. without it.. ur AMT wont work.
*
No, mine is manual. So no harm right?

Mat rempit deserves to die anyway, but i dun want them to hit my car. It's either no lights or full lights on. Tmrw morning i'll put back on the switch and drive with full lights on. at least people will notice something wrong from behid...thinking i'm driving while pressing the brakes!!

The switch is fine i think. If i press it, the lights will go off, if left in default position, the lights will be on. Normal right? I think it is just matter of putting it back where it belongs...a job for the mechanic...not me...i fix pc, not cars. LOL.

i kena the brake lights thing b4... at the 1st day i get my savvy... i was not far from the proton sc filling petrol... so i drove back for the mechanics... one of them just came in and open something (driver's side) under the steering there... i dunno wat he did... kinda just check on the switches... thn everything is ok after tht... maybe someone experienced can explain tht to our matrix fren...
*
Just sent my car to a nearby shop to fix it. less than 1 minute kau-tim. Basically that thing is loose and not put in it's correct place. Charge me RM5 only!

I think i already noticed something funny with the rear lights b4 it gets totally weird. This happens after i sent my car for the spindle recall recently.

Must be Proton chekai mechanic didn't do a proper job of putting the switches back in place. doh.gif

Really, the Mutiara Damansara SC sucks....also the people like looks very lan-si wan...like we owe them money or something. Also many times the SC staff didn't report my complaints down properly. Bunch of jackarse. And MD SC is suppose to be "Platinum SC"...yeah right... Unlike P2 SC (near the Sin Chew Jit Poh roundabout in PJ)...all very friendly staff....thumbup.gif

Proton can tok cock about i-Care yadda, but in the end, it's still the same. doh.gif I dun think i'll be sending my car back to proton after warranty over!!!

Is there any better Proton SC around PJ? Please share!

wanna ask about savvy FP=fuel efficiency
is it save gile, normal or mentekak darah
TQ...
*
PJ City driving, usually SPRINT and sometimes LDP. Savvy Manual. FC=15 km/l.

I would say it's normal. Same or slightly worst than my wife's Myvi (or maybe she's better at saving fuel!)

Definitely the most fuel saving car Proton ever built. Because "CAMPRO NOT INSIDE". thumbup.gif

our legendary TS can get 21km/l if not mistaken. sweat.gif we normal people here (me) can get around 16/17km/l. highway with fully load 4 person can get around 18km/l.

but when i 1st got my car, my fc damn terrible. sweat.gif still, depend how u drive ur car though. laugh.gif

if u want super duper fc, take viva. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
I don't think VIVA is that good at FC. More or less same as Savvy.

But it rides like motorbike...3 cyclinder engine crap.....Savvy is more powerful and handlingwise is legendary.

PS: This is Savvy's thread, so i can bash VIVA as much as i want... brows.gif

I tested 4 VIVAs (660cc,800cc,1.0manual, 1.0 auto) before deciding to buy a Savvy. So glad i didn't buy that 40k++ motorbike!!!!! It is seriously overpriced piece of junk.

my car is approx 4 year.. 2005..

bout fuel, mine for 200km drop 2 bar.. thats like rm18~20.. been driving like crazy to test the engine.. so 11/12km per liter i think..
*
Friend...you, that is wrong way to calculate fuel consumption!!! You can't calculate fuel consumption looking at the bars! doh.gif

What you should do is:
(1) Pump to full

(2) Reset trip meter to 0.

(3) Use your car to X Km (say 250Km).

(4) Go back to the SAME PETROL STATION AND SAME PUMP to pump to full. Jot down the litre pumped.

Now, you fuel consumption is X Km (in this example 250km) / the litre you pumped in (4)= km/l used.

My savvy is usually 14km/l to 15km/l, mostly around SPRINT/LDP.

Want to ask. Anyone of you here have the 2 + 3 years(extended warranty)? I bought the extended warranty when i bought my Savvy. So far, i think the sensor replaced 1 time (previously, 2nd and 3rd gear jerking). So is the sensor covered under extended warranty? Any ideas?

This seems like regularly rosak one...sweat.gif

My Savvy is now 1 year +, btw.

Anybody knows how to remove the back proton logo? My fren's 4yrs old Savvy's logo already discoloured/washed out and he wants to replace it with newer -- probably the black and silver -- version.

Is the original just a sticker or screwed to the bonnet?

Same here bro...always got problem with my savvy. Some more when you go to repair shop the mechanic always tell me why you go buy this car...until sometimes i so malu. But the AMT system really bothers me especially the amber lights coming up, the tdc sensor, and the jerking problem, sometimes fetch people they say wah 2 year old car like that already. Anyway for all those people who wants to buy the Savvy think twice, my personal opinion is there will be faulty problems with the AMT system which Proton doesn't even care to solve. Secondly you will be speding more $$$ in repairing the car, even though 5 years warranty seems like a good deal but then u have to think of beyond 5 years. I did check with the sales center although they mentioned newer savvy has better AMT system however how true that is, is yet to be confirmed. Anyway my savvy is SOLD. Happy to get rid of this car.
*
That's why i skipped the AMT version an go for the Manual, eventhough i like the AMT very much. I know the cost and headaches of solving AMT problem will be a nightmare. So far, quite happy with my Savvy. But now i think the suspension is a bit used, last time when go over bumpy road quite steady, but now seems a bit louder/bumpier, but still better than my Myvi. Maybe ask technician to check on coming service.

