I saw a very underaged joey at Lowyat Plaza. Someone playing with it. It's even smaller sized with those found in Pet Safari. Tail only 3 quarters of the tail covered with fur, the part where it joins the body, tiada fur, langsung botak. Body size can say slightly bigger than those roborovsky dwarf hamsters.

This is a rejected joey...
Under bonai's care for the moment..

See how the parents attacked the joey...
So guys please, if you do not know how to breed, don't plan to..
Do your research first.. it's not just putting a male & female together..
Not all cases everything goes well..
So when this happens, it's just a heartbreaking scene..

If you don't plan to breed, neuter!!!!

ouch.. nearly got the eye. or did it

shop or owners ? sounds so blardy small .. sigh ..
*
Well I would have to say owner as Lowyat Plaza don't have pet shops there. Yes just the body itself slightly larger than those roborovsky and the tail 1quarter of it is totally botak. They keep taking photo using flash on the poor thing.

Keeping pets and breeding are two different things..
And the proper care for them is different too..
The info is not available on the 1st page coz i guess TS does not encourage owner to breed unneccessarily..
So if anyone who plan to breed, please get in touch with those reliable breeders first and get some info..

Anyway, this poor joey is not from my breeding pairs and in this case it's something like rejected by a young mom..
I'll update on how she's doing and damn i'll post the pic of her cage soon.. so damn great cage!!!
*
I hope that her eye is alright from the attack. Faster post picture.. mau tengok cage dia hahaha

I just bought a pack of superworms for Judy. She seems very scared of them. I have to puncture the worm first before she starts eating. By the way, superworms seem more 'aggresive' than the mealworms.. I kena gigit yesterday by that superworm while feeding to Judy.

Superworms have sharper teeth, but won't puncture ur skin.
Hold them on the head la, n hold tight.
She'll get used to it.
After a while she'l kill it herself.
She adult?
Sorry, i'm away for quite sometime.

At first she was scared of that worm, but after I puncture the worm sikit, the juice come out a bit, then she starts to eat the worm on her own. Well Judy's entering her 3rd month OOP.

Yup it happened to her with mealworms at first but now, she can handle the mealworms herself. Now her next challenge is these superworms.. But I guess she'll do fine and will find a way to adapt herself to feasting on the superworms.

Can you imagine he nak guna hamster cage for gliders...... teruk teruk..... I doubt his dad would build him a large cage if his dad is busy with his pet birds......

Anyway, today another sad sight.....

I went to Brickfield's petshop.... saw the worker using hair dryer to dry the gliders. The gliders were all wet.... I asked why he use hair dryer.... he said he mandikan them and was suppose to sun them but it started to rain so he hair dry them...... can you imagine the stress? The gliders were super duper stressed up.

Then I saw small cages with coconuts, then I ask, are those for breeding? He said they use small cages to separate the female that is pregnant..... and there got some joeys inside, he said will be ready soon.  Sigh......

Then I headed to the stall that is at KL Sentral's outdoor bazaar that is connected to Monorail.... there got extremely small joeys, they got nothing to hide in but a hanging food container, all masuk in and cramp gila. I think there were more than 10 underage joeys.... they are as small as a small dwarf hamster, Bubba looks 2 times bigger than any of the joeys.... from their tails, they are roughly 4 weeks OOP only.... selling for RM300.... but so sickly....

Added on July 9, 2008, 8:19 pmAbout the name, up to you kalau nak change but it doesn't really matter lah. It is what you really like....
*
I really don't know how to comment on that fella.. Price factor attracted terus buy without thinking twice or checking with other people. Bathing sugar glider? I hope whoever was there did not get the idea that sugar gliders can take baths. Hangus loh those poor gliders.. Their thick fur coat makes it hard for heat to escape by using hair dryer.

i feel like wana stop feeding em mealworms ady....but feed them super mealworms smile.gif..
but i wonder how many batang should i feed ? since the super mealworms will bite..will it hurt both of my dear casper and cindy ?

If you are scared it bites them, smash the superworm's head but for Judy, she's handling them well without me having to smash the heads.

Dunno how many underaged joeys are around in the market now.
I can see theem everywhere.
I just went to 2 petshops in pg n each of them have at least 10 unnderaged joeys.
N they all looked sickly...
Tail also not fluffly yet.
They are all soaked...such a sad sight

It sure is sad to see these innocent creatures having to suffer that way, which they do not deserve. Furthermore, SPCA here cannot do anything like what they can in the States

We do not need SPCA to help us in this matter if we could do this by our own.. It's so easy, stop supporting!
*
Just need to come up with more awareness campaigns if not people will keep on getting underaged joeys.

At that stage their immune system is not properly built up yet and lacking of the essential nutritions which they can get from their mothers' milk. Sad to say No Pet Police Station here. Newbies tend to get their Sugar Gliders before hand, then only ask if they are underaged or not, and then start posting "how do I nurse my underaged joeys" blah bla blaa..... It is the impulse buying causes these to happen.

Update on the bazaar pet stall. Conditions quite terrible, slightly worse than what shakeera posted earlier. few more s.g's inside the cage all almost all sleeping inside that mangkuk, 3 were on the cage floor. No food nor drinking water were seen within the cage. Got two outsiders kacau the s.g's by making some dog barking noise and cat sound, and blow on them before they left.

I also forgot to mention about one squirrel. That poor squirrel like those we find wild here in Malaysia, is caged in such a small cage, just like those used to house their sugar gliders. When the squirrel stand on it's legs, the head nearly hit the top of the cage already. Not much space for it to move around too.