What do you guys think? How to make the suspension not so bumpy? What do you call this? Hard or soft suspension?

yeah me too...oversteer a bit...i think the car slide a bit, luckily was going very slow, just inside building compound, not ou on the road yet.....raining better not try stunts...i think i treat my Savvy too much like a Go-Cart...LOL.

hi guys,

when you guys turning your savvy, not normal cornering, it is like turn the steering wheel till the end, for example making 180 degrees turn, or making 360 degrees circle, etc.

Will you hear some small and minor "tuk tuk tuk" sound coming from the front wheels? is it normal?
*
Nope. Never heard any 'tuk tuk sound" on my Savvy. If BLM, 'tak tak sound' is normal..LOL. Better send to SC and check. Could be a bearing problem.

Just a question. Do you guys find ur front tyres cepat botak??

Mine is about 21,000 km (overdue for service, maybe this week i go), but the front tyre's seems quite used compared to the rear.

I thnk my Myvi which clocked over 35,000 km is not so bald (but maybe because the tyre size is different lar.).

Anyway, my alignment seems to run off a bit now, will need to do wheel alignment comes the service.

I'm planning to change the front tyre's to the rear and vice-versa. Do you guys do it at 20,000km???

Actually, it's not safe to buy first hand AMT either.

AMT=Automated Manual Trouble.

I've seen the spare price price list of the AMT last time....can't remember where...but it was around like 20k??? Can't remember, but definitely 5 figure price...i'm not sure if it's true...better not take the risk...or you better ask at Proton and ask them to show u the spare price list for the AMT b4 u buy...nanti kena heart attack.

erm. then could i know what kind of problems to look for?

are there any common problems that have not been resolved?
*
Like everyone else here already mentioned, the biggest and possibly only major problem with AMT Savvy is the AMT itself.

Other common problems? Power windows? Yeah still there...but not so bad. My Manual Savvy is nearly 2 years old this coming October. So far, no major issue...but it's quite low mileage..only 21K so far.

Some common Savvy problems, which i have encountered are:
Car jerking in low gear - Sensor or throttle body problem. (Mine has sensor replace once or twice).
Stupid seat belt problem (can't pull it after you wear it...sometimes like that, front seats),
Power window - switch replaced once.
Rear right door - cannot close nicely. A lot of savvy has this problem.
Petrol cover - cannot open!!! **&%$ This is really stupid, when your car runs out of fuel and you can't pump petrol! I use a 20 cents coin to flip it open....so always have a 20 cent coin ready somewhere! But it was fixed since the last service @15,000 km and still working fine now.
Rear lights on constantly - this is not common problem...somehow the switch underneath got loosed, no big deal. Just plug it back. (But i can't manage to plug the thing underneath the steering wheel and have to send it to a nearby workshop who charge me RM5 for it...LOL.)

Guys, i found some spare part list, maybe it's outdated, but it's an indicator and you can ask Proton the price list based on the part id:

26 25473 7701054202 PRESSURE SENSOR 1 RM 907.66

I might be wrong, but i believe the ACTUATOR are the parts for the robotic arms. There's 2 parts from the list above...
RM 8,226.41 + RM 13,918.09=RM 22,144.50

GULP.

Awh85: Maybe you can check with Proton whether this is the AMT robotic arms. sweat.gif

But if you really wanna buy AMT no matter what.....it's better to buy new with 5 years warranty...if you buy 2nd hand AMT, take note the Extended Warranty DOES NOT COVER TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP and only applies for the original owner who bought it. Yeah...i read all the details in my EWP certificate. biggrin.gif

Let's see..mine is 34k...
jerkin in low gear - i had it. sensor modified + throttle body cleaned (rm50), ignition coil changed to renault brand (rm550)  sweat.gif
power window on driver side - i had it, occasionally. Standard issue for all proton cars..nothin u can do about it.. laugh.gif
other that those things..it's a fine rm40k car..good pickup, steady at high speed, good handling, nice stereo, excellent fuel efficiency (16km/l for me).
40k car..what more can u ask for? juz do ur best to maintain it.  biggrin.gif
*
What is 'sensor modified'?? Usually you just clean or replace it right?

Yours warranty over already??..oh yeah...i forgot, the ignition coil also quite common...i think i better ask the SC to check it.

So far, i claim all the defects. No need to pay anything. smile.gif

Hmm...i wonder if the EWP covers the ignition coil...hmm.gif ..must go check again..
